I'd have also figured that XKI was the high-horsed one here, historically. But apparently asking a pretty fair question about whether a forum that historically bars raider will be relaxing that rule for this event is "being buzzkill" and and reason to be threatened with being barred from the event individually?

Nice. Real nice.

Hey Souls, we would be glad to have you in the festival discord and in TSP if you're interested. It's turning out to be quite fun, so if you're into HP stuff, please do join :) I can't speak for XKI, but if you shoot a message to their leadership, as Alkasia said you'll probably get an actual answer on the status of their forum. I'd be surprised if they prohibited people from participating in festival segments - it's not even 'delving in' to the actual main part of the forum - but neither I nor TSP can speak for XKI (which is why this thread isn't really the right place to post, or at least post and get an answer). It is a legitimate concern - assuming it's in good faith - because this festival is for everyone who likes HP and the people in TSP and XKI, including raiders =p I just don't think you'll get a satisfactory response here.

That said, if you're picking this point because you just want to pick and never actually planned on attending - please don't. It's not a productive use of anyone's time, and solves no problems other than making everyone hate each other for useless reasons more :P
Take each of my posts individually. Often I argue a position in one post only to say something contrary to it in the next one. :P

There's this lovely new feature in NS (not sure if you've seen it before), called Telegrams. If you want to ask a question then use this amazing new feature on a XKI government member or forum admin to ask your question.

Oh my god, could this Souls-bashing get any more needless?

I wasn't going to say anything, but it just keeps going and going...
Props to Somyrion for being polite and helpful instead of joining in on it.

I have a strange feeling that Souls here is just picking to pick at something(if that's not the case, I'll have no problems recanting) as opposed to actually wanting to participate in the event.

Fave things about the festival of friends so far:
1. The intense fandom discussions
1. Sirius and Snape - were they good people, yes or no? Why?
2. J.K. Rowling hated Slytherin and loved Gryffindor - how would a more balanced approach to Houses look?
3. Favorite fan fiction stories\videos

2. The dressing room shenanigans and subsequent Yule Ball roleplay
3. Hufflepuff common room being the best and like lit asf
4. Cards Against Muggles (for mature audiences only, lol) and how hilarious it is esp with VC ;)
Merpeople?

5. A festival of fun, chill and p cute people <3

A response like this makes me feel like my intelligence is being mocked. I'm not falling for this. I've been in this game long enough to know better, damn it. Souls is being picked on because he's a raider. It has nothing to do with whether or not he attends, or what thread he asked his question in. Y'all even have the lack of self-awareness to do this in a thread still called the "Festival of Friendship".

Tim, Alk, Kangalia... You are prime examples of why it's possible that a player so extremely disenfranchised by raiderism couldn't manage to get into defending.

Well firstly, since you are jumping to conclusions, I personally was not mocking your intelligence, now you are perfectly entitled to think that, I don't really care either way, but that's certainly not the case. I'd be much, much more blunt.
Secondly, I don't give a damn about alignment, quite frankly if anything I'm picking on Souls because it's Souls and for the last year of my time on NSGP I have seen Souls go from trying to be(in Tim's words) the "Hall Monitor" of Gameplay to having such an air of unabashed, holier-than-thou act so many times I'd have thought it was Cormac's political alignment(no disrespect there Cormac, just an analogy :p)

Now then, let's get into that last line. Firstly, please please please see that it's Kanglia, and you added an extra a. This isn't a big deal though since it is like, 2 am here atm. Now as far as your comment itself, I don't speak for Tim or Alk(who btw I never see on GP, so I'm not sure why you're lumping him into the same category here) but I really don't care about the whole concept of "adding numbers to the defender side" Sure, more people is great and all, but this whole view of defending out of sheer morality just doesn't sit with me at all. When I defend(which isn't much anymore) I do it because I enjoy spending that 45 minutes to an hour talking with the people I defend with. I totally understand the moral obligation some people have with defending, but I certainly don't subscribe to it.

TL;DR: Who gives a shit about alignment, it's a fucking event for people to have fun, and acting as if XKI is the bad guy here, or acting as if people aren't invited to an event because of alignment is both childish and unnecessary.

To you Souls, if you would like to attend it, I can't speak for XKI, but I'm sure my fellow TSPers would be delighted to have another Harry Potter fan.

Oh, so you aren't leading the charge against Souls, you're just following around like a good foot-soldier, and repeating the smears. "Hall Monitor". "Holier-than-thou". Let's throw in a smear against Cormac just for old time's sake. No disrespect though! Smilie face!

If you don't speak for Alk, then don't speak for Alk.
As for the rest of this, I didn't talk about, nor do I care about how moral of a defender you are. Same deal for how active you are. This whole paragraph was a waste of time.

