I hope this doesn't come off as rude but... how the fuck do you manage to juggle being founder of four regions?! Whatever your secret to success is... keep up the good work!

I do not always reply to things immediately (or at all, if I forget), but I really appreciate hearing this. It makes everything worth it, so thank you.

Kingdom of Narnia Opens Its Gates!

After over a month of planning, and preceded by weeks of hinting and buildup, the day has come. From the beginning, this announcement was kept strictly under wraps. Only a select few held knowledge of the plan, but today, the Augustin Alliance is proud to reveal its biggest project of the year: The Kingdom of Narnia!

The Approach

Narnia was originally founded sometime last year by Gibraltarica, who approached August in mid-April with a proposal. The region would be folded into the Alliance, which would develop the name into a thriving community, and in return, Gibraltarica would handle recruitment. The terms were accepted, and once real-life schedules allowed, the construction commenced. The timeline was set for a month, with the launch at the very end of May. With this announcement, that moment has come right on time.

The Setup

Instead of being ruled by a stable, constant monarchy, the Kingdom of Narnia is in a permanent state of flux, with control passing back and forth between different factions. Residents can choose to side with the noble Pevensie monarchs, the evil White Witch, the Caspian dynasty, or others. The outcome of battles, negotiations, trickery, and alliances can determine who reigns over the Kingdom of Narnia. Residents can rise up to become the leader of their faction (such as the Witch herself, or a Pevensie king or queen). At that point, they can set the rules, and try to banish opposition from the region while their subjects rally behind them. Aslan, the creator of Narnia, watches over all, and intercedes when the world falls out of balance.

The Future

As with all Alliance regions, Narnia will be able to stand fully independent from her siblings. A massive recruiting program is imminent, and with the structure already in place, the region will hit the ground running. We now invite any lovers of fantasy, magic, and the Chronicles of Narnia to join us, where you will find a home among welcoming, like-minded nations. Step through the wardrobe, traveler, and leave reality at the door!

It's great to see Narnia being used for something, and let me tell you: August is great at creating regions. I'm glad he agreed to do this, and it means a lot to me to see my favorite book series being made into a region.

It's clear that Gameplay activity has been revved up again with the creation and growth of this alliance, a serious contender for interregional conflict against others.

Only time will tell what adversaries may develop and come forth, though the adversary that does will probably launch NS into a major conflict with this organization.

The adversary would most likely need to be similar to AA in population/size or organization, and unlike previous drawn-out NS conflicts, it is quite likely that an interregional federation, much like AA, would face it, and whomever won at the end would take over NationStates utterly and completely.

I may sound like a doomsayer, however, AA's biggest difference is that it is a federation of several regions. This has never been seen before, as other (successful) interregional alliances have always been relatively decentralized and made of regions who weren't all controlled by the same founder. This alliance is, and furthermore, though regions can grow and die, a collection of them don't, especially if actively maintained by the founder or his/her close partners; the regions within the alliance may fluctuate in population, but the alliance could always stay strong.

Conch Kingdom Courts Opened

Thanks to the tireless work of then-Minister of Domestic Affairs Tulov and several others, Conch Kingdom's long-awaited judicial system was finally completed this week. This system, known in practice as the Conch Kingdom Courts, was intended to provide residents with an unbiased interpretation of their region's old and complex Governing Document. Its justices are appointed residents who have demonstrated a thorough knowledge of the laws, which they apply in their decisions on criminal and civil cases, to rule member states guilty or not guilty.



A constitutional amendment outlining the system was put to a vote on the 26th of March, and subsequently passed with a vote of 13 to 1. The actual implementation of the amendment was a slow process, as officials deliberated for two months to choose the best candidates for the bench. Ultimately, the Chief Justice was appointed by Tulov, who had since been elected the Prime Minister, and conferred by Monarch Conch Kingdom on the 24th of April. The next justice to be appointed was New Jaedonstan, who was conferred by Minister of Domestic Affairs Arudis and Minister of Foreign Affairs Balan Bar on the 5th of May. The last seat will be filled by the People’s Justice, who is to be elected by the member states of Conch Kingdom. On the 13th of June elections have concluded and Gazohi Bideq, who ran unopposed, won his election to the bench.

The amendment also provides for an Appeals Court, which will hear all motion of appeal from those who feel they have not been given a fair trial, and wish to have their verdict overturned. The three Appellate Justices will be appointed by the Prime Minister and approved by the Monarch. As no appeal cases are pending, all seats are still vacant at this time.

3. The region was thrown into total anarchy for several days. The government was overthrown, the yellow flag was burned, and the red and black was raised in its place. Residents fled and stocks tumbled, but the Board of Directors managed to wrest back control before the damage became too severe.
4. Bylaw Procedure completed, after weeks of collaboration from the entire Board.

Narnia:
1. After two months of halted development due to a certain founder getting a new job and having little time for NS, the region is emerging from hibernation and beginning to grow!
2. Residents can now apply for spaces on the map, created by August/The Great Lion.
3. The placement test created by Professor Digory Kirke (with input from The Great Lion) is complete. Residents are invited to take the test to see which faction they align with. This is a huge part of the region's unique system!
4. The Government dispatch has been filled out, and now describes how the region works in-character.
5. New records for size (39) and delegate endorsements (9).
