Tagging. The most annoying kind of raiding. I would prefer there was some sort of game mechanic where you had to be the delegate for at least three days before you can make any changes to the region, but c'est la vie....

Five years ago, Lily was setting records. It’s what we do. We were founded during a time where 50 hits was considered an exceedingly exceptional update - where our 88 was the best in the world. I can’t really say what Lily was like back then; I wasn’t there. I do know, though, that for us, it was a casual affair. That first record, a trailblazer for numerous more to come, was simply just another day. Two people, good company, and a bot.

Two years later, we were still setting records. At that time, 88 hits was no longer the single team record. The Black Hawks had hit a whole 98! The real record, though, had been pushed. Up to 143. At the time, this was astounding. Unheard of. We’d pushed past the 100 mark soundly, a feat so impressive it blew the sensible bits out of Badger’s brain. Still I was not yet in Lily, but nonetheless I know the laid-back, slightly tense, but altogether lighthearted nature of these raids - something reflected in their bare report. Three once-in-a-lifetime raids, for any other org. Just another night for Lily.

One year later, I entered. Trieltics were putting up incredible numbers (for the time), and Lily only beginning to revive. I broke a record on my second raid. Just another day. I broke a couple more records, too. So frequent and prolific were our hundred-tag raids that Trieltics - once the talk of the block - were relegated to a mere curiosity. Reports containing numbers big beyond comprehension became commonplace. Tag runs that would once have been met with great fanfare, now with only crickets.

That’s not to say all of our records were casual, though. We’re most proud of some of the ones that weren’t. From Supernova to Stargazer to Dragonslayer, we’ve put an incredible amount of effort into large raids. This report isn’t here to celebrate those types of records, though. It’s here to celebrate raids like those conducted on the majors of August 13th, 18th, and 21st.

These raids represented a new generation of Lily, a new generation of record breakers. The 13th - as casual as could be. Just another random run. I wasn’t even trying until, halfway in, I realized we were on record pace. We got 196 that night. A new 90 minute record. The 18th? A training run for Qekitor. We got 175. Once that would have been an amazing run. A record. Now?

On the 21st we broke that 196 record. We forgot to turn on retags. It was Qekitor’s second time pointing. We were running two teams, and one had defenders chasing. We got 256 hits on team 1. Two people, good company, and a bot.

That isn’t to say, of course, that any of these records were easy to get. Each record represents countless 2am nights spent tapping away at the keyboard. Hundreds of lines of code. Hours and hours of dedication. Each is the crystallization of skill, time, and vicinity to Vancouver. Each is an impressive step towards the boundaries of military gameplay. Each record a gargantuan task for any other org. But for Lily? Casual.

We’ve been breaking records for five years. What makes this one any different?

It's so easy to avoid tag raids and even easier to clean them up. Raiders leave the region when their done unless the region is special in some way.
