Featured Warden July 2022 - Vis

Visionary Union, better known as Vis to all around him, joined us in early 2021 after Nakari lured him out to the TGW server to play Dragon Age with others. Already established in The Rejected Realms (TRR) before this, Vis has remained a constant social presence in our offsite platforms since then, guiding new players in getting acclimated with NationStates, lending aid in major operations and tormenting his regionmates as much as he can, whether it be on Discord or on the fields of Krunker. Feeling particularly sadistic this month, First Warden Grea Kriopia sent Constable Moon to interview this steadfast Warden after his recent promotion to TGW’s Chief Medical Officer, a role he has been abusing to force Moon to sleep early.

Lieutenant Varax Ascends

As First Warden, I'm happily announcing the immediate promotion of Varax to Warden-Lieutenant

Having joined the Wardens and reentered military gameplay in May, Varax has made herself an asset in the months she has spent in The Order with her previous military experience and assistance with The Order's internal affairs. Varax has not only thrown herself into being one of TGW's most consistent chasers of late and provided a steady hand during updates but has also been one of our top recruiters and an all-around helping hand whenever needed. This is arguably one of our more faster promotions but it's well deserved given Varax's extensive talent in military gameplay and her clear commitment to contributing to The Order. I'm far from the first to say her presence in TGW has been highly appreciated and undoubtedly will continue to be as Varax steps into her Lieutenants position.

Varax's promotion also marks one of many in recent months for the up-and-coming Wardens who have grown into leadership positions and filled the necessary spots in our structure that have come from our ever-expanding list of projects. It's a challenge for any region to ensure leadership opportunities stay accessible and fresh for its newer members, so I'm personally incredibly pleased to see how well we've continued to grow Warden Command alongside growing frontiers, FA, new defense records, and all of the other things you see us busy with. People like Varax and all our other fantastic Wardens help make that possible and it's only going to get better from here

In exciting particle physics news: a new particle, the defenduon!

This is the first observation of antimatter, which is a very cool scientific discovery. But it isn't as cool as Wardens are.

For a long time, a question has hung over NationStates particle physics. In theory, when enough raiduon particles are directed towards a neutral region particle, they should react together and produce a tagged region. But this is not always the case. Occasionally raiduons miss their target, that’s true, but this cannot be the only explanation; the rates of failure are too high. And sometimes, after a raiduon has interacted with a region, the tag will mysteriously disappear, leaving no trace but the native state.

But through careful analysis of activity pages at times of high-energy particle collisions, we think we have discovered the answer: the defenduon.

The defenduon is a kind of antimatter that interacts with the raiduon particle, swiftly pursuing it towards its target region particle. Upon interacting within a region, both particles annihilate quickly resign. The defenduon leaves little trace on the regions it touches, apart from restoring the region particle to its native charge and appearance. Occasionally, you might find the remnant of one in an RO slot, but these particles are inevitably attached to raiduon-tagged regions, and over time will annihilate and destroy the raider tag. Defenduon particles may be difficult to spot on a region page itself, but analysing activity pages reveals massive influxes of defenduons into regions and frequent defenduon activity even when no raiduon particles are present.

Our data is presented below, summarizing activity in the last six sessions of high-energy particle collision. In total, we observed 67 defences and 203 detags.

In future, we aim to study more questions which may illuminate the deepest mysteries of NationStates particle physics. Where do defenduons come from? How are they so fast? Why are there so many on Feux’s ingrown toenail?

Promotion of Warden-Constable Nakari to Warden-Commander.

Though all before me is shadow, yet shall the Maker be my guide

This is one of several promotions we've made in the last few months which have exhausted my compliments supply but invigorated Warden Command on all levels. The promotions are a well-earned necessity for the list of projects and goals that spin out in our work areas to support the three (four???) regions that now make up The Order, so there are worse problems. But it's also insane to reflect on how maintaining such a large Command staff has become a necessity in how much we've grown and how many amazing people we've picked up in the last half year alone. It's rewarding and exciting and undoubtedly part of our continued success. The darkspawn have grown quieter, battle lines are redrawn, and visions of the future grow.

It is also a rare thing to write a promotion post for someone twice but something I'm glad I get to do, especially for a previous Commander. I don't think this person needs an introduction, though, having marked her name across many areas of defender for several years now. After resigning as a Warden Commander in 2018, she did a lot (to put it mildly) including some time as The South Pacific's Prime Minister and Delegate of The Rejected Realms. She remains a beloved member of the defender sphere, a highly talented officer, and a celebrity who tells people to gtfts. But at the end of the day, the reasons for her first promotion hold true as someone who is a driven leader and community landmark in TGW.

I'm happy to announce the return ascension of Nakari to Warden Commander

A returning Commander is nothing but a fantastic feeling to bring back someone who knows the ins and outs of The Order and is fricken talented to get promoted twice. Nakari's energy brought to The Order's internal development, training guidance, and update attendance made her reascension unquestionable to our now bustling Commanders circle and I can't wait to work with her further on everything left to accomplish over the next period for TGW. Congrats Nak!
