Quite right Intelligeneria, when I authored the New Year's statement, I was using the Royal We. When I write on the KoGB forums, particularly in a formal context, I use the Royal We. I drop it for more casual contexts though. Quite literally, when the Queen says "We" or what-have-you what she means is "Myself and God" technically speaking. I won't bore you with a history lesson though. No, there is only one king, that would be me, Henry IX, I and I alone have access to the Root Forum Account, and the Founder Nation.

On behalf of the Crown and the people of the Kingdom of Great Britain, I want to thank and applaud our Deputy Prime Minister for his exhaustive investigation, and for the diligence, expediency, and dignity with which he carried out this undertaking. We fully recognize the severity of these findings, and intend to fulfill our oaths of office to uphold and enact the laws of the region to their fullest extent.
I'm also conscious, however, that this is a complex situation involving a high-profile figure in our regional politics and governance, and as such, it will take some time to achieve a resolution that is both appropriate to the situation and conscious of the internal structure of our regional functions. Therefore, I would ask the interregional community for its share of patience as we work to resolve this matter. I was happy to cooperate with this investigation when it was taking place, and I do intend to act upon its findings. As of now, Vac's titles and knighthoods have been revoked, and he has stepped down from the post of Prime Minister, effective immediately. Further, more formally judicial steps will likely follow, but these will take time, and the organs administering them cannot be rushed at such a delicate time. So while I cannot promise any immediate results beyond that which has already been done, I can personally vouch that we will continue to deliberate and act upon the information discovered in this investigation in the coming days and weeks.
His Britannic Majesty Henry IX King of Great Britain, Ireland, and France

If it did go more than one month, we could all be complaining about nothing happening.

Technically, this one took place in 2017...it's just the fallout that we're seeing in 2018.

New Prime Minister and Cabinet Recently, we have selected Arthur K. Vasentius as our newest Prime Minister. In his inaugural speech posted last Sunday, he outlined a set of progressive and ambitious goals for the new Civil Executive Government, now known as The People’s Premiership. The new Prime Minister stated in his inauguration that he will strive to pursue an “extra-ordinarily ambitious” Foreign Policy in reestablishing our international reputation, to promote a transparent Premiership with weekly “Peoples Prime Minister Questions” at the end of each week, and about answering to the people before all others. His selected Cabinet of “Secretaries of State” can be found at the top of the header of this Update.
Currently, the Prime Minister has held one “People’s Prime Minister Questions” last weekend with The House or Commons. Members of Parliament asked Prine Minister Wellington many questions about current progress of the government. Accusations were also thrown at the Prime Minister for “abandoning” his promise of taking a stand on poorly written legislation, and accused him of being “a fish out of water”.
That’s not Parliament! A new addition to the Region, and our Role Play has arrived, known as Mock Parliament. This Parliament functions much like our actual parliament, with bill templates and authoring of legislation. This Mock Parliament will focus on making legislation based off of real world occurrences, such as energy regulations, education, economics, and anything else that would go on in the real life British Parliament. The Mock Parliament is open to all citizens, and run by the Chairman. A Parliament would not be complete without it’s monarch, so we have a Crown Delegate to serve the role as King. The Crown Delegate’s job is to give his Royal Assent to all bills passed in Mock Parliament. Currently, not many bills have been passed, but it is ready for use at any time.
Parliament News
The houses of Parliament have been called into a Join Session last friday to discuss an Omnibus Amendment to the Constitution. The amendment contains multiple changed in all aspects of the government and the monarchy. Some important highlights of the amendment add the following: Allowing the Royal Election Commission to determine the amount of seats available to be filled. Allowing Parliament to hold a Vote of No Confidence of the Prime Minister. And granting The Monarchy full authority to manage and run the Royal Administrative Commission. The amendment also includes substantial changes to the Judiciary. These include allowing for a vacant Chief Justice to be quickly filled, and preventing Justices from overseeing cases if they have a cobflict of interest regarding the case. Discussion of the amendment is still ongoing.
In the House of Lords, an amendment to the Criminal Code is up for debate. Proposed by Sir Vac Mercer (MP), the new amendment protects the privacy of those who must hand over evidence for crimes related to Doxxing, Sexual Assault, and other real life privacy crimes. Secondly, it allows a trial to be held on Discord if the crime in question was in violation of forum Terms of Service. Lastly, it removes the Monarchs ability to grant Clemency, or probation, to those who have been tried and sentenced. Discussion is still ongoing.
In the House of Commons, things have been busy. First, a Vote of no Confidence is being held against the Hon. Member for Ireland, and Deputy Prime Minister Francis A. Stuart-Mountbatten. He is accused of an extended period of inactivity, 7 days or more, without prior notice. He will be voted out of his Parliament seat. Voting has commenced for the Vote or No Confidence.
An Invitation Your region has been invited to attend our Affair of the Heart Valentines day festival. The festival features pleanty of activities to partake in. Pleasant restaurants and Lovely contests awaits those who attend. Attendees should apply for a Cultural Visa.

