That's a good question, my instinct is to say mermaids because they don't function like vampires so yes..mermaids :P

Also, hit us up in the TSP FA Discord or via DM and we can talk about the latter :)

Mermaid(Merman?) me up!

Maybe when I've put more thought into it then "hey, this would be fun."

Aww derps, the mermaids and mermen of the seas and oceans will also fight for your right to exist. All reverse mermaids like derps and her kinfolk should also have rights and also perhaps some coral reef underpants to keep their dignity intact. 8)

Edit: OMG derps\devi vytherin thinks mermaids are tasty ;,; do all reverse mermaids want to eat mermaids? is that double cannibalism?

A Journey Into Middle Earth - A Tolkien Fellowship Festival!

Postby Escade » Wed May 09, 2018 6:16 pm

A Journey Into Middle Earth
A Tolkien Fellowship Festival
(TRR + TSP + NPO)
Image
Dates: Friday May 18 - Sunday May 27

This festival honors the fellowship between three marvelously allied regions and our shared admiration for all things Tolkien. Join us in celebrating Tolkien’s intricately detailed works, from the books (The Hobbit, The Lords of the Rings trilogy, The Silmarillion) to the movies and games inspired by his expansive imagination. Tolkien has a substantive impact on the genre of fantasy (inventing, for example, the modern conception of elves) and helped make the fantasy genre marketable and recognizable. We will be paying homage to the fantasy genre as a whole!

Sneak Preview of Events and Activities
The majority of events will take place on the TSP Discord on weekends, unless specified, and will cover as many time zones as possible!

First of all, on your journey through Middle Earth you will take an NS Themed Middle Earth Race Quiz and choose to join the elves, the hobbits, the dwarves, the humans, the wizards, or the ents. Once you’ve joined a group you will be able to earn points for your team and determine who rules Middle Earth!

Image

To earn points you will be able to:

Show your lore skills in Tolkien themed trivia contests (Easy\Fun mode based on the movies and Nerd\Hard mode based on the books and the extended texts)

Submit a Lord of the Rings or fantasy inspired story, poem, artwork, or fan fiction to the Inklings Creative Stall. All entries will be received by esteemed judges and awarded points!

Saucily win Lord of the Rings themed Cards Against Humanity games!

Triumph in Lord of the Rings themed Werewolf games (bot) or forum Werewolf game (hosted by TRR).

Engage in battle in Chivalry Medieval Warfare and strategize in Crusader King II.

Take part in a Tolkienesque Thinksame on the NPO RP discord.

Go on an adventure in a NPO Discord run Lord of the Rings fantasy roleplay with well-written posts!

Win at io games including hordes.io and zomb.io

Compete in a Battle of Umbar game (Battleship style between Gondor and the Corsairs of Umbar in TA 1810) with a team!

Race across the Discords of TSP, NPO, and TRR to collect clues that will help you solve a riddle in an Easter egg hunt!

Image

That’s not all! We will hold Discord Voice Chats for most games, casual fantasy roleplays, fandom discussions, meme contests, and other fun events and activities that will help you immerse yourself in Middle Earth!

Image
We invite allies, friends, well-wishers and all those who love Tolkien, fantasy and come with honor and valor!

And so it begins, an unexpected journey...

This festival brings together three allied regions and a new friend.

TSP has enjoyed holding events with TRR (CULT) which strengthened our alliances and shared interests. In addition, we've had the pleasure of seeing our relations with NPO develop and build from our Game of Thrones Festival, to our amazing Nuke Day collaboration to this festival and the Treaty of Capricorn between us! Finally, we welcome Forest as a co host into our midst for their active and ecofriendly regional interests!

We hope you enjoy this celebration of all things Tolkien and fantasy!

Join us on the TSP Discord!

A coarse shouting is heard over the foggy water as a the largest ship most people had ever seen floated by.

