What happened was a result of tactical voting, which was possible due to the fact that vote tallies were visible during the election. If you consider tactical voting to be 'vote rigging' then that's fine, but you also have to appreciate that that's a niche viewpoint which isn't shared by most people (citation needed). Tactical voting is a symptom of certain democratic systems and always has been.

Why did the Joco vote finish outside the top five? I think the idea that there's a site-wide conspiracy against a specific player/region to be very unlikely. The Joco campaign rubbed a lot of people the wrong way and voting system allowed them to do something about it. Shouting about conspiracies or elitism and promoting one specific candidate as the antidote doesn't necessarily make you popular.

Are there people with more power in the WA than others? Of course. Every organisation is like that. Does that mean certain viewpoints are smothered in favour of more popular ones? Sure. Does that mean there's a conspiracy?

At some point you just have to honestly ask yourself whether or not you're in the right.

That's me checkout out.

That is the best summarization so far and brings it to the spot.

I think what also played a part is that Kuriko had such an insurmountable lead towards winning the General, that people felt inclined to vote where they actually felt their vote could matter and make a difference: determining who got into the top 5. In that regard, Jocospor was greatly outnumbered and outgunned in support and popularity.

I think this is a decent hypothesis, but the extent to which it occured would not have been possible without the many efforts made to rig the vote.

Let me clarify: "strategic voting" isn't vote rigging on its own, and this isn't the problem.

The problem - and the reason why this is vote rigging - is that all of the top five candidates, most inarguably members of the WA Elite, banded together in a coordinated effort to keep Jocospor from making the top five. This involved many backroom deals, forum and RMB posts, as well as two mass telegrams telling all WA nations to vote in this way.

As has been said before, the CCD is likely riddled with deep cover infiltrators of every persuasion by this point.

And yet it still did not force people into it. I had all telegrams disabled because I was becoming annoyed with the spam and still decided to vote to keep Jocospor out when I noticed he was right behind the top 5. And I obviously alerted likeminded people. Do you think people banding together to do something against someone they dislike is vote rigging? Honestly, you can whine all you want about WA Elites in usual votes due to the weight of delegates but here everyone had their choice. And the choice saw you kicked out of the top 5. Don't like it? Too bad. Next time try not to use an April Fools event as some garbage propaganda thing. (Not that anyone outside your circles would support Jocospor either ways.)

A vote cannot be rigged if it is entirely people voting according to procedure.

I feel like I may have started a trend of directing discussions back this way.

ShrewLlamaLand wrote:We don't have a fascist tag. At the time of the quoted response, and at the present time, this is true. Yes, we've had a fascist tag in the past, but given what I've just said I really fail to see how that's relevant.

Because, in context, it's a situation where CCD had the fascist tag for several months, and within the same moment, removes it and officially states, "What fascist tag are you talking about? No such tag is there!" It gives the implication that no such thing existed when, in fact, it existed for months just moments prior to the swift removal and denial of it being present. Something that, until your post just now, the CCD failed to convey when questioning why people thought it had a fascist tag.

It would be like me editing posts I've made in the past to remove certain statements and then coming forward saying, "There's no records of me saying that." Yeah, sure, at that specific point in time it's technically correct, but it's also being economical with the whole truth, too.

Yeah, no. The election (either one) was factually rigged against Sanders by Democrat party rules designed to make it harder for voters to actually cast votes in favor of Sanders, or for those votes to count - either by arbitrarily early cut-off dates for voter registration, or by enabling so-called "superdelegates" to override the actual voters because their votes count for a higher number of votes, or by closed (i.e. party membership required) primaries, or (recently) by encouraging people to come out and vote in person in crowded schools and other public buildings in close quarters in the middle of a pandemic.

What is not rigging is when a candidate says "Hey, you should vote for this person who is not me, because the alternative is worse!" If that were true, Sanders himself would be guilty of trying to "rig" the 2016 election in favor of Hillary Clinton, and every losing primary candidate ever besides.