I never acted like XKI is "the bad guy" here. Don't stick false narratives to me. As for "acting as if" people aren't invited to an event because of alignment, it's not acting and it's not a hypothetical when that's the entire basis for why Souls asking his question was a big problem. This is an absolute repeat of the Defender Awards, for god's sake! Souls asks a harmless question, defenders act like he committed murder, and ban him entry. I bet he's already been banned from this!

I came into the thread advertising an event, to ask about part of said event, that has only been mentioned in said thread. Where in the world would it make sense for me to go gravedig some XKI embassy thread to ask a question regarding this event, when this is clearly the place advertising the event? Likewise, when no specific organizers have been named at all, why would it make sense to randomly chase one down through telegrams when I could just ask in the thread for the event, and let whoever was qualified to answer the question do so? I really don't understand why it's such a foreign concept. Even if the first response was "Hey, I don't know, that's more of a question for XKI specifically, even though we're sharing hosting," the follow-up could easily have been "...so let me reach out to them and get an answer for you!" rather than basically "fuck off, and don't come for asking."

For the record, it was a serious question, because though I lack the time at the moment, several folks I know were interested, but unsure given XKI's usual policy if they could attend those portions of it. While that question remains not completely answered, I'm not sure it much needs to be anymore...said friends haven't been all too impressed with the attitude of this "festival of friendship" in replying to what could have been a pretty simple question to the event organizers. If you want to sell it on being full of "chill people," as Escade put it, maybe try having a little goddamned chill?

Edit: Thanks to Somy at least for making an effort to give a real and polite answer. Maybe you should run for TSP's FA slot?

I do have to agree with Souls that this is, in my opinion, an appropriate avenue to ask that question, and I'm happy to see that it has been pretty much answered.

That being said...

Absolutely not. If Plagentine or Jakker or Koth or Valkyrie or most others would have asked, the response would have been different. It's not because Souls is a raider, and it's not because peeps are blindly following some moniker, but rather this is a purely Souls thing, well-earned after 11 months of on-site and off-site skullfuckery.

I'm also a little curious about this as well if the Prime Minister of TSP is justifying the kind of response that Souls received. Because basically you just said Roavin, "Souls did everything right by posting the question in this thread, but he deserved to be shut down and mocked." That seems a little strange.

Also, I can only speak for myself, but I doubt I would have been treated much better if I asked :P

This is the like Xth event that me and TSPers have thrown. We throw good parties. Do other regions\groups throw parties? I don't know or amn't paying attention maybe. Are we the only ones throwing parties? #tsp-sorority-house? #-i-knew-i-was-a-puff

Lots of people (at this count 69 NSers) are attending or want to attend the Harry Potter and the Festival of Friends event. Even some people who hate on TSP on a regular basis seem to want to attend. Hey, the more the merrier as long as we're being like merry or at least chill. Also, fun fact - you have to be able to interact with TSPers and their friends\allies in a non-douchey way because...obvious... >:)

The primary goal though is really to have fun and enjoy ourselves and build community and friendships. This festival has a fandom bond which is Harry Potter but several of the people attending don't know or love the books as much as I or others do. We still enjoy their company :P If you follow the norms of like civility and are not bringing negative vibes then you should be good to party!

The majority of the festival is taking place on Discord (https://discord.gg/AHzvp4Q). There's an invite, if you can follow along and accept the above - you're welcome to attend!

If there is a forum event (TSP or 10KI)that for some reason you really want to attend but can't sign up on the forums, and you're like a nice person just DM me. I will try my best to make an alternate version on Discord. However, there are a like a ton of things to do on Discord!

P.S. TSP is hosting or co-hosting two more upcoming events (Worlds Art Fair and R\D Olympics and congrats to Kanglia our MoRA who will be lead on those and watch this space for more info <3).

P.P.S We got Wolfia, a mafia bot with an Xmas mode in which Santa can give guns, angels, and bombs out. However, I still highly recommend TRR's Werewolf bot because at least there you can let out your inner harlot. >:)

P.P.P.S. CAM (Cards Against Muggles) games will run around 5pm EST and then 10pm EST tonight so if you want to experience it, get on there!

He has not been banned from this event. The Discord has remained open to all as has been stated numerous times, and I don't think TSP will mind on their forums as long as it remains civil.

Souls can join at any time he wants, there's nothing stopping him (Except for XKI's forum rules, however that's only one part of the event, with plenty of other things to join in on elsewhere).

Roavin wrote:I do have to agree with Souls that this is, in my opinion, an appropriate avenue to ask that question, and I'm happy to see that it has been pretty much answered.