The worst old ship that ever did sail
Sailed out of Harwich on a windy day

[Chorus]
And we're waiting for the day
Waiting for the day
Waiting for the day
That we get our pay

She was built in Roman time
Held together with bits of twine

[Chorus]

Nothing in the galley—nothing in the hold
But the skipper's turned in with a bag of gold

[Chorus]

Off Orford Ness she sprang a leak
Hear her poor old timbers creak

[Chorus]

We pumped our way round scalby Ness
When the wind backed round to the west-nor'-west

Yargh me maties! we be havin a blast over at the LOTR Festival playing hearty games of Battle Boats till the dawn begins to rise! ye all are missing out by being landlubbers and not joining in!

Swigs more rum as the Sea Shanties start back up as the pirate heads back to where House Teararia told him to sail to.

The Eight Battles At Dawn
On Friday and Saturday and way into Sunday morning we engaged in festivities and frolicking and the Eight Battles at Dawn.

Festival guests chose to join the battle for Middle Earth as elves, ents, dwarves, humans, hobbits, or wizards.

Seven teams compete to determine who shall rule and with what kind of fist. We had so much fun playing trivia (light and hard mode), Cards Against Humanity, Werewolf, and Battleship (now known as Battle Boats <3) as well as engaging in general banter, casual roleplay and fun times.

The Official Tally of Points for the Eight Battles at Dawn:
Elves - 72
Dwarves - 12
Ents - 36
Humans - 81
Hobbits - 21
Wizards - 17

Humans seemed like they were lagging behind but dominated at the end of the battles and took the first victory. Fear not immortal and mortal ones, for we have another series of battles (Battles of Dusk and Battles of Twilight) planned to even the odds!

1. The Battle of the Brains Round 1
In the First Battle of the Brains we had an exciting matchup between the 7 Armies. They battled hard, answering trivia questions as accurately and quickly as possible. Ultimately the elves came out with the victory.

Image

Followed close behind them were the proud Hobbits, and in third place we had the majestic Ents. While skulking in the caverns below the dwarves came in fourth but are poised to strike at the other armies as they increase their ranks and call upon the lore power of the one known as Roavin.

Meanwhile the armies of man have been dealt many severe blows after finishing with no points. Rumors of powerful wizards rumble over the battlefield yet known have been seen henceforth. Keep faith though all armies as hope is not lost...

2. The Battle of Wit and Humor Round 1
In a thrilling battle of words at the cusp of dusk the Elves once again crushed the competition with the highest points. They were led by a mysterious leader with a lavender and silver bow in fantasy themed cards against humanity.

Most of the Dwarves stayed burrowed in the ground as they did not trust wit beyond measure as the greatest treasure but one did try their hand and gained a point for their people. The humans tried to compete but without their leaders were demoralized and easily defeated with no points.

The Hobbits were able to stand steadfast with a small number of points, their quick-witted tongues provided some points but alas they were forced to retire for third dinner after being browbeaten by the elves.

Lastly the Ents were hard-pressed to engage in verbal battle due to anatomy holding them back. They performed admirably even with the many stereotypes against them.
Image

3. The Battle of Mystical Realms Beyond Round 1
At night, the seven armies were teleported into a mystical realm with werewolves and shamans and hunters. In this realm as well the elves edged out a close victory with 4 points in this round and a total of 14 points in the battle.

The Hobbits were furious fighters here and have held onto second place with 5 points.
Image

Right behind them were the steadfast ents, that, while fighting bravely, earned no points as well but held onto 4 points overall. The dwarves, still biding their time refused to leave their caverns until they had molded new weapons in their forges. The humans, under the leadership of their King, rallied bravely but came up short still with 0 points.

4. The Battle of Brains Round 2
In this battle of the brains, one that went deep into the lore and history of Arda and Middle Earth - the Ents showed true form and dominance. They had spent thousands of years contemplating and observing the world around them and it seems knew everything.

5. The Battle of Wit and Humor Round 2
Image
Once more the elves dominated round of wit and humor with their cards overcoming humanity and the other races. Cheeky elves posted screen caps of cards that should have won but their brethren won anyway.

