There are plenty of regions we can work with. TNP springs to mind, for starters. Antifa is not absolutely vital to conducting anti-fascist operations.

Also, TNP has worked with Antifa in the past (albeit not a member). And TNP would rather work with Antifa to bash fash than us, so rip

TNP has always done anti-fascist ops independently or with allies, consistent involvement with Antifa only started more recently. Also worth noting that we haven't done operations with Antifa for a while. Antifa is very useful for anti-fascism and I appreciate the work they do but it doesn't have a monopoly on the concept, and it never will.

Statement from the Pacifica Democratic Union
On the Anti-Fascist Policy Created by Pacifica's Founder

By unanimous vote, with one Councillor absent, the Regional Council of Pacifica has decided to unpin and overturn the Anti-Fascist Policy created by our Founder.

The Pacifica Democratic Union continues to stand against fascism. We will continue to prevent fascists from residing in our region and we strongly oppose fascists abroad. Unfortunately, the Anti-Fascist Policy goes beyond standard opposition to fascism and makes false accusations of fascism against the New Pacific Order (NPO), the governing regime of the Pacific, and it is for this reason that we have decided to unpin the Anti-Fascist Dispatch.

Concerns about the content of the Anti-Fascist Policy were first raised with our Founder, Topid, during the Delegacy of Cormactopia Prime, with Topid suggesting he would look into updating the dispatch. That never transpired. Under the Delegacy of Cataluna, concerns were more emphatically raised, but Topid never responded to those concerns due to prolonged and unannounced absence. In waiting for Topid to respond to these concerns, Pacifica's government has sought to honor our Founder's wishes in issuing this policy and to give him time to alter the policy of his own accord. But as Topid's absence continues and as we have no way of knowing when or even if he will return, it has become clear to us that we are responsible for this policy going forward. In unpinning and overturning the Anti-Fascist Policy dispatch, we want to make clear that we do not agree with the accusation that the NPO is fascist. Such an accusation is false and wholly without merit, and it does not reflect the views of the Pacifica Democratic Union or Pacifica's regional community. It never has.

On behalf of the Pacifica Democratic Union, the Regional Council wishes to apologize to the NPO for the false accusation of fascism leveled against their government and community by the Anti-Fascist Policy. We recognize that we should not have allowed respect for our Founder to prevent us from immediately pursuing what was clearly the right course of action, and we acknowledge that we should have unpinned and overturned the Anti-Fascist Policy much earlier. We deeply regret that we didn't. There is one and only one situation in which an accusation of fascism should be made, and that is when the accusation is true. It was not true in this case, and no in-character invasion of another region, no in-character war, justifies such an accusation being falsely made against another community. Despite our ongoing state of opposition to the NPO, the Pacifica Democratic Union hopes to turn the page on this ugly chapter in our history, and to engage in strictly in-character and game-related expressions of our opposition to the NPO going forward. That is what a healthy gameplay community requires.

If your beef is with NS-Antifa, you can rest easy. With the sheer number of boots the NPO has provided, I haven't seen anyone tagged Pacifica on Antifa ops in a good month or two (as always, please correct me if my anecdote doesn't rise to the level of "data").

Hello world, it has been a while since we updated you on recent events in Pacifica and there has been a lot going on so here is a snapshot of the last few months:

A New Charter

The new Charter of the Pacifica Democratic Union was drafted and declares:

“We, the residents of Pacifica, declare our unyielding commitment to the principles of liberty, democracy, and solidarity. We affirm our commitment to maintaining a participatory regional government and community that is open, transparent, and accessible to all who are dedicated to the region. Through this Charter, we mandate that the Pacifica Democratic Union will be governed according to these fundamental principles. This Charter stands as a social covenant between us that we will respect the dignity of each resident of Pacifica, honoring each other's right to freely engage in self-government through this Union."

Following the drafting process, the Charter was voted on and approved by World Assembly nations with 95% in favor. It now serves as our governing document for the region.

Presidential Election

The Presidential Election saw Cormactopia Prime and Khrabryy emerge as the only candidates, and was a fairly one sided affair with Cormactopia Prime receiving 92.9% of the 56 world assembly member votes cast.

Rocky Peaks was later approved as Vice President by residents.

Prime Ministerial Election and Cabinet Appointments

The position of Prime Minister and head of government saw a more fiercely contested competition. Six nations, new and old, ultimately stood on strong and varied platforms: Biodome1/DRUS, The Celtic Dragon, Dino Pacifica Mission, Esholon, Qwabour Harbour and Shoalia.