First off, we must have different definitions of "pretty much," because Tim and COS have said "probably allowed," Alk (who is actually from XKI) effectively said both "maybe, maybe not" at first and then "not allowed" in the post just above, Somy and Kang said "not sure," and Escade implied that it might be a "not allowed" in her most recent post. That is anything but a clear answer.

And second off, excuse me?

Is there an accusation you'd like to make?

Jakker said it well, and you dodged answering him properly, but seriously - is this really how the Prime Minister and FA minister of TSP are going to handle a simple event question? By the PM doubling down on the FA Minister's name-calling with a random, serious (if vague), accusation of misconduct?

Honestly.

I dunno how else you expect us to act, Souls, when the majority of your posts in Gameplay these days seem to be griping for the sake of scoring political points. Add that to the fact that it seems anytime The South Pacific has a festival it results in people trying to attack us over it and a frosty reaction to you seems understandable.

If you want to come to the festival, we'd love to have you. However, you have a history of trying to score petty political points off of stuff, and it's not unreasonable anymore for me to think you would only show up to continue that track record. If you don't like having that perception about you, then maybe it's time for some self-reflection and change.

I'm speaking as an individual not as a government official here, so please stop playing petty politics. After all, you lot seem real eager to dismiss commentary as "individual opinion" when it's politicians more aligned with you saying it.

Again, another smear against Souls without anyone providing any examples to back it up. I guess if you repeat it enough, it becomes the truth, huh?

Tim-Opolis wrote:Add that to the fact that it seems anytime The South Pacific has a festival it results in people trying to attack us over it and a frosty reaction to you seems understandable.

Well that can't possibly be a problem with The South Pacific, can it?

Tim-Opolis wrote:However, you have a history of trying to score petty political points off of stuff, and it's not unreasonable anymore for me to think you would only show up to continue that track record.

Again, this "scoring political points" thing. There are apparently SO many reasons that Souls is terrible, but no-one even provides an example of it. It's purely "Souls is terrible, because Souls is terrible!".

Sorry, Syl, that I'm on my phone and can't be arsed to burn battery sifting through Souls' posts. I'm trying to enjoy a nice day of America's Greatest Sport and will be sure to compile the data for you when I get home, despite it being not too tough to find.

As for The South Pacific, I find it hilarious that you're going to call me out for not linking specific evidence regarding Souls but will then go to make your own claims without providing evidence. What's that you said, something about pots and kettles? ;)

So, Souls is such a bad hombre that it's a natural response react this way to him, but you have to go sift through his posts to find something to back it up? That doesn't add up.

As for also making claims without providing evidence, I'm hoping they'll be backed up by the commentary during this thread before I need to provide. Besides, I'm not the side trying to make someone a social pariah, so I should be comparably less inclined to provide evidence to my claims than y'all.

If you want to come to the festival, we'd love to have you. However, you have a history of trying to score petty political points off of stuff, and it's not unreasonable anymore for me to think you would only show up to continue that track record. If you don't like having that perception about you, then maybe it's time for some self-reflection and change.

I might expect y'all to act halfway like ministers. And you know, even if we run with the assumption that "I'm always out to score political points" or whatever, well, I can look past the "buzzkill" comment, and almost the "douche" one, given that dug-in assumption of yours. I think it's poor behavior of an official still, and I might expect other officials to tone it down, but I can see it. You know what's a lot harder to fit in with that? Whatever the fuck doubling down on those with accusations of "OOC skullfuckery" is. Are you really astonished that I might take issue with that, and expect behavior otherwise? Maybe *you* should reflect a bit, and consider that maybe it's the behavior of your own people that creates "attacks" on your region. See, sometimes going around and tossing out accusations of OOC misconduct, then running from explaining them, doesn't go over well.

Finally, if you're gonna hide behind "oh I'm speaking as an individual, not the TSP FA person," in the TSP thread, responding to a question about a TSP event, it's probably also best to start off the bat with that line in your initial reply, rather than to jump to it well after the fact. Just some advice.

Just gonna throw in a Harry Potter fact I figured out when I read the books years ago :p..... Harry Potter and Lord Voldemort(Tom Riddle) are related by blood . How do I know? The Deathly Hallows. The three Deathly Hallows objects, the Elder Wand, Resurrection Stone, and Cloak of Invisibility were originally shared by the three Pevrell brothers. After the brothers died, the Elder Wand was lost and the Resurrection Stone and Cloak of Invisibility were passed from father to son down through the years in their respective family branches. They were passed on until, eventually, Tom Riddle took the Resurrection Stone from his grandfather by force and turned it into a Horcrux and the Cloak of Invisibility was passed onto Harry Potter by Dumbledore after Dumledore saved it from Harry's childhood home after Voldemort killed his parents. Just a little fun-fact I thought I'd share :p