6. The Battle on the High Seas Round 1
Image
Elves took to the fore in this battle on the high seas between ships and captains. This battle raged on for three hours as the seven armies fought gallantly. Sea shanties were sung and fogs of war lifted to show enemies in plain sight.

7. The Battle of Brains Round 3
The dwarves had made some claims to dominating the battle of the brains but the ents outplayed them and won the day once more.

8. The Battle on the High Seas Round 2
Image
For four and a half hours, way into the early dawn, 12 players, 1 host and several spectators were immersed in a one of a kind experience.

Elves, wizards and other races formed the Montrekon Brigands and faced an all human Middle Earth Squadron. The Montrekon Brigands were hearty and full of riposte and moved aggressively on the high seas. The humans lay in wait and trapped them one by one until they defeated all but one of their ships. Yet never had a battle been fought with so much cheer and camaraderie making this truly a night to revel and remember.

The wizard Kyrusia enchanted all with his wit and words of sublime beauty:

It arrived! At last! The final call of the damned! Sword to sword! Dagger to dagger! Cannon to cannon! A seemingly endless moment where powder-fire filled the air, the stench of decay overrode all sense and logic, and sanity faded away into the primal instinct for survival and vengeance rooted at the depths of both man and beast.

The sea came to swallow the murderous marauders who were brought beneath the bow of their enemies just as much as the Leviathan came to devour its quarry. Crushed and torn, riddled with holes, the Mer-witch sang her bewitching song one final time that eve, but to a listless audience with no avail.

Many a life was lost, and ever more scarred irreperably by the horrors the sea beheld. At last, the Leviathan slept, having consumed its quasi-mortal matron-child, if but Death's own offspring. To the depths they fell as the victors, for what a Phyrric one it was, remained aloft, stranded and as listless in the doldrums as they were in fervor.

Yes, the day was taken, but the sea is a mistress - harsh and cruel. A fool says her limit is land; a wise man knows her song reaches into the dreams of many, and in the waves of slumber, twists hope and courage into horror and dread.

Once more, she will call. Once more, she will have her rightful due.

Special Shoutouts to:
Mad-Eye Jack, Serres, Kyrusia, The Grim Reaper, Pronin, Mira, Kon, Nequedem, Lethoica, Alkasia, Dyl, Dante Wattinrae Martel, Kozmix, ShyGuy, and everyone else who I missed who has made this festival a blast <3

Thanks to my co-host Ian Fleming and our Maker of Things, Roavin, and to Nequedem and to Areuldeur\Aclion and Sassoon and the rest of the festival staff for making this a delightful event!

The longer post for "8. The Battle on the High Seas Round 2" is well-deserved and gives justice to the tone that event took. I'm glad to have played a role in inspiring such a thing to take place! Thank you for this event and I look forward to the Battle Boats game tomorrow. :)

I. The Quest for the Star Of Elendil

Image

Once long ago the light of the star of Elendil was so brilliant that it hid the light of all the other stars. Varda, the Lady of the Stars, fashioned it into existence and her husband Manwe, Lord of Arda, breathed into it immortal glory. One of the Valar stole a piece of the star and fashioned out of it a jewel, the Star of Elendil, that brought light out of darkness, and made order out of chaos. The Star could blind entire armies and fashion new wondrous musics from the light playing upon the world. One of the Ainur thought it too dangerous and stole it and hid it in a place where its light could not penetrate.

The star was lost for centuries until recently. A map has appeared that claims to lay a trail to find the Star and restore it to its true brilliance and power. Brave adventurers and seekers of that which has been lost set on a journey. For the one who finds the star brings its grace and light not only into their lives, but will be able to use to shape the future of Middle Earth.

