Retirement

As most of you have probably noticed, I haven't been all that active for the past couple months, and there's a reason for that. I just don't find anything about NationStates fun anymore and try as I might, I can't find anything fun or worthwhile to do here at this point. I'm not going to badmouth the game -- it is what it is, and maybe it's more me than it is the game. Regardless, if it's not fun anymore, then what is the point? I've been asking myself that question for the past couple months and I never have an answer for myself. The truth is I think this game has just become something I'm dependent on over the past six years (!), that it's more of an emotional crutch now than a game. That isn't healthy.
So, I'm pulling the plug on the dependence. This is my retirement post. I won't be back this time, I hope.
To those of you who have been my friends over the years -- you all know who you are -- I wish you nothing but the best in life, and all the best in NationStates as well. You guys have been great friends and I think probably the biggest reason I've struggled to give up this game is because I didn't want to give you up, and I knew to do the former I would also have to do the latter, or I would find myself right back here. So that said, I love you all, but you won't be hearing from me again. Please don't take it as me not valuing your friendships over the years. But I need a clean break from NationStates. Again, I wish all of you the very best in your lives and I hope life has nothing but great things in store for you. Just in case there was any lack of clarity given what has transpired between us since 2016, I include Tim in this too. You've been my friend for years and I'm sorry I've treated you the way I have over the past couple years. It's been inexcusable, and all I can really say is that I'm sorry and thank you for your friendship.
To those of you who are more acquaintances than friends, or to those of you who don't like me or vice versa, I wish you the best as well. I hope everyone still playing NationStates continues to have fun with it. I hope you'll all be better to each other, and better than I've been to many of you.
Best wishes to everyone, and good luck in your lives and in this game.
