Happy Thanksgiving, y'all.

I came back to the site in April and started raiding again in May after Sweeze pulled me back in after essentially being away from the site for over a year and a half. Raiding has honestly been quite a great time, and for a while I've just wanted to give a huge thank you back to NationStates for being such a nice pastime. So back on November 1st I figured it was about time to plan my huge celebration. I first contacted Sweeze, then 9003, Tim, and Jinkies. This early planning would give us all quite enough time to get our 14 day quarantines in so we could have a nice big dinner together. Along the way we invited a few others, Mcmannia, a crew from Hartfelden, Syberis, the United Empires of Carson Army, and NCE. Gathering together on Thanksgiving itself proved quite difficult, but Saturday night seemed like the best time. So I invited everyone from near and far for a set date of Saturday the 28th, with a plan to party all the way into the wee hours of Saturday the 29th. Towards the end of the night I had to call a toast, "to NationStates!" We decided that there's no better way to celebrate than with change, so we danced our way giddily into NationStates itself! What a surprise that we brought change with us as well, a new delegate arises on a new day. Congratulations to King Zhaoxiang of Qin for becoming the first delegate of NationStates since I was one year old. My party was quite the success.

There might be four Nations that were around NationStates region 17 years ago when I first became UN Delegate
Maybe two who understand how impossible it was to try to be independent between the Raider/Defender factions at the time.

I came to NationStates in my first year of sobriety
It was an awesome diversion from my previous life
In these 17 years I have grown immensely though sometimes the road was messy
NationStates has been a mirror of that path

Today I am at Peace with the world
The streak is over and another day has awoken

Thank you, Mike. I can say that over the last month I've grown in appreciation for you and NationStates as a region. Your contributions towards NationStates as a region are clearly unmatched, and your consistency and stability to the game are second to none over the last 17 years. Impressively, you've been on NS longer than I've been alive, and your leadership and peacekeeping fall nothing short of admirable. Keep up the good work and all else that you do around here.