11 March 2018
Late into February, HM’s Executive government was thrown into disarray and shutdown due to a Vote of No Confidence held in the House of Commons against former Prime Minister Arthur K. Vasentius. He was accused of negligence of duty in a Cabinet rocky with scandal, and a promise of a legislative agenda that never happened. Some of the scandals that were cited are as follows: The Deputy Prime Minister’s resignation, or removal from office, was unclear. And the Foreign Office was plagued with a Secretary shadowed with scandal in a foreign region, and a deputy who was accused of sexual misconduct abroad.
Commons began the voting period on Friday, February 23rd, and concluded later that day. Due to the lack of a Deputy Prime Minister, no PM, and subsequently, no Cabinet replaced the former Prime Minister, which shut down all Executive Government actions until the next general election. The election for Parliament took place as scheduled and concluded on the 4th of March. The new Parliament has selected Louis Mountbatten as the newest Prime Minister, with the government reopening on Tuesday. Mr. Mountbatten, who also served as Prince Royal until recently, chose to step away from his title after facing opposition to his election due to his strong ties with the Royal Family. Mr. Mountbatten has previously served in a variety of roles, including multiple terms as a Member of Parliament in both the House of Commons and the House of Lords, as well as Crown Delegate to the Mock Parliament.

Following the removal of former Prime Minister Arthur Vasentius, Prince Royal of the Kingdom of Great Britain Louis Mountbatten stepped up to the plate to serve as the region’s next Prime Minister. After a few days, Louis emerged as the only contender for the Premiership and secured the confidence of both Houses of Parliament. Following his ascension to the Premiership, the Prime Minister announced that he would be stepping down as Prince Royal for the duration of his tenure. In his inaugural address, the Prime Minister claimed that his government would pursue an ambitious agenda, both domestic and abroad before announcing his Cabinet for the term.
Citizens of Kingdom of Great Britain, My Friends,
I am humbled to stand before you today as the elected Prime Minister of our great region. We have seen a period in which the previous administration was inactive in pursuing it’s agenda, I pledge to you this day that will stop.
As you know I have concurrently been serving as the Prince Royal in the region, I announce that I will be stepping down as Prince Royal for the duration of my term as the Prime Minister of the region.
This Government will pursue an ambitious agenda, both foreign and domestic. We will continue the conversations that have been started with the Enadian Union, and further continue talks with The Galactic Order, as well as the talks began under my predecessor in The Britannian Kingdom and New United Kingdom. We will also pursue a bold legislative agenda. My administration will work to reform the Criminal Code and the Constitution for clarification.
My Cabinet will comprise the following people:
Deputy Prime Minister - Harold Coxon, I have chosen Harold to serve as my Deputy Prime Minister because he is a proven leader with knowledge Britain’s past, and a vision for the future.
Home Secretary - Rachael Arche-VerinGuard, I have chosen Rachael because she displayed an excellent work ethic as Home Secretary, and trust that she will continue her work this term with the same tenacity.
Foreign Secretary - Smith VerinGuard, Mr. VerinGuard is known for being well-connected and showed great potential last term as Foreign Secretary. This term, I trust, he shall complete the work that was begun only a few weeks ago, but this time under better leadership.
Culture Secretary - The Right Honourable Vac Mercer, Mr. Mercer is one of the better known faces of this region. He has been a member of this region since its founding, and has served in a variety of capacities during his years of service. As Culture Secretary, Mr. Mercer will revive KGB Radio and revitalize the BBC.
Attorney General - Rikki Arche-Mountbatten, Miss Arche-Mountbatten has served with excellence as Director General of the BBC during this term. As a member of the House of Lords, Ms. Arche-Mountbatten will speak with the government’s voice in that chamber, while and will assist my parliamentary colleagues in the British Royalist Party in drafting legislation.
These people are some of the best and brightest minds in the region, and I know that they will serve with great distinction.
Once again, I thank you the citizens of the region and my colleagues in Parliament for entrusting me with this sacred duty of leading this region as your Prime Minister. My office is always open for questions and comments.
Discussions for a regional pact between KoGB and the Enadian Union have ceased following weeks of fruitless efforts by HM Government. The Cabinet unanimously approved the closing of embassies with the Enadian Union and severing all ties. The decision came following lack of confidence in the usefulness of such a treaty, and remarks by Enadia’s founder to King Henry IX. Enadia’s founder, Harry, accused the King and the entirety of the region of being puppets to The Galactic Order. The Kingdom of Great Britain does not stand such insults to itself or to our friends in NationStates.
