A risk free investment with unlimited potential return is prudent by definition thank you very much.

September's Collective report

Postby Kingdom of Circle of Magi » Thu Oct 01, 2020 12:55 pm

The Wardens enjoying their rewards on the harbor of Amaranthine.

The wardens took in the smell that most people would describe as the smell of wet dogs, but for our group, that stench that was carried by the autumn winds smelled like freedom. The wardens had decided to spend the free time they got from fighting darkspawn in the markets of Amaranthine, spending their hard-earned money on trinkets and treats.
"THIEF!" A dwarven shop-keeper yelled, pointing his finger at a black-hooded man who was running away.
"Nakari," Merlin said and gave her a nudge.
"Gladly," Nakari answered, drawing out a serrated blade from her leather belt and throwing it to the shoulder of the escaping thief, dropping him to the ground and making him yell from pain.
"Why did you do that?" Screamed the thief. "I am just a petty thief, you b-!" Then, just before he could finish his sentence, Haku twisted the knife slightly with his foot.
"That's not a way to talk to a Grey Warden!" Haku shouted, taking his foot off the knife as the city guard appeared.
"How should I've known you're wardens? Nobody of you is wearing their mark!" The thief grunted as the city guard took him into custody.
"Us Fereldian wardens aren't known for our good supply lines," Merlin said as the guards escorted the thief away. "Anyway, I enjoy my red robes better than those they give us for free."
"The Stone bless you, wardens!" The dwarf thanked.
"The foods that I sell are experimental, and that bastard almost stole my whole month's income! Please, let me repay my favor by giving you some ice creams that I've made!"
"Ice cream?" Matthew asked. "Isn't that an Orlesian royal delicacy? "How did a dwarf get their hands on such things recipe?"
"Doesn't take a Shaperate to guess that it has something to deal with cream and ice," the dwarf said while escorting the wardens to his market stall.
When the group arrived at the dwarf's stall, the dwarf pulled out an iron box and opened it, making the air around the box visible. The dwarf then pulled out multiple different forms of ice cream from it and handed them to the wardens, who then went to enjoy their icy treats at the harbor.

I'm tired of exclamations attempting to allege scandal every time The Order of The Grey Wardens goes and shows, within our stated operation parameters, how much we're better than raiders at their own job.

It is the goal of this order to efficiently defeat as many invaders as possible, and as frequently, as needed. We are not the white knights who clamor for the approval of our peers. We embrace the darkness and shall follow our enemy wherever they attempt to spread the blight so as to extinguish them.

That? That's from our thread OP, and is also broadcasted across both our off-site and on-site communications. It means that we like to give raiders a taste of their own medicine, and Mike's was long overdue.

Our intentions to unseat Mikeswill have been a public stance for over a year, and individuals who are choosing to clutch pearls about that are either woefully ignorant of how TGW operates, or are simply being disingenuous in a poorly-executed attempt at spinning the PR narrative. The Delegacy of Nationstates has only lasted as long as it has due to the majority of the raider faction consistently paying lip service to Mikeswill, on account of them being vaguely aligned with the original DEN back in the early 2000s (as well as friendly with other raider organizations in the years since). Mikewill has consistently used a non-WA puppet nation to move into invader occupations, congratulating them on the RMB for their actions. We do not believe that this is an individual whose character was befitting of maintaining the title of Longest Serving WA Delegate, and we are confident in our decision to have participated in the termination of their streak.

We really appreciate the opportunity to have been able to be involved in the planning and execution of this operation. Big thanks to LILY, JTF, NPA, UECA, HRF, Syberis, and The Owl Coven for their presence on this legendary update. Additionally shout-out to LILY (and ESPECIALLY Frenchy) for enabling all of us to come together and achieve this literally unbeatable accomplishment. While we're proud to have brought the most updaters to the operation, every single person we had mattered, and this was very much a team effort. This accomplishment is unlikely to ever be topped, as the next time a streak this long could be broken will be in 8+ years, and that is if the present longest termed WA Delegates remain in their seats for that whole time. I think it's safe to say that all of us who participated have put ourselves in the history books, and that it's unlikely that anybody else will be able to take down a streak of that length ever again. Great work everyone.

This operation does not change or detract anything from The Order's primary purpose, which remains centered around preventing the Darkspawn from spreading The Blight across regions of the world. In the last couple of weeks, we have worked with our allies to continue reinforcing that mission across a plethora of regions. When Christmas was invaded, it was successfully liberated by 50+ defenders only 12 hours later. When LWU attempted a semi-stealthy occupation attempt, we shut out every single one of their jumps. Additionally, when 20+ raiders showed up this past Wednesday totally unexpected, our faction showed up with a stack of 30+ defenders to send the raiders home without a shred of success. Additionally, along with our Libcord comrades, we have been consistently dismantling tag raid efforts during major update, and cleaning up raider (and LILY) graffiti at minor update. Turnout numbers, wins, morale, and overall skill levels continue to climb in a manner that makes us confident that we will only see more success moving forward. We hope that more regions and individuals want to continue working alongside us to get a piece of this damn fucking tasty Success Pie.

One last note - there's a good number of people specifically congratulating everybody but The Wardens. That's fine. Just don't forget that there's a reason that we were invited and you weren't - we're simply better.

He still maintains that title since nobody broke that record :p

When LWU attempted a semi-stealthy occupation attempt, we shut out every single one of their jumps.

I do hope you’re not referring to the training operation with dirty puppets and no attempt at stealth made whatsoever that occurred a few weeks ago. I know defender spotting is in a poor state, but calling “we saw dirty puppets stage and jump” a “semi-stealth operation” indicates a lack of knowledge about spotting.

Additionally, when 20+ raiders showed up this past Wednesday totally unexpected,

Lol.

our faction showed up with a stack of 30+ defenders to send the raiders home without a shred of success.

My impression from Tim’s post is that this was an attack on Mikeswill’s delegate streak, not any actual threat on the region NationStates. It’s utterly ridiculous to conflate invasion with Delegate tipping.

I’m not a Warden anymore so I don’t speak for anyone here. But Tim’s post does not actually sound like a threat towards NationStates.

The Grey Wardens are the ones who have conflated Delegate tipping with invasion, as articulated by their former First Warden. It's long been recognized as a form of invasion by defenders and raiders alike; I've yet to see either a defender or raider organization try to argue that Delegate tipping isn't invasion, and in cases other than this one defenders have seemed quite irritated about it. Here's another example from that same thread of a defender taking Delegate tipping mighty seriously. This doesn't get to magically become not a form of invasion and no big deal when the Grey Wardens do it.

Overall, though, I'd concur with you that the standards of your former organization are ridiculous, but nonetheless, people should be held to their own standards -- wouldn't you agree? And this is a standard that is pretty much uniformly recognized by gameplayers. Delegate tipping is invasion.

So I'll wait for Tim to answer my question when he gets around to it. :p

No, don't worry. I'm well aware that LWU was invited, accepted the invitation, and then pulled out and leaked the operation. Your Founder's incoherent attempt at defending LWU in the #milgp channel of GP server was extra amusing.

Note to self: variance is part of the defender faction these days.

I know it's a really crazy concept for you to imagine apparently, but Roavin and I aren't part of some hivemind where we agree on every single ideological stance. As for your question, I imagine you would have found the answer to it had you actually read my statement rather than cherry-picking miniscule portions of it. I don't feel the need to re-state my points yet again, just so you and the rest of the pearl-clutching peanut gallery can once again cherry-pick what you want to respond to.
