There might be four Nations that were around NationStates region 17 years ago when I first became UN Delegate
Maybe two who understand how impossible it was to try to be independent between the Raider/Defender factions at the time.

I came to NationStates in my first year of sobriety
It was an awesome diversion from my previous life
In these 17 years I have grown immensely though sometimes the road was messy
NationStates has been a mirror of that path

Today I am at Peace with the world
The streak is over and another day has awoken

Thank you, Mike. I can say that over the last month I've grown in appreciation for you and NationStates as a region. Your contributions towards NationStates as a region are clearly unmatched, and your consistency and stability to the game are second to none over the last 17 years. Impressively, you've been on NS longer than I've been alive, and your leadership and peacekeeping fall nothing short of admirable. Keep up the good work and all else that you do around here.

A bit late, I'll admit, but an interesting development. I simply cannot wait for TITO to contradict their "values" they pursue so zealously in order to justify continued cooperation with TGW. It'd appear that the love of double standards within the defender faction is as prominent as it ever was. Not that that is any news; as much as they love to call everyone engaging in raiding bullies and what not, their principles are remarkably absent as soon as they see political advantage, as it has been over the years. One only needs to look at XKI's treaty with the East Pacific to see that their crusade against anyone who would engage in raiding only applies when convenient. As for TGW crashing a delegacy record... I wonder what their members' past reactions to such actions were when executed by raiders? When TBH did that, they didn't react in quite the same way. I suppose times change.

Congratulations to Lily, JTF and the NPA, in any case. Though when it comes to the NPA, one has to wonder why they decided to participate in a raid against their own embassy partner.

Proof that relying on DEN for your protection is a bad idea, and just ends up painting a bigger target on you. Maybe if Mikeswill had chosen to be friends with TGW this would have never happened.

I dare say NationStates wasn't relying on DEN at all for their protection. That'd be fairly pointless nowadays. Rather, I don't think NationStates expected to be raided by defenders, being a region that did not raid. It'd appear they were mistaken.

Congratulations to Mike on the longest delegate streak (and a record that will not be beaten anytime soon, I might add) nonetheless, and to Lily on gathering such an update force, credit where it is due. Congratulations also to Frenchy on organising this. As unusual as the operation and it's circumstances was, it was well-executed from the looks of it.

There's some strong anti-invader sentiment from the natives on NationStates' RMB; perhaps they could be persuaded to get involved in defending other regions against such attacks?

I must agree that openly invading a region is not the normal tactic I would use to try to convince a region to work with me. Especially not with a slogan like "endorsements make right" which could have come out of Francos Spain's mouth. To me this actually reads a lot like Lily persuading a bunch of defenders to hand invaders a propaganda victory, which I do have to applaud as a much more impressive feat than yet another bunch of tedious tag raids.

Lily organized a huge operation to bump off Mikeswill, mostly just to mine raider salt, but also as revenge for NewTexas, and here we have the reaction of "Oh, it was actually just to give raiders a propaganda victory!". Some of you on the defender side are not only unappreciative, but undeserving. Do you want Lily to be a raiding group? Do you want us to (very easily) overtake TBH in activity and make defending a total grind? Is that what you want?

We're not some impure group of traitors, sabotaging the defender propaganda effort. But keep calling us that, go ahead, and one day LILY might decide to dive into the relatively untapped defender salt mines.

(I really dislike when true independent orgs get trashed, if you can't tell.)

Our operation parameters are publicly stated, and this falls under them quite clearly. I really don’t appreciate these half-baked takes claiming we were manipulated into this as some sort of pro-LILY propaganda ploy, especially not from long-retired players blatantly lacking context and knowledge about our organization.

I’ll also say that Jo’s entire rant about TITO is similarly pretty ignorant of TITO as an organization, considering that they are the defender region which was for a long time credited as the one that would go the extra distance and take the fight to invaders and invader-sympathizing regions. The relationship on and off the battlefield between TITO and TGW is stronger than ever, and disingenuous pearl-clutching from the peanut gallery isn’t gonna affect that. Maybe LWU wouldn’t get shut out by Libcord + TITO constantly if they put as much effort into their operations as they do into their GP posts.