What is the Quest?
This quest is available to all festival guests in the TSP Discord (you must have selected a Middle Earth race to earn points for your team). If you haven't joined, never fear we have a week of festivities left. Join here now: https://discord.gg/HFws7Ac

There are 21 riddles (plus a bonus extra hard one) that adventurers must solve in a particular order. Each successfully solved riddle earns the adventurers points. Adventurers may choose to pass on a riddle (and therefore earn no points for that particular one). Players may earn up to 105 points for their team\race by completing all the riddles (+bonus).

Riddles require you to find information on particular Discords which are significant to the co-hosts (TRR + NPO + TSP + Forest) for this event! The information may require you to do a search, look through pins, take a screen cap or ask for help!

First, you need a map to go on a epic journey. This map outlines the Discords in play:

Then, you need an Oracle!
Image

The oracles for this quest are:
Escade, Ian Fleming, Nakari, and Sassoon

Adventurers must DM their oracle and ask them for their first riddle! Then we will track your progress through our mystical arts!

Elves will find Escade Elentari to be their oracle and must go to her for the first riddle.

Hobbits and ents will find Tom Bombadil (Ian Fleming) to be their oracle and must go to him for their first riddle.

Dwarves will find Nakari to be their oracle and must go to her for their first riddle.

Wizards and humans will find Sassoon to be their oracle and must go to him for their first riddle.

Please remember that oracles are not at your beck and call. If an oracle does not respond within a reasonable time frame, you may ask Tom Bombadil for help as he is the oldest living being in Middle Earth and may be able to summon them for your assistance.

Image

P.S.

The event has been divided into three great Battles. The Battle of Dawn which is past us. The Battle of Dusk which is upon us. And the final battle will be the Battle of Twilight which is to come. The race you selected when part of a battle is the one that will earn points for that phase of the event. (I.E. If you suddenly change your race midway through the quest, your race at the start of the quest will earn the points).

[b] The Official Tally of Points for the Seven Battles at Dusk

Elf - 507

Dwarf - 356
Ent - 309
Hobbit - 135
Human - 130
Wizard - 5*

Escade's hosting points (800 million) all go to Kyrusia <3

The elves completely dominated this phase of the war. They had the highest recruits (players) and the most active overall.

1. The Battle of the Brains
Image

In the Battle of the Brains we had an exciting matchup between the 7 Armies. They battled hard, answering trivia questions as accurately and quickly as possible. Questions, over three rounds, ranged from light Tolkien trivia (movies), to nerd mode (Silmarillion, anyone), to a special geography edition (Middle Earth and our Earth).

The elves dominated the trivia overall with Tim grabbing those points for the elf team in the light and geography rounds with his luck and mental agility.

Hard mode trivia was dominated by the dwarves (although ents tried their best) and Roavin stole the round with the majority of points.

Finally, in the special geography edition, it was a chaotic battle! Elves, dwarves, hobbits and ents battled ferociously to prove they were the sharpest minds in Middle Earth. Elves subjugated the game with their charm and luck, winning over the dwarves by one point. Hobbits were close behind as were ents and this game truly saw all the races competing for the win.

2. The Battle of Wit and Humor
Two rounds of Cards Against Humanity, coupled with VC, were played to determine the wittiest and funniest members of Middle Earth. Shout out to Tom Bombadil (Ian) for taking a lead in both games.

In the first round, Roavin took the game showing that dwarves could be intentionally funny (and flirty) :P
Image

In the second round, Jar (Dante Wattinrae Martel) pummeled the game after being in a three way close competition with Roavin and Ian. The Ent proved they could be mischief makers too.

3. The Quest for the Star of Elendil
15 players attempted the Star of Elendil Quest to win up to 105 points for their teams!
Image

10 finished the quest and received the magical object that gave a huge boost to their teams:
Lethoica - Elf (First to Finish)
Miravana - Ent
Roavin - Dwarf
Nequedum - Dwarf
Roquentin - Elf
Serres - Human
Kurczak Mielony - Elf
Cookieve - Elf
Seraph - Dwarf
AstroVulpe - Ent

5. The Battle on the High Seas - Battle Boats Edition
This edition of Escadian Battleship was alleged to be a speedy edition. However, battle on the seas takes many twist and turns!

