You know what that means- it's the end of the year. It's time to reflect on our year, in Gameplay, and in our lives (by which I mean, gameplay).
Wait, I never said that!
This is definitely not an anonymous puppet and this is definitely a completely serious article about how to improve NationStates communities. It is also not propaganda.
First, let's consider the idea of choice. Choice is when there are multiple paths that one can take, and they take one instead of the other, because it is fun, beneficial, or will screw the system, or whatever other reasons there may be. In NationStates Gameplay, choice is a real thing. You have to choose your region, your side of gameplay, your friends, your enemies, and who to randomly troll every once in a while.
Onto that topic of choice in regions, when first founded, you are founded in one of the Feeder regions, which are humongous and indoctrinating in their policies. Then, you get recruitment telegrams from the User-Created Regions- which are pro-choice, even if they may skim over their weaknesses in the region, they only make a case. They do not compel you to join their region. Therefore, the UCRs are more pro-choice than Feeders, and, if refounded or ejected, sinkers and the Rejected Realms, too.
The second point to be discussed is democracy. Most people believe in democracy. Democracy is when the people get to decide important issues regarding government. Some support the idea when it comes to real-life, but do not when it comes to NationStates- because they just want more power. Since they do not hold public office in real life, they need more democracy, so that they have more decisions to make. But in NationStates, when they already have power- they need to keep it, so they run monarchies and/or dictatorships. This is true of a few UCRs, all the sinkers, and some of the feeders.
Then I ask the question. Is it democracy, when, at heart, you are a member of someone else's democracy? Are you really to be trusted when your loyalties lie elsewhere? Curious Observations, another nation that is definitely not an anonymous puppet, mentioned the rampant voter importation in Lazarus several months ago. Voter importation is against democracy. No person can serve two masters, whether that be Balder and Europeia, the South Pacific and The Order of the Grey Wardens, or Lazarus and Lone Wolves United, etc. It is just an attempt either to gain power across the board for oneself, or for your actual region.
A monarchy with only natives, in which the people in power will definitely be natives, is far better than a democracy with foreign voters, where foreign attachments get in the way of that democracy.
Some communities, however, have enough in common that perhaps you could be in both. These commonly separate down the lines of UCRs and GCRs. As the two types of regions function differently, their differences cannot be reconciled. The UCR will always be battling the GCR for recruits.
Now let us examine the Gamerite influence in one of the largest UCRs.
Europeia's president is the Queen of Balder, Solorni/Rach. It's very clear that, despite their similarities, the two regions are very different. It is likely that Solorni is attempting to gain power overall, but perhaps it is just for the welfare for one of the communities.
This is not a singular occurrence. Gamerite regions (those that oppose choice) feed off of UCRs, sucking the blood out of them for their own personal and regional gain. This cannot be allowed to happen. Gamerites cannot be allowed to stay in UCRs. The two cannot be reconciled, and must be segregated into eternity. Or else the general welfare of the communities will be in danger.
