Pretty much our take on it. Besides, the existing rules cover the bases sufficiently- flames/threats/etc toward the mods are just as smackable as when directed toward non-mod players already. There's literally no productive purpose in granting mods some additional protection by trying to demand respect, and like everyone's already said, some very good reasons why such a power would be a very bad idea.

If we had that option, it would, in my opinion, really integrate the site with the offsite events either approved or monitored by an NS mod more than a news post.
Maybe the event organizers can use a Google Calendar to mutually hash out date planning? At least for organizational purposes. Not sure we could badger the techies into building an on-site calendar like that. ^^;;

A google calendar has accessibility issues. It would really not be hard though for someone to create a nation, call it 'ns calendar' or something, make a forum thread and list what's going on in handy categories. I could be stickied in useful places and people could submit things to add via tg; it could even have major events that take place onsight, like the world cup and Olympics, so people remember to sign up.
I'll do it today if you want.

History taught me that an NSGP off-site would go down in flames, provided you could get anyone to join it.
Westy and I were able to hold Neutral Territory together for about 6 weeks before it degenerated into misery and mayhem. We were absolutely ruthless with the moderation and it took up SO much time.
I just don't think it's feasible to have a long term off-site. As much as we like the idea of self-moderation, I don't think that people who are deeply involved in the drama can also be responsible for that drama's moderation. On the other hand, someone who is not involved at all will not be able to discern "necessary" conflict from "unhealthy," over-emotional conflict. It's tricky.
About the only person, I would trust to run it would be Winnipeg/Eureka because he really doesn't play any longer. He just Administers our off site. I also know he barely has time for TWP and would not be able to fit in any more work on his schedule.
PS. I like the calendar idea, if someone could figure out how to make it work.
