Jesus what did Unibot do to deserve so much hate?

It's against the rules of this website to discuss what he did. As Ike said, those with knowledge of NS history can fill you in through off-site platforms.

So I would assume she was encouraging Unibot to put in an application, not approving his citizenship.

While encouraging Unibot to apply would've been a big WTF moment in itself, the part where she "encouraged" him with the promise of a doorway back into mainstream GP was even more shocking. I feel like I know Imaginary fairly well. I don't believe this was anything more than an innocent mistake on her part.

As for everything else in your post, and what McChimp posted: I'm glad that this wasn't what it seemed, and that Unibot is not being simply accepted into Lazarus on a whim. I hope there's more communication between Lazarenes in the future so that we don't all get thrown for a loop again.

I think you should discuss this decision with other Lazarenes if you haven't already.

I'd like to clarify that she hasn't discussed this with other Lazarenes and that Imaginary does not decide who recieves citizenship or whose OOC conduct is permissible on our offsite property.

I suspected as much. I imagine there's just been a misunderstanding here - no harm, no foul. I wouldn't have accepted a path of citizenship that didn't have the acceptance of the community at large and wasn't in line with the existing regional law and administrative protocol.

My goal is to song spotlight the most random players ever, so if you're surprised then I'm happy! Everyone has a story and experiences that are interesting, regardless of how well known they are.

As far as ugh game/yay frens, I've been thinking a lot about that particular aspect of this site recently. Many of the best friends that I've made here have moved on to other pursuits and it's starting to feel like if I want to hang around the community I've always assumed I was here for, I'll have to cut myself into pieces and scatter them across the internet to stay with all the folks I care about. Staying here isn't about staying with my friends anymore, so I'm left wondering what about NationStates itself makes me individually so un-eager to leave. Maybe just because I have met so many awesome folks that I figure the future here can only bring more? x) Or maybe the actual gameplay is something I wouldn't want to part with.

Whoa? LazCorp is calling any “non-neutral” region, a ‘hostile’ organization to Lazarus? What were all the attempts about re-building relations with TRR about if you consider TRR, hostile?

Is the ‘Pax Poukai’ with TSP being ripped up?

I think this is a disappointing turn for the region, you’re pushing your ideology on other regions citing historic wrongs. It’s also an illogical premise: if the absence of neutrality made neutrals feel uncomfortable in pre-LazCorp Lazarus, how does declaring everyone else ‘hostile’ make non-neutrals in Lazarus feel except also uncomfortable?

It’s also a rather poor way to treat regions that have only ever fought to preserve peace and freedom in Lazarus during the NPO occupation and the Civil War.

For years, TRR and Lazarus maintained a close, respectful alliance despite TRR being closely associated with the FRA and ADN, and Lazarus being decidedly neutral. Now you’re saying that ideology is a more important basis for an alliance than mutual interest, security, peace, heritage, culture, and good government.

Funny enough, this neo-neutralism borrows heavily from Francoism and the ‘Feederite struggle’ — the ideology that disrupted and subjugated Lazarus for years. LazCorp is quickly becoming something that A Mean Old Man and Feux would have supported. A Mean Old Man himself could have written this ideological directive. The reality is lots of non-neutrals have contributed years of good service to Lazarus with the best of intentions, many non-neutral regions — far from hostile — have been friends and partners of Lazarus, and this radical neo-neutrality bears more than a passing resemblance to the fundamentalism that drove NPO expansionism into Lazarus.

While it's a strong move to differentiate Lazarus from the rest, it seems a little unwise to unilaterally sever all ties with regions that have been good friends to you like TSP and Osiris over ideologies they haven't pressed on you. Is there any reason why Lazarus is so adamantly determined to cut ties with strong allies that have supported it since the initial seizure of the region from the Khanate?

You know, I worked hard to re-establish relations with Lazarus during my last term as delegate and worked hard to convince the Council that re-opening relations was a good idea. Now, we're being labeled as a "hostile" entity despite nothing but good-will between our regions and our work to help Lazarus in 2015. I'll be bringing up termination of relations between Lazarus and XKI to the Council of 9. I'm kind of saddened by these actions from a region I once considered one of my three main home regions.

Lazarus, nor it’s government, has any obligation to justify or explain it’s actions to those of hostile ideology. They have never proven themselves to have the best interests of our region in mind - only neutrality has ever proven itself an ideology that served our interests, and we will maintain that such regions are trustworthy allies. Henceforth, we will be seeking closer relations with those regions, and distance ourself of other, more agressive ideologies.

That said, I encourage concerned allies and embassy partners to seek contact through private means. While we owe nothing to those regions harbouring ideologies hostile to our interests, we’d be glad to elaborate on our reasoning and the actions that will be taken shortly.

If you're more loyal to an ideology than your home, that sounds like a personal problem. And regions who can't support Lazarus as they take an ideological stand toward what they believe is best for their success don't support Lazarus at all.

Is this something you've spoken to them about one-on-one? Or did you just flock to the forum to express your outrage? Seems like that may be a bit of the point they are making.
