Good Afternoon,
We are at a crossroads in the path of Enadian history. We entered this 2nd year of our region’s existence with great hope, only to have it dashed away with an intense plague of inactivity and stagnation. At this point, I, my fellow cabinet members, and the rest of you have a choice to make. Are we going to choose to continue with stagnation and eventually fade into the trashcan of NationStates history as even some people abroad, as I speak, would rather us do? Or, are we going to change things and fight for the existence and flourishing of our region as the old guard who has been here before us envisioned for Enadia?

I myself am choosing the latter. I came to this region after drifting in a Pacific and subsequently founding a hermit region when I saw a telegram promising me opportunity and close comradeship. I have since taken that opportunity as a person who only a month after joining helped set up the now admittedly long-neglected newspaper and ran for culture minister when my boss at the time (bless her soul) had to leave. As minister, I tried to continue with her policies and even tried stuff of my own, some of which obviously had drifted out of my control. College soon dragged me away from this game for awhile but I returned to try and found my own region again, this time with a vision of seeing it function actively like it used to. However, right before I came back home from college for the break, I saw Enadia with clear eyes and realized I cannot leave my first love. Therefore, I came back home in real-life and regionally-speaking to not sleep, but to help this place in the way I saw most fitting.

I’ve learned my lessons from the failures I’ve faced. Well, not just me, this region as a whole has learned its lessons from failures. Afterall, how do you know when you’re succeeding if you haven’t failed? However, reading all the stuff I just told you, I want you to know that the result was not important.

“What?”

The thing that is important is that I reached for opportunity. What is our motto? A journey of a thousand miles begins with a simple step! I know I’m still on mile one, even as the newly-elected president. There are going to be times where I’m going to want to hitchhike because I don’t want to walk another mile. There have and are going to be times where I might trip or stumble. I always say whoever walks a thousand miles is beyond me anyway. All humor aside, you will probably experience the same. However, it’s the fact that me and you took our first step that matters. Our ability to learn and be resilient will also help us not only in the short-term, but in the long-term.

Afterall, our region is an experiment, a testbed for ideas as expressly stated in Latrovia’s dispatches from the early days of founding this region. In science, experiments are all trial-and-error, but regardless of the experiment, you end with a strong conclusion that proves whether your hypothesis was correct. Our ability to learn from the conclusions of experiments is what has advanced society; it is the same with the results of our actions.

So I invite everyone who hasn’t been active before in our region to take their first step and bring their ideas and “mmmph” to the table. I also invite everyone who has fallen by the wayside to get up, dust themselves off, and get back on the road with us. In fact, I invite everyone to join me on this journey, the journey to make Enadia a place we can love and see prosperous again. If we take that first step, I truly believe we can make that happen if we make the effort.

I myself in my presidency plan the following:

Education:

• I’m calling for a revival of Luxford, with GatherHubs becoming a permanent off-forum arm of the university.
• I hope to debut language studies, starting with French and Spanish, to make our region a multilingual place open to a larger pool of nation recruits and relations with a larger pool of regions as well.

Foreign Affairs:

• I wish to hold state visits with all the regions we share an embassy with, in order to revisit the strength of our bond and what it entails and, if we can, make the initial plans for inter-regional events and programs.
• I would also like to form some new relations with other possible, friendly regions if possible.
• I want us to have a nice, functioning military again. There are people in the region I know that would absolutely love to participate in some operations and realize their passion of defending, or maybe even raiding a Nazi region or two.

Culture & Interior Affairs:

• I would like to see the Enadian Morning Post re-established and even grown to the point of being independent of the Culture Ministry as I originally intended.
• I’m looking to have the Cinema and other interior activities rebooted for the public to enjoy.
• As I speak, changes are being made to the region’s Discord server to better serve the region’s interests and possibly foster activity not only on the server but also in the other outlets, such as our Forums.
• With an increase in creative activity, I hope to have a regional arts institute and museum opened for the enjoyment of Enadia and abroad.

I wish to express my thanks to the Enadian people for putting their faith in me to be the leader of a region that I feel, personally, has shown so much potential and accomplished great things in its time. I hope you will all choose to take the first step ever or first step you have taken in a while to make an Enadia that benefits itself and other regions alike. With teamwork and initiative, we can realize the dreams from July 4th, 2017 of a strong, prosperous Enadia.

EU | 06 Presidential New Year’s Speech

Good evening, my dear Enadian family. 2018 has been an eventful year. We have seen tragedy as a region, success as a region, and we have seen many nations come and go since December 31st, 2017.

This year, we celebrated the first anniversary of our founding after a chaotic Spring saw us through, what will hopefully be, the darkest time our region went through in our existence. I was among the nations that were welcomed into a region that was, at the time, experiencing the realities of region building in their most destructive stage. But, we came together, and swiftly put away those who wished to harm the community. We came together to rebuild, move forward, and attempt bigger and greater things.

The Summer was a time to celebrate what we have been able to accomplish as a region in its first year anniversary. We had made our first steps toward a regional press, attempted to hold a cultural festival with some success, and much more. However, even the efforts to move forward haven’t been without their challenges.

The Fall, and its simultaneous beckoning of some away from their Summer at the keyboard and back into classrooms and office cubicles brought a period of stagnation and inactivity, from which our great Enadia, as I speak, is still trying to revitalize and recover itself. Despite this, the people have again managed to come together and work on making Enadia a better place to be on NationStates. I feel we have a good government this term, and I have seen them working hard to breathe life back into the region.

As we go into the New Year, let’s look back on this 2018, where we repeatedly came together to make sure a region wouldn’t fade into history due to tragedy or inactivity, and be optimistic for what is to come in 2019. I think we have a great year ahead of us; one of prosperity and progress. I think we have learned lessons from this first full calendar year of Enadia’s existence and will be able to avoid the mistakes of the past. With the people’s help, which I know will be there as it always has been, we will be able to continue on our journey of a thousand miles. That journey, hopefully, will not end in 2019 or for a long time afterwards.

With that, I wish you and your families a safe, prosperous, and happy 2019 and may Enadia be successful as a region in this new year and forevermore!
