General Foreign Affairs Report

Regarding topics about foreign affairs since 1 August 2022:

There have been a number of developments in the Department of Foreign Affairs:

On 11 August, The League ratified The Fellowship of Llamas and Eagles with the South Pacific codifying our already substantial ties.

Amaan land has been removed as Deputy Director of Foreign Affairs, and Ajakanistan has been recruited as a new diplomatic agent.

As of the end of August, the Department of Foreign Affairs is working on a number of projects which will be released in due time.

The League's Defense Forces Foreign Report

The LDF had an incredibly successful month throughout August. Early on we provided a critical 24 updaters of support to initial sieges of Realm of the Whispering Winds, and led most of the logistics in the final updates to remove raiders from the region. Afterwards, we published a joint report on the operation with our allies in Europeia.

Throughout the rest of the month we did normal defensive and detag operations, including training for our own new members. We also liberated two regions in rapid succession with formidable single-update turnouts.

The General of the League Defense Forces at the time of this report is New Makasta.

Consulate Foreign Report

The League and Concord began manual recruitment efforts in late-August, resulting in a large surge of new members. The League surpassed 400 members and Concord surpassed 200 members.

During the month the Consulate appointed Zloveshchiy as the inaugural Director of Culture, to oversee cultural engagements and events in The League.

The Constitution of the Republic has been significantly amended. Amendments include the abolition of a separate judicial court, the modernization of the Bill of Rights, the legal acknowledgement of the position of World Assembly Delegate, the incorporation of Concord into the constitution, and formally empowering the Consulate to sign treaties, declare war, and maintain a defender military. The provision on Consulate neutrality was later amended, and a few typos were corrected.

Concord Update

Concord has seen incredible development throughout the month of August. A couple of weeks ago, Governor-General St Laurent (Ikania) posted a regional address noting the development and success of the region which included exceeding 100 nations and 20 Delegate endorsements in size. In the time since we have doubled both of those numbers due to manual recruitment and integration efforts done in sync with The League.

Several natives have been appointed to regional officer positions to help with gameside administration of the region, and many Concordians have taken full part in citizenship and other off-site engagement. Overall, Concord makes up a substantial portion of the broader community and the project's continued success is paying off.

Council Foreign Report

The Council continues to remain relatively quiet. Early in the month, on 9 August, council nominations were held, with Tim and Laufenbergen (Andaluzia) being nominated for one-month terms. On 16 August, the Cultural Enrichment Act came into effect, which aims to promote intra- and inter-regional culture and events by the appointment of a Director of Culture, with Zloveshchiy being selected to serve as the first Director of Culture. Later, on 19 August, the Council and interested Citizens discussed the possibility of altering how council nominations are held and scheduled.

Department of Culture Report

On 17 August, the Department of Culture was formed by Council law with Zloveshchiy being appointed to the Director of Culture after an interview.

The department was made to lead the cultural process of the region, as well as developing it. Its goals are to develop the gameside of the region, as well as maintaining active development of the cultural environment. In the time since the formation of the department, culture staffers have been recruited such as Icaris, Jammy, and Hemmingway. Paleocacher has also begun hosting movie nights again for members of the region.

On 27–28 August, a game weekend event took place between The League and Balder, with the first half taking place in the Balder Discord Server, and the second half, The League Discord Server. It was a pleasure to visit Balder and host them in our community.

The department has several plans over the next month and we look forward to reporting them in the future.

Launch of a new regional forum!

Hello everyone,

As of this post, our new regional forum is being publicly announced for use. Feel free to stop by!

This marks the end of our time using ProBoards, which has served its necessities well over the past year but is no longer able to meet our regional infrastructure needs (the forum there will be transitioned to read-only mode). Our new forum is hosted at theleague-ns.com and uses the software MyBB, and once we fix the… sizable amount of errors involved, the regional wiki will be moved to a subdomain on this site as well.

We’d like to thank incoming Council Delegate United Calanworie for her suggestion in moving webhosts and domains to suit both forum and wiki needs, as well as for her general help in working out the process of this transition. We’d also like to thank Refuge Isle in their infinite patience for teaching us how to deal with various aspects of forum development/setup and theme creation.

The new forum has three themes to start, the default (example), regional theme (example), and dark mode (example). We will likely develop these themes and add more as deemed appropriate and feasible over time, but we are content with this for initial release.

For diplomats, the new forum also features the Gardena Diplomatic Row for foreign missions. All regions which have a treatied relationship with The League have been given a sub-forum to post diplomatic updates. Any region which has formal relations with us is eligible for an embassy thread. We don’t plan to make a thread for everyone at the start, but any embassy region will be granted one on request, please lodge said requests in either #staff-requests or #public-foreign-office on our Discord server.

Thank you for the well wishes. Once the wiki is also moved, this will very much streamline our overall infrastructure. It will be also good to have a neutral off-site area for regional law as opposed to storing them in dispatches in The League when they apply to Concord as well (or as opposed to two copies of everything, because that's dumb).

But in all seriousness, great work from our soldiers. Earlier on in update it was just 3 LDF members and one Warden, and we were still taking wins easily. Though the extra support later in update was an appreciated addition.

After about six months of no formal relations, Lazarus and The League and moved to re-open our on-site embassy. We had previously had forum and game-side embassies for some time, which were closed to due increased hostility between The League and Osiris, a then-treaty ally of Lazarus.

In the time since, Osiris' conduct in inter-regional affairs eventually led to a deterioration of its reputation and the repeal of its treaty with Lazarus. With this in mind and some further time having passed since those events transpired, the governments of Lazarus and The League have decided to re-initiate our formal relationship, starting with the re-opening of on-site and forumside embassies as well as the re-exchange of ambassadors.

We look forward to the renewed relationship between our regions and hope to see our communities both benefit from it.

SEPTEMBER 15 MAJOR - LDF TRAINING - 69 DETAGS

No, we didn't do that number on purpose. Capitalizing off of recent military successes and multiple new enlistments, The League's Defense Forces sought to display its abilities whilst training some of our wonderful new and veteran members alike.

Separated into three teams based on our banner's colors, we accomplished 69 successful detags throughout evening. Blue Team led by officer-in-training Corporal Icaris completed 26 detags, his first time leading a directly assigned operation, further displaying his growing leadership abilities in military gameplay. Gold Team was led by General New Makasta and completed 20 detags rapidly before ending early due to real-life reasons. Lastly, I led Red Team which, beyond myself, consisted of our two brand new recruits, and we had 23 hits (see the last one for an extra treat). Both new recruits displayed a competent understanding for their first update on the field, even doing some detags themselves, and we're happy to have them.

Treaty of Savotta and Ribe with Balder

The Republic of The League (and Concord) and the Realm of Balder are excited to announce the signing of a new agreement, the Treaty of Savotta and Ribe. This agreement contains many standard provisions for modern alliances such as mutual recognition and defense, as well as cultural agreements.

This agreement comes after several months of an off-site exchange of ambassadors and updates, as well as a very successful cultural event in late August that allowed our communities to get to know each other better. Given that we already have several mutual allies, as well as aligned interests on a number of inter-regional topics, this agreement was the logical next step in our relationship.

We expect this alliance to stand the test of time and usher in the next step of what has been a beneficial relationship for our regions thus far.
