Nope, was not involved in Brave Little Toaster. Believe it or not, I cared a lot about TSP, or at least what it used to be. I apologized for my role in the Hileville coup over a year ago in an attempt to make amends (link). I didn't really have anything to gain from that, but I hope TSPers know that I genuinely regret my actions. I don't see myself as being an entryist or a userite.

I suppose you don't see yourself as subversive or as an entryist either. To be completely honest, I just wanted to say "subversive entryist Feederite" given how often stupid rhetoric like that is used against me and people like me these days. Not that I don't think there's a nugget of truth in there.

But I'm done with the pointless circular arguments for now. Have a nice day.

Yes, and you were really able to explain the denial with much more detail than "Rach decided."

In my role, I have my powers delegated to me by the President. The President has final say on any applicants; when the President and other parties go back-and-forth between themselves and with me for a week deciding whether or not to approve the application of a foreign player - one who I don't even know that well - and decide to deny, I don't particularly care about prying for the reasons why. Plus knowing my strained relationship with Rach, I saw no reason to poke the proverbial bear by prying into it over a player who I barely knew and whose politics I barely knew. I am an NS hermit, after all. :p

( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) Regarding Lazarus ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

While Balder and The Land of Kings and Emperors continue desperately attempting to prop up the remnants of Lone Wolves United's occupation of Lazarus, a fact that they will likely attempt to sweep under the rug a couple months down the line, The South Pacific is happy to see the successful removal of invading forces from Lazarus. TSP, along with many others who clearly value the potential return of Lazarus to a stable and sovereign region rather than a raider trophy, will be backing Imki. We see her as an element that clearly stands against the previous Wolfist Regime, and hope that her end goal will be to assist in the rebuilding of Lazarus into a functional community populated by natives rather than by subversives, opportunists, and carpetbaggers. Either way, the removal of Wolfist subversion is a positive step forward, and we look forward to seeing how this situation develops moving forward.

I don’t think it’s fair to suggest Sopo wasn’t trying to contribute sincerely to TSP, the same goes for HEM - that’s not my memory of them during my time as a TSP cabinet minister. I was surprised at his stance during the coup, but I appreciated his honest apology.

My opinion on Europeia and their value as an ally changed as things progressed; during my time, I thought generally well of the Europeian diaspora in TSP and thought they were more moderate and culturally focused than TSP’s imperialist allies. I grew indifferent to the Europeia-TSP alliance as time went on, post-2015. Europeia suggested it was breaking off the alliance because TSP had changed me, but in my opinion, Europeia changed too - its independentism has radicalized after the Manifesto, while cultural cooperation has been displaced as a primary priority of Europeia foreign policy by geopolitical ambitions. It feels more r3n/Rachel/NES than Sopo/HEM/Lexus/CSP etc.

The South Pacific is a mermaid protection zone. The poaching, hunting, and otherwise capturing of mermaids who are our brethren of the sea is completely prohibited.

In other important news, mermaids are half human and half aquatic creatures. I'd like to repeat that they are not edible. Don't touch my tail either.

Preservation of Endangered Merfolk Legislation

Postby Escade » Tue May 01, 2018 3:18 pm

Image

There have been some concerning statements made about mermaids recently that reveals that some NS players think of mermaids as edible whether because of their mystical powers or other. I'd like to emphasize that mermaids are half human and half sea dragon and therefore ingesting mermaids is cannibalism for humans.

This image was taken of a "meal" ordered by a powerful and renowned TSPer dining at the Lampshade Bar and Grill:
Image

All across NS, mermaids and mermens are being targeted as a delicacy by some. I must protect my bretheren and sisteren.

It has become clear that there needs to be legislation to protect the endangered species of merfolk.

I ask your comments, discussion of and support of the following act. Legislation is slightly scary for me so any support of how to improve this bill is appreciated.

Preservation of Endangered MerfolkAct

Article 1.

1. Establishes that a merfolk (including mermaids and mermen) are any  entities which possesses all of the following attributes:
i) Human head, arms, and torso
ii) Fish (sea dragon) tail
iii) Sentience
iv) Gills

In addition, while these are not required they are often an added bonus:
iv) Ability to cause shipwrecks with their resplendent voices
v) An attitude that one may describe as "sugar and salt with a side of spice"

Article 2
2. Prohibits TSPers from taking the following actions against mermaids:
i) Hunting for sport or pleasure or any other reason
ii) Killing
iii) Trapping, capturing or otherwise fishing for
iv) Placing in fish tanks, cages, or bath tubs against their will
v) Eating or taste testing
vi) Breeding or attempting to breed
vii) Trying to trap them in human form by taking away their mystical pearl or special magical item
viii) Treating merfolk differently from other sentient creatures such as humans
viiii) Littering or otherwise harming the oceans, seas or water sources where mermaids live
x) Accusing mermaids of being at the root of any natural disasters such as shipwrecks, the Bermuda Triangle, or GP fires without clear and present evidence

Article 3
3. Developing understanding between humans and mermaids on a cultural level:
i) Seashells, seahorses and seastars are all very important to mermaid culture
ii) In fact if it has the word sea in it, its possibly important to mermaid culture
iii) The level of clothing is different from what you may be used to, do not refer to mermaids as hos
iv) Merman exist too, yes and not just as beards
v) Mermaid fever is a thing, take some Tylenol and try reading a book
vi) If you have a question about biology, ask a doctor or a professor or your mom
vii) The movie The Little Mermaid has spread some myths about mermaids
viii) Mermaids get Vitamin D deficiency so don't block their sunlight

Article 4
Addressing Violators and Violations
i) A court of law may assess a fine or other justice to any being violating the above
ii) A vampire mermaid may choose to turn a human who has violated the code of merfolk

In addition, there is a pollon the TSP RMB that explores the fates of the merfolk.

Finally, for those who are curious and inquisitive about mermaids, here is a source to see them some of their resplendence:

o/ Do vampire mermaids turn people into vampires or mermaids?

(This is bizarre. Last week I was thinking it would be worthwhile if Forest and TSP did a thing together to draw attention the state of fisheries in the actual South Pacific.)

That's a good question, my instinct is to say mermaids because they don't function like vampires so yes..mermaids :P

Also, hit us up in the TSP FA Discord or via DM and we can talk about the latter :)

Is it more acceptable if one only eats the fishy parts and leaves the rest be?

Also, where are the merpeople who have a fish head/torso and human legs? They surely exist, and are sorely lacking representation
