Q. about Fiction & Non-Fiction States

Postby The Tees Valley and South Durham » Mon Jun 04, 2018 7:30 am

I really don't know where to ask this question as it's not a technical fault as it's just one that popped into my head, but can we base our states on real (like a region of a real country like mine is with the U.K.) and/or fake ones?

you can base your nation off of real ones or fake ones or even ones that did exist in the past. But your problem would be if someone else already took a nation you wanted.

You can totally base your nation off real ones. That's pretty much the whole point of NS.

Yep! Base it off a real country, a fictional country, an alternate universe version of a country, a country you made up, a different planet or dimension, a group, a person, etc.

The possibilities are limitless.

Well, my nation kinda straddles the divide between the two. Sure, the California influences are obvious, but the main influence is The New California Republic, of the Fallout franchise of video games. If you look hard enough, then you will likely find many more nations similar to mine, that straddle the line between reality and pure fiction.

Not necessarily. When you reserve a nation name, as Gospel Power can testify, you only reserve a name, not a particular ideology or alternative universe.

Thank you! I was just wondering, as the DRTVSD is based from a combined authority in the UK, as the map link says in my description or whatever it's called.

Whereas mine is based on a fictitious political theory by a fictitious philosopher on a fictitious planet orbiting a real star. Go figure!
