I always found a year in the Delegacy to be my upper limit. After that I just couldn't maintain interest. I think being a 'Delegate for life' sounds horrible.

True, but you also had a lot of power as Delegate. the power of the Balderian monarchy is more limited.

We celebrate Coalition Day on June 02 to commemorate the election of Goddessness, who is widely credited as establishing our first regional government. Before her we had Killer Monkeys, who established our first regional forum on 11 May 2003, so he should definitely get some credit, particularly since he said on May 16 that he intended to form a regional government:

Killer Monkeys wrote:Once this website becomes an integral part of our region, I will create a cabinet along with leadership positions, several regional agencies, and possibly a South Pacific congress.

Elections for a government were suspended due to the coup by The XYZ Affair on June 13, but by July 07 there was already a Charter, and by July 14 there was an elected government.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Statement on Recent Events in Europeia

The Treaty of Friendship between The South Pacific and Europeia (2012) is the oldest extant treaty between TSP and an ally. We want to state our support for the Europeian government in the face of recent difficult events. We also condemn the KoGB for their subversive efforts and despicable tactics. We have great respect for Europeia's long history and vibrant culture, and wish them all the best towards a swift resolution regarding this matter.

1.5 would have been my retirement (Rejectmas!) - I had a lot on my schedule I was still enthusiastic about doing. TRR had other plans. :p The schedule probably still exists somewhere in a dusty office subforum. I could have done two years but after that I really would have wanted to have let the region move on to bigger and better things.

"Delegate for life" does sound bad to me, I also don't think it's good for the regions involved in most cases.

I would like to thank The South Pacific for their support during these challenging times. This is the first time for years we have received such strong and positive diplomatic support, so it means a lot. It is, however, unfortunate that this statement has to be after I was elected on an electoral commitment to repeal our Treaty of Friendship. :(

I presume the TSP Ministry of Foreign Affairs must have somehow become aware of this electoral commitment, made by both the candidates who received over 90% of the votes for the Presidency, and that is the context for this sudden surge of compassion. However, despite this pleasant surprise, I must follow through on the commitments promised to my constituents.

We have a few older existent treaties, but we nonetheless reciprocate the great respect with regards to TSP's long history and vibrant culture.

It is Euro's prerogative as a region to move forward as they believe serves their best interests. Alliances, like any relationship, are a two way street, with both sides responsible for their existence. I don't believe in holding onto things that aren't meant for me. And healthy breakups allow for new relationships, ideas, perspectives, and activities in life ;)

The official statement was more about TSP being true to its commitments with extant allies such as in the recent case with Lazarus and also supporting democratic institutions against subversion which is what was happening in Euro. Once the alliance expires, which I have been informed is imminent, then we will be former allies. TSP will continue to have respect for democratic institutions and look down upon the subversion of democracy.

TSP towards allies = <3

TSP towards friends and potential allies (you know who you are ;) =

TSP towards haters = Put us on the "Do Not Call" list please OR

Finally, I just wanted to show my appreciation for TSPers in this thread. We are a lovely group of people with all sorts of interests and backgrounds and the fact is at the end of the day, that is what makes our community a home. Good people.
