My nation was created back when I was in High School sometime before I Graduated in 2013. At the time, I do not recall being able to choose a Government Style. As a result, I kinda feel like I was ripped off just a little bit. Thus, I am hoping for a more direct and consistent way to influence/change your nation's government classification and governing style, in addition to how we do it through issues and the creation of nations.
Issues are fun and all, but the issues that pop up are random and their effects are also kinda random in nature. This makes it rather hard to shift my nation in the direction I want it to go. Most of the time my nation has existed, I've literally been stuck as an "Inoffensive Central Democracy" apart from brief Capitalist's Paradise stints that happened completely out of the blue. Never-mind the fact that my economy has consistently been in the frightening category for ages, which should automatically shift me towards the libertarian side of the economic scale.
Perhaps adding an option to gameplay allowing you to directly pass laws that radically shift in your government style or bump up/lower a specific stat enough to shift your category in a more controlled fashion, but at the cost of spending a resource similar the influence you use to perform actions in a Region. This hypothetical resource could be gained from addressing issues and not dismissing them, the amount of support your people give the government (Implemented through a new stat that is influenced by issues), and other factors. This would allow some additional control while still having the randomness of the issues, and limiting how often one nation could perform such radical shifts.
Also would like a way to reliably cut my government size if possible that could be tied to that resource as well. And maybe a "Nickname" function to my nation.