The Culture Office
In a statement to the region, Secretary of Culture Vac announced the revival of KoGB weekend games. In previous terms, the KoGB weekend games had become a staple for cultural activity in the region. The Department is currently in a polling stage, deciding on what games will be held. Despite having been scrapped before, many in the region are optimistic that the reintroduction of Weekend Games will bring further activity into the region.
The Prime Minister Succession Act: The Prime Minister Succession Act was introduced by the Member of Parliament of Wales Albert Philip Stuart. Originally, the proposal was designed to outline a method of succession for the Premiership should the Prime Minister’s and Deputy Prime Minister’s offices both become vacant. After a lively discussion, the proposal was amended to require the Prime Minister to name a Deputy Prime Minister within 24 hours of the office becoming vacant to prevent both offices from being vacated at the same time.
Amendment to the Criminal Code (2017): The Criminal Code Amendment (2017) was finally passed by the House of Commons with unanimous consent. The amendment has been debated by both Houses of Parliament for almost three months, but many are optimistic that an end is finally in sight. The amendment is a multi-faceted proposal with many separate amendments which make up the entire bill. Most notably has been the annulment of the Sovereigns power to place a tried and sentenced individual on probation in a declaration of clemency. Further additions were also made, including providing power to the Supreme Court to take private evidence in cases potentially sensitive to an individuals security such as doxxing and harassment. The amendment has also seen to it that any disclosure of private information originating from any government sponsored agency such as HMG and the Houses of Parliament are prosecutable by law.
Amendment to the Citizens Mock Parliament Act. A minor amendment was made to the Mock Parliament act, requiring all RolePlay legislation to be presented before the Crown or Crown Delegate for royal assent with exceptions being made for internal regulations.
The House of Lords
World Assembly Delegate Reform Act (2018) The WAD Reform Act proposed by Prince of Wales and current Lord High Chancellor of the House of Lords, Charles Lancaster, removes the power of the sovereign and Prime Minister to remove the World Assembly Delegate. Instead, the amendment replaces Parliament with the power to impeach the WAD. The act faced much scrutiny from the Lords before a vote was called and the amendment eventually shot down.
The Judiciary
Following the resignation of former Chief Justice Jacob Rees-Moggs, the Prime Minister was forced to name a replacement. After deliberation, the Marquis of Liverpool Owen Bonaparte was nominated for the position. His nomination was expediently confirmed by the House of Lords, securing Owen’s nomination to the Court. He officially donned the robes of Chief Justice on March 14.
On February 22, 2018, King Henry IX announced that he would be stepping down as World Assembly Delegate for KoGB. The decision came following a shift in the region to focus on its military development and engagement. The resignation took effect two weeks later, after 285 days of service. The Prince of Wales was named as Henry's successfor the position, ascending to the office of Delegate on February 24.

Office of The Prime Minister Persona Non Grata 03.04.2018
Citizens of Britannia and the general NationStates Community,
It has come to my offices attention today that the ruler of The Roman Empire, Emperor Plagentine, and one of his ranking officers, Legatus Festavo, were found to have been saying some rather disturbing and quite frankly wrong things in what they thought to be the privacy of the bowels of their server. The things said in this server were too disgusting to be said here on our forum or on the NSGP forum.
These are things that deeply affect not only our community, but the NationStates community abroad. As such, as Prime Minister, I hereby, with immediate effect, issue the status of Persona non Grata on the players known as Plagentine and Festavo. While I am aware that The Roman Empire declared that they would not work with us some time ago, the Prime Ministers office has always been keen on reversing that situation. I can safely say that after the events of the very thorough investigation by The Black Hawks, will no longer attempt to convince the Romans into working with us. Indeed the status of blacklisted is now mutual. Furthermore, we will not work with any regions that knowingly allow those two individuals into their leadership.
The Kingdom of Great Britain has not, historically, been an entirely LGBTQ+ friendly region. This history saddens, hurts, and confuses many of our members who are part of the LGBTQ+ community and we have a responsibility to protect them. The government of the Kingdom of Great Britain and the Administrative Team stand united to do our duty to protect the region from those who may cause its people harm.
If anyone wants to see the logs where this was said they may contact Minister of Culture Vac Mercer. For detailed questions about the investigation please contact The Hawk Council.
Signed,
The Rt. Hon. Sir Louis Mountbatten KCB, DSO, MM, AK, MP, PC, KC Prime Minister of The Kingdom of Great Britain