Shoalia was the eventual winner, securing 30 of the 47 eligible votes cast.

In their acceptance speech, Shoalia thanked the region and appointed their cabinet for the term:

"Thank you again for electing me as your new Prime Minister. I am truly honored by the trust you have instilled in me, and I am eager to get to work! There is much work to be done and I intend to give it my all. As your new Prime Minister, I have the distinct honor of selecting a cabinet with which I will serve our proud region. Without further ado, I would like to announce the chosen members of my cabinet:

The Pacifican Convention

Several nations in the region hosted our first Pacifican Convention, a three hour festival that ended up lasting long into the night. The Convention included roleplaying, a Q&A with the Cabinet and President, the great Pacifican Trivia Game and finished with an Awards ceremony.

The event was a great success with over 1000 regional message board posts and nations played the trivia game long after the formal close of the festival.

The region also hosted a Card Festival hosted by Minister of Culture, Democratic Republic Of Unified States.

We were blessed with a number of notable card players and regional friends in attendance and the event included card giveaways as well as detailed Q&As - with Pacifican nations able to benefit from the combined wisdom of the gathered nations.

Cabinet Changes

Despite all the great events and elections that have occurred over the last few months, we have been forced to deal with several changes in the Cabinet.
Deputy Minister of Intelligence, Badivermeraed and Prime Minister, Shoalia, diligently uncovered that the appointed Minister of Intelligence, Aldsea was a banned player intent on causing harm to Pacifica. Following intervention from the President and NationStates moderators the offending nation was deleted from the game and removed from government, with Badivermeraed deservedly taking their place in Cabinet.

Our Minister of Culture has also recently announced his resignation due to personal matters and will be replaced in due course. We thank DRUS for their excellent service in the Ministry and the great Card Festival they hosted.

I am heartbroken to say that I hereby resign as Minister of Foreign Affairs due to undue interference from the President and Vice President.

The President has muted me from our Cabinet discord because he couldn't apologise to me (at the Prime Minister's request) without threatening me. Unfortunately I cannot bring myself to spend any more time and energy supporting a Government that sits under the influence of a President who wields his power with emotion and without restraint.

I value the friendships and relationships me and my Deputy have built over the term and I won't stand for members of our own Government insulting them, publicly or privately. In the discussion that preceded the President's intervention I had asked the Vice President to "please be a bit more respectful" of our friends. For some reason the President took offence to 'my tone', and considers a polite request to be uncivil and dictatorial.

I've put a lot of time into the role, supported our great Prime Minister in every manner I could but I won't have my energy and input insulted by an ungrateful and interfering President. He will not be receiving my support in future elections and I'm sorry to Shoalia that I cannot bring myself to support her for the remainder of the term.

I am grateful for the warm welcome that nations in so many regions we have worked with have given me over my term in office, for the relationships we have built and the friendships I hope will continue as I return to participating in Pacifica as a lowly citizen. I hope that my successor will continue the good work of our Ministry and the President and Vice President will learn how to work with their Government with more respect and professionalism going forward.

I hope you don't mind me sharing this here so friends of our region can see it.

As I said on our RMB:

There was no "undue interference." The Vice President expressed an opinion in a discussion on the government server, as he is entitled to do. He did not at any point make it out to be a case of his opinion overriding your decisions. You responded by telling him not to interfere in your portfolio, as if only you get to have an opinion on our foreign affairs. The problem was, and is, that you apparently cannot tolerate dissent, and you want to run your ministry like a dictatorship. That's not how we do things here.

You were not banned from the Cabinet's own channel. That is simply a lie.

You were muted from the Cabinet Discord server for 24 hours because of your tone of incivility, and your refusal to apologize for it as requested. No "threatening" occurred except telling you that you would be muted for 24 hours if you didn't apologize to the Vice President and the member of your own ministry whose opinion you also dismissed. You didn't, so you were muted. There are rules on the Cabinet Discord server and as the owner of it, as mandated by the Charter, I'm the one who enforces them.

If you can't work in a group with others, your resignation is probably for the best.

Now please stop dragging your petty grievances to the Gameplay forum. I promise you, aside from people who frequent this forum, already dislike me, and like to take potshots at me, no one cares about what was a minor internal argument in Pacifica until you blew it way out of proportion.
