re: Certain Puppet Storage Regions

Postby Lancaster of Wessex » Sat Jul 22, 2017 9:50 pm

Perhaps someone can enlighten me with an answer to this question/these statements.

There are several regions on NS that are merely puppet regions, containing anywhere from a few to over a thousand (mostly) puppets, e.g.:

*Palmyra Tudmur
*0000
*Ancient Lands

...whose states almost nearly all begin with "The Queen's State." They are seldom active, eat up ranking spots (as seen in the rankings for "Most Extreme" and others), and hardly if ever answer issues; they seem to exist merely for the point of existing.

So. Yeah. Why? Why create hundreds and thousands of puppets whose sole purpose is to only exist? I just don't...get it. And it seems kinda unfair/sucky that people who are actually trying to play the game by being active answering issues often get denied higher rankings simply because there are thousands of puppets who are not active and just exist, sitting stationary in their regions.

Of course I know it's not illegal to have all these puppets...I'm just trying to discover the logic and purpose behind it all. Any wisdom out there?

A lot of the puppets are likely name grabs from years ago, having a collection of all of the best rankings and nation names can be quite the feat given the amount of time it takes to do all that. Personally, I am only focusing on a few stats to try and take the highest rankings towards, notably the ones which dont have caps on how high the stat can get, so anyone in theory can get the #1 spot :P To answer your question though, im not sure.. I guess as a collection long after they stop playing the game?

Actually...

They're owned by a group of players that are hardcore into nation simulation. The main players in charge appear to have been playing NS since Antiquity, which means about 15 years.

They're not inactive. They have played the game to such a level that the site no longer gives them issues to resolve.

I'm pretty sure that doesn't happen. The rest I'm with you on, but I don't believe for a second that the game just stops giving nations issues (yes, even the same ones).
The side effects of hearing a view you disagree with can include confusion, nausea, and vomiting. Just try and listen to someone say anything politically incorrect without doing any of those things. Obviously, then, we have to consider the precious feelings of everyone we talk to. Some people don't want to be triggered, guys. It's their right as Americans.

I don't think he meant the every six hour issues. He probably meant it in the sense of "problems to be solved."

I can add Penglai to the list of regions where one person claims nation names, shuffles them away, then proceeds to do absolutely nothing with them. It's not illegal by game rules, as far as I know, but it certainly is frustrating.
