Guilt over helping defenders take over regions

Ive been dedicated to the defender cause for many years now. But I have caught guilt feelings. Should we have taken over Lazarus? Should we have taken over TRR for a ADN outpost? Should we have consciously taken over The South Pacific in our most recent expansion? This did not bother me in the past. Lately it has started to make me regret it. What if defending natives isn’t enough to justify covertly taking over regions. Do all natives matter or do the ends always justify the means. The power part of it meant I couldn’t be sure I was helping take over regions for the right reasons. Have any of you struggled with this?

This is a tension I grapple with; and that most defenders grapple with. How far is too far for the cause; is any length justified‽ We have done good after taking over TSP; this gives us a lot more bases and players to use. TSP was worth taking over; even if I did feel a bit bad. But better defenders take a region over; than darkspawn. the power does feel nice; like what you said; but its mainly the feeling of the darkspawn not getting regions like tsp that; that make it worth it.

I learned to write in Defenderism101 in my stay in TGW; I could try to take a refresher course. you should try to stay on topic though; this is important for many peoples.

I've been dealing with similar issues myself. I love to defend regions, and I love to help others. But sometimes, you need to do dishonest stuff for the greater good, stuff I'm not particularly proud of. There was one time when there was a big founderless region that was still pretty active. The raiders didn't have the numbers to get to the WAD in one hit without a miracle, but it was clear they might infiltrate the government and use the trust to swap past the cap. So I went in myself. I went in and I became government in that region, and I never told them who I was, and I pushed an agenda towards refounding. I really wish I hadn't, because the raiders managed to get the password off them in the process somehow and took it over. We lost the region, and it was my fault, because I was the reason why they tried for the refound in the first place. I felt really shitty for that. It was the dirtiest thing I've seen since 1998, when The Undertaker threw Mankind off Hell In A Cell, and plummeted 16 ft through an announcer’s table.

I understand your guilt entirely guys. I always felt bad about the long term infiltration and subversion of TSP, especially those parts where I had to pretend not to be a defender to make it happen. Six years and three times in the Delegacy later, I still can't get over it, despite all that has been achieved.

It's not possible to; get a rise from honesty. Defenders know that I speak the truth; from common truths like eating cold food instead of hot; for the best defending against dark spawn. To the greaters ones; taking over TSP and Lazarus; defending Lazarus from darkspawn who would take jewels from our crown.

Silence is the same as; getting a rise; but this should be impossible. Defenders know I speak the truth.