Teams had to work with members of other races to defeat each other. The conflict was tense, with each side trading blows, no clear victor immediately presenting themselves and the battle ended in a draw. The remaining ships gave up their lives of war and settled for peaceful fishing.

6. The Battle at Osgilliath (Roleplay)
The Orcs attack Osgilliath with overwhelming force! Humans, dwarves, elves, and others band together to fight the hordes! Will they win or lose? Check out the NPO RP for more!

7. The Battle on the Tentacled Kraken
Serres, Battleship Master Strategist, conceived of a entirely new mode of Battleship in which the Middle Earth races had to work together to defeat a tentacled Kraken.
Image

After one ship sank to the depths, players banded together to use their brains and even though some were eager to enter battle without thought - cooler heads prevailed!

Image
Against all odds, the peoples of Middle Earth were able to win with Admiral Lethoica being the brains of the battle and Ian Fleming being the brawns (and using his dagger to stike the kraken in its head for a killing blow).

Special Shoutouts to:

All Good Things Come to a Close

Dear festival goers,

It has been a pleasure these past two weeks journeying through the lands of Middle Earth with you!

We have had such a marvelous time playing games together, bantering, role playing, and competing in fun ways. We hope you enjoyed meeting travelers from new lands and hope that you will continue to work and build with them in the future!

I'd like to thank TSP hosts, NPO hosts, TRR hosts and Forest for making this an event to remember!

Don’t forget to upvote the dispatch <3

P.S. Missed the festival or still want to visit the world of Middle Earth! Join one of the two RPs still running!

2. The Ball at Helms Deep(Roleplay)
Go here, to the roleplay channel, to partake -> https://discord.gg/VazC2h2
*King Elfwine of Rohan, of the House of Eorl, invites all peoples of Middle Earth to a ball celebrating his engagement with a princess from the East. The castle is bedecked in the rich colors of Rohan. Green and gold banners hang alongside silver and magenta ones around the castle walls. The entire city has been preparing for the royal ball for months. Thousands of pastries, endless fabric cut and sewn and resewn, lamps alight with colored glows, the city celebrates the fourth age of man in resolute splendor. *

*Guests line up in carriages, being secured before entering the castle and garden walls. Festivities take place all across the city. A wizard displays the central ballroom through a palantir like screen across the city gates. *

With your invitation to the ball and access to the Helms Deep, you have joined the ball for one or more reasons:

1) You enjoy balls and like to show off your finery, mingle with guests, and perhaps catch the eye of someone new or rekindle a flame <3

2) You are here for the heist. With Helms Deep open, you wish to relinquish King Elfwine of the fabled Sword of Herugrim and perhaps some of those jewels he's been hoarding.

3) You are here for a rescue. Three people of various races and backgrounds are in the castle dungeons. They have been sentence to death tomorrow morning. The orders will be carried out by the corrupt executioner swiftly and without remorse. Will you save your friend?

Please note GIFS coming up in this post!

The Seven Battles At Twilight
This weekend we engaged in festivities and frolicking and the Seven Battles at Twilight.

Festival guests chose to join the battle for Middle Earth as elves, ents, dwarves, humans, hobbits, or wizards.

Seven teams compete to determine who shall rule and with what kind of fist. We had so much fun playing trivia, Cards Against Humanity, Werewolf, and Escadian Battleship as well as engaging in general banter, casual roleplay and fun times.

The elves, dwarves and ents competed ferociously to gain the upper hand and were close in points throughout the battles but the elves managed to pull ahead just enough to leave only crumbs of lembas in their wake.

This event was amazing! The quest was almost definitely my favourite, especially because I could make my oracle suffer with me, and I'm going to be staying in the servers it took me to! I spoke to people in pretty much every regional server I needed to join for the quest, and I'm glad to have done so! :)