Treaty of Friendship signed with TGO March 21 - Following discussion with the Sovereign Empress Rachael Veringuard and then Grand Moff Maddie, the Kingdom of Great Britain and The Galactic Order came to a formal agreement of friendship between our two regions. The treaty comes on the back of months of continued cooperation between our two regions and discussion about the best course of action for our two regions moving forward into this new era of friendship. The Prime Minister regarded the treaty as the pinnacle of what has been months of regional and personal friendship between our two regions. The treaty was ratified by HM King Henry IX on April 10th
Prime Minister’s Pact signed with United Kingdom April 1 - Following months of discussion with the leadership in the United Kingdom, the two Prime Minister’s came to a formal non-binding agreement of military cooperation. The pact has been regarded by both sides as a first step towards building potentially stronger friendships. Despite the agreement being non-binding, the Prime Minister submitted the pact to parliament for their consideration, declaring in his statement that “it’s time we send a clear statement to the other regions in NationStates that we are taking our promises seriously.” The sentiment was well received by others in the region who shared the belief that KoGB must hold true to its word. The treaty passed both Houses with unanimous support and was quickly ratified by the sovereign on the 14th of April.
Treaty of Friendship signed with TBK April 5 - Deputy Prime Minister Harold Coxon submitted a proposal for a treaty of friendship with The Britannian Kingdom on behalf of the Prime Minister. The treaty has since passed through the House of Commons and is currently being reviewed by the House of Lords, after which it will be submitted to HM King Henry IX for his approval. The treaty comes following the increased cooperation between our two regions and our like minded ideologies. The treaty passed Parliament with no objection and was ratified by Prince Charles on Henry’s behalf.
The Duke of Westmorland April 7 - King Henry IX rolled out the Honours list for the 31st Parliament. Many members of Government and Parliament received awards, including, for some, the Order of the Garter. Most notably, however, was the Letters Patent for the new Duke of Westmorland Owen Bonaparte. The King distinguished Owen for his strength of character during the darker days of the region and his extensive service as Prime Minister, Member of Parliament, Lord of Parliament, and most recently being confirmed as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. Owen’s extensive service left no doubt in anyone’s mind that he was more than deserving of the title.
Scottish By-Election April 8 - Following the resignation of MP Rachael Arche-Veringuard, standing was soon opened to fill the vacant seat in Parliament. Three candidates eventually stood for the vacant seat: Jay Dee Bonaparte, Peter de Vitre, and JJ Capet. Peter had come off a meager term as Mock Chairperson, where he survived a vote of no confidence against him; Peter ran on fixing Discord roles, fixing the colonial system, and a mandatory seat in parliament for the Lord Spiritual. JJ was the most experienced of the three candidates, having held the position of Chief Justice for two years prior to leaving and a few terms in the Lords and Commons with a term as Lord High Chancellor, both he and JayDee ran on updating the law index and fixing many of the broken laws that still plagued the region. In the end, it was the sitting foreign secretary Jay Dee Bonaparte that emerged victorious, securing sixteen votes to Peter and JJ’s six and three respectively.
A Royal Wedding April 8 - In an address from the Court of Mountbatten Castle, the Earl of Ellesmere James Arche announced his engagement to the recently named Marquess of Liverpool Jay Dee Bonaparte. The engagement of the two men marks the first royal wedding in the Kingdom of Great Britain in over a year. The couple was officially wed on Saturday, April 14 with the entire region and foreign dignitaries from all across NS were in attendance for the Royal Wedding. The procession was held in Westminster Abbey and was lead by Peter de Vitre.
The Arche Revolution - April Fools April 1 - Matthew Arche, twin brother to James Arche, the Earl of Ellesmere, took control of the region by force in a terrorist attack against the region. King Henry IX and the Prince of Wales were forced to flee to Scotland where they mounted the first stage of their resistance against the new king. For the next week, a war was raged all across the British Isles as King Henry IX attempted to take back what was rightfully his. While the two waged war against each other, Jay Dee Bonaparte was dispatched to London where he discovered the Earl of Ellesmere locked up in the Tower of London. Despite most of the famous city having been levelled by Matthew’s forces, the Tower survived along with the real Earl of Ellesmere. The next day, Matthew was assassinated in Ellesmere moments before he was to be crowned and the revolution ended with the reveal of Matthew as a fraud. The citizens of the Kingdom of Great Britain enjoyed a fun week of roleplay and political intrigue in the exciting drama of Matthew vs. Henry.
