This. News with Booze has every GP newspaper beat this year and it would be a shame not to even be able to nominate them.

If it doesn’t get changed, I’m sending Unibot the medical bill for Koth’s liver transplant.

I agree on both points. Particularly the public voting, last year the public votes didn't come close to matching the results, which seemed pretty sketchy.

Second the change to "Best Gameplay Media Outlet", and not even because I want NWB to win. I figure it's time EBC Radio gets a shoutout for their consistent production after all this time.

Celebrating meltdowns in gameplay is a time-honored tradition and I'm deeply saddened to see so many people seeking to remove it from the awards.

Thanks,

I propose two new categories, designed to celebrate those among us who don't seem to do anything but without whom the game just wouldn't be the same:
  • Comfiest Armchair: Defender
  • Comfiest Armchair: Raider

Retired Major of The Black Hawks
Retired Charter Nation: Political Affairs in Antarctic Oasis
Retired Colonel of DEN Central Command, now defunct

Retired Secretary of Defense of Stargate
Terror of The Joint Systems Alliance
Mall Isaraider, son of Tram and Spartz, Brother of Tal and apparently Sev the treacherous bastard.

The problem is that it's inevitably going to revolve around either a. an OOC matter that happened or b. a DOS user, rather than about a purely IC Meltdown like the FRA Meltdown Award that Osiris won back in the day.

The FRA Awards got away with it because they were still primarily run in and around the R/D sphere and everyone as at least somewhat relatively educated. Running an awards in a public forum which many people who frankly don't know shit about R/D dynamics frequent and will inevitably still vote in is going to result in a lot less educated and OOC problem conscious voting. I mean hell, just look at what the NSGers have been saying in Moderation, for example. Half of them don't even seem to think OOC issues are a problem on this site at all.

Perfect.

Also, we should keep the meltdown award- just make sure not to give it to DOS people. The old FRA award it was based on was awarded to far more lighthearted incidents in the past, and there's no reason why we couldn't go back to that.

I mean, if our mysterious OP can enforce standards and refuse nominations of DOS Users and OOC matters, Meltdown would be fantastic to have still. I just didn't reallyy have too much faith in OP.

They can't all be that bad. They do have the flag of Aboriginal Australia for their avatar, so they understand the plight and struggles of their people. I actually find it refreshing many nations have this as their flag. It's almost as if it's a default flag or something.

That all being said, so long as they don't fudge the votes, all's good.

We don't know who the OP actually is.

But yeah, if there can be a rule against DOS/OOC matters, then I'm all for keeping meltdown as well.
