Short version:

The NPO has big brass balls. Not everyone wants to rock that boat. Same people largely didn't help Topid when the NPO told his regionmates that Topid had to leave, or they'd take the delegacy and make him leave, and then made the region their "protectorate."

TBH has some NPO beef. When Topid asked nicely for help, we agreed he could have it when we were done, because why not? We can both have our goals met. Topid is asking folks to support that side that will return him to the delegacy, and which has said it will not eject St Abby natives here.

"Defenders" in the sense that they want to see a region that is open to each and every native nation of St Abbaddon (especially the only bloke who has ever put much more than an ounce of effort into the region left, RIP Hawkswind) should indeed back me.

I have demanded as a condition of my support a promise that Kitsco and other natives not be removed from St Abbaddon should our side prevail. I have criticized the NPO for forcing my ban at length, I will not be a hypocrite. Our side is the side for all natives of St Abbaddon being welcome.

There are a lot of "Defenders" that see natives rights as a secondary or third issue these days.

The bigger question is why is NPO stacking on a native delegate that tagged the region "Conservative" and opened an embassy with: The Reunited Resistance Against Liberals? That's the type of native delegate that normally does not get their support.

I'm not sure how any self-respecting defender could want to support an ego project of NPO's. I'm vaguely aware of the gunboat diplomacy that's gone on between NPO and Topid but I'm confused by anyone supporting the NPO here. Did they auction their spines off? And how much did they fetch for?

It's a confusing situation for defenders because both leads are natives and both are being pumped up by foreign powers but I can't see the proxy war ending until NPO is forced out, tail behind its legs. Supporting NPO's side here is furthering the use of intimidation and a large auxiliary force against a much smaller user-created region.

There was a time when defenders would have charged into St Abbaddon to help give the NPO the boot without a second thought. I remember participating in it's liberation myself years ago. The thought of siding with the NPO in something like this would have been unacceptable. What makes this time any different?

WHAT IS GOING ON IM CONFUSED

Ahem, a short, no-BS explanation.

2 years ago ish: I left the game to work on CPA exams IRL and I've been gone since the last couple months. By "gone" I mean only checking in every week or so, so about as active as my replacement was (but much active than he claimed he'd be)

18 months ago: NPO mad at me because I own Pacifica a nothing region I hadn't recruited for in YEARS and when I did it was RP region with nothing to do with NPO. During NLO coup I designed it as an anti-NPO "PAcifica" as boredom between updates. Just kinda stayed that way in my mind. I had never taken an action against NPO, in fact I believe I jumped with them a few times on some OPs. For reasons that boggle my mind, NPO decided to not talk to me about it, and jump straight into the region and give Kitsco an ultimatum that he ban me or they would do so. Kitsco told me he would ban me. I left the region to spare it from losing influence, because the region is my home and it breaks my heart to think of something bad happening to it.

A couple months ago: I come back to NS, not able to go home with a huge axe to grind so I build up Pacifica to 90ish WAs. Now there actually is an anti-NPO region named Pacifica.

Today: My group missed update by a bit, so now we're against all odds going for a pile war. Plan was to boot NPO, let anyone stay who wanted to be a real native, and have a happy healthy St Abbaddon that could move on from all association or beef with a region I frankly never wanted beef with anyway. Now, most likely, St Abbaddon stays dead and Pacifica stays alive.

I 100% support the restoration of true native self-governance in St Abbaddon. The "arrangement" with the NPO was always coercive in nature. You can say the native Delegate at the time chose to make St Abbaddon a protectorate of his own free will, but the truth is there was really no choice in the matter. He could either choose to do that, or the NPO would choose for him, and defenders at the time sure weren't going to stop them.

Any defender who is supporting the NPO in this should really be questioning their priorities.

You forgot the part where they could have just had the region instead of banning me, and still went with ban me and let me keep it.

You see, it was never about the region at all. Even now, if they want Pacifica to go away that could be on the table. But they don't, they don't care about anything but being able to swing a big .. endo stack.
