The Great Experiment

Since we have somehow gotten to 87 nations from the initial 8 Constitution signatories, I think it's time for The Great Experiment to get a Gameplay thread!

We're actually not very big in comparison to other similar regions - everybody knows one another. Newbies can quickly advance to official positions and run for elected offices. Heck, our current Delegate joined the region in early April. New ideas are openly received here - we're still figuring some things out, so this is the perfect place to establish yourself and take the reins of a rapidly-growing region.

The region is currently run jointly by the Founder (me) and the elected Delegate, who can give power out to officers at will with some restrictions. Power is limited by our Constitution, which is currently undergoing major changes. We're working toward establishing a formal legislature to pass regional laws, instead of the Founder and Delegate deciding what flies and what doesn't. We're also trying to limit the power of the unelected Founder, whose current role is to keep the Delegate in check.

To be fair, the Founder and Delegate can't just do anything—Constitutional amendments, which can change how everything works, require a 3/4 vote of WA nations on in the last four days.

Man, a lot's happened since I last posted in here.

Anybody's welcome to join our Discord server, just follow this invite and DM a moderator (anybody with a red name) your nation name to be allowed to speak. Don't break our rules and all will be good!

We're starting up a SUPER AWESOME war RP in a few days - go check out the details on the Discord server above, non-member nations will be allowed to participate to some degree.

The constitutional reforms are running very late, and may not be implemented at all due to sudden opposition.

That's about all, will update again in a week or two.

This region started getting involved in R/D, taking Warzone Asia and ousting former resident and long term delegate North Campbell Nation. It also beat back a TNP counter attack at major, not bad for a new region.

It's more that the NPA managed to fuck up their trigger so bad that their earlier troop moved 9 seconds after the region updated, with some troops moving as late as almost 30 seconds after the region updated. There's "beating back a counter attack" and then there's being lucky due to whatever the hell went wrong on the NPA's end. We were gonna intercept to take it for ourselves, before noticing it had updated way before

Update: The North Pacific swung for it again. Three of them missed. Wardens and Friends swung first. None of us missed.

No one have written anything here in a while. It's like The Great Experiment for the moment, inactive. I'm the current WA Delegate of The Great Experiment and this is my first Forum post.
However, I will write about what's going on in the region for the moment.
The region have kind of fallen, because durring the summer a number of nations that used to be active and inolved quit. This means it's even more boring for the still active nations. TGE consists of about 75 nations at the moment but only about five is active enough.
Therefore we need more active nations, to get back the activity. If someone that is not already member of TGE wants to find a new region where it's easy to get involved, you are very welcome to The Great Experiment. Because, together we can build our region and regain activity and new nations. In the end we might become one of the greatest regions in nationstates.
Also I myself is writing a new constitution which would make more democracy and wide-spread power instead of the WA Delegate taking care of everything together with the Founder. I hope the other nations in the region will like the constitution.
We are also closing some of the Discord channels, to get back conversation to our RMB. This hopefully make us more active on our ation accounts and on our region. Also we hope activity on the RMB gives better appearance for nations seeking for their next home region, which then could lead to more active and interested nations to our region.

I think it's time to dust off the old thread.

Anyway, The Great Experiment is back up and running! We somehow are approaching our old member count, though the active group of nations is almost completely different from our old group. The RP channels on the Discord are up and running again, and Pekares has been running some virtual soccer tournaments. That's what's new around here.

In sports news, today was the first day of matches in the 7th edition of the TGE Cup, our region's football/soccer tournament

Games are played with a bot written by Pekares which randomizes plays and outcomes and posts live updates for each game on our Discord server, even including halftime! The games are a lot quicker than real life though. Today United Provin drew Carrata, Peshwas drew Pekares, Far Tholk beat Uyanvzase 3-1, and Nightcrest beat Scalizagasti 3-1!

The election is over and Scalizagasti (myself) was elected President. The final vote tally was 8 votes for Scalizagasti (Democratic Alliance), 5 votes for Pekares (Anarcho-Monarchist Party), and 0 votes for Lacral (independent).

Thank you to Pekares and Lacral for their hard work and dedication during this campaign period! Over my term I hope to serve TGE well, including a greater focus on recruitment.

To prevent this thread from being locked again, I post this to keep it alive, hopefully.

TGE has been around now for over 6 years, during which it has gone through a lot I suppose.
Let us not get into the recorded history from the past, but let us put to record the recent history created during 2022.

We've not been doing much have we?
Mostly our Discord is used for normal every day discussion, as opposed to NationStates matters.
We've been doing some regional events like the TGE Cup and a recent TGEvision, so the community is still around.
There's still some activity in the roleplay, but it's been kinda little over the past year I'd say.
New nations joining the Discord has given it some renewed heart beat though.
The NS side of things is as dead as it has been for some time (years) now.
Enacting my new Fifth Constitution wouldn't improve any NS activity,
but in my opinion it would be more fitting for the current level of activity.

TGE is still cruising along essentially, and I for one like that.
