And so it rises, an awesome darkness passing across sinkerdom. With it, the inevitable ignorance of events to come.
We are in the midst of a collision of power and ambition. Mere moments, in historical terms, from the outbreak of war.
It's traditional that at the end of a year, we ought to consider the journey we've taken. Consider Lazarus, its natives exiled with the support of raiders and imperialists leading Balder and Osiris (the same collaborators now accusing the South Pacific of transgressing for having tried to stop the rise of this annexation!). We have seen Balder and Osiris offer their support for this occupation, the Undead Dominion of Lazarus. In turn, we have seen the shape of the Undead Dominion take the form of its supporters in Balder and Osiris: monarchist, raider, and authoritarian. In the alignment of these three regions, the Pharaoh's calls for a pan-sinkerism ring opportune.
We are witnessing the formation of a new ideology. Sinkerism. Naturally, this value system will claim to be the true evocation of the local interests of their respective sinker regions. A belief in sovereign birthright and an affinity for aggressive powers that, in their minds, is necessary to achieve stability and the projection of power in light of the limitations of sinker regions. Sinkerism will conjure up many a word in the minds of players: "raider," "invader," "monarchist," "exceptionalist," "userite."
An ideology for the governance of sinker regions that proposes..
1) A strong sovereign monarch to guard the stability of the region.
2) An intimate, sycophantic alliance with those most likely to invade them otherwise.
The natural allies of sinkerism are the burgeoning raider aristocracy in the feeder regions - the Rahls - in addition to the Independent Manifesto's sphere of influence, independents and imperialists - a wide, bountiful association. The natural enemies of sinkerism will be a far more 'ragtag' gang, consisting of the exiled Lazarenes, the cowboylike Rejects, their friends to the South, and a New Pacific Order - all aware of the direness of the situation.
In the heart of Francograd sits the Eternal Flame whose fires will have burnt undisturbed for a saeculum. Older still is the code of defenders. But look around! The institutions of old are fading into the past. Their recent retreat inwards, a mere surrender of the calling. They already know what must be done. To survive, the Children of Francos and TheDoc will have to put aside their grievances to fight a greater fight. The dream of Pacifica, the Kingdom Come, will be dead if a new Pacific order rises in its absence. Nor will the call for freedom be met, if an empty despotism is left to befall the Pacifics.
Caught in the middle of this struggle is the North Pacific, the West Pacific, and the East Pacific. For them, the decision they face in this conflict is existential. A question, simply put, to support their old allies and their old raison d'être or embrace their new allies and the regions they have become.
The chess-pieces are in place, the intent is all but promulgated, the battle royale will soon arrive. What a year it will be.
