Clarification: I would like to learn to either raid or defend. I need to be treated like a freshly minted player with zero knowledge, because I have zero knowledge of modern R/D. Please?

You would have to join one of the current active R/D orgs for that.

In regards to mechanics having gutted the R/D game: Half true. The World Activity Feat makes it easy to track stealth raids, generally, there is a hard cap of one ejection per second (completely negating regional officers, but also makes it nearly impossible to fight off liberation attempts when you're outnumbered by far and defenders move in a window of 5-6 seconds), so the only realistic options left are:
1. Piling to death (boring and uncompetitive)
2. Tagging (good practice, but gets old to do, to me at least)
That's my opinion on the raider side of things, at least. While those things don't gut the game per se, it relies far more on numbers to pull off occupations and tags gets boring fast (to me, at least).

That could be just me, though.

I'd be glad to train anyone that is interested in R/D. Are you available this minor update (12 noon EST)? I think I may be available for major as well (12 midnight EST).

This is Benevolent Thomas, btw, in case anyone was wondering.

Tbf defenders have always moved in sub 10 second windows, it just took most raiders about a decade to catch up with game mechanics.

The general obsession with quantity over quality is the main issue in my eyes, raiders don't ever attempt anything meaningful or creative and everyone loses the added interest of fighting over regions with actual natives and communities, noone bothers holding or rallying to defend any invaded region for the same reason and people less don't really care if they win or lose in the same old three nation regions that they fought over the week before. Plus raiding just seems kinda dead atm in general (still waiting for any sign RaiderCon actually happened, I feel conned).

Excited for r/darkesia though!

I do have to agree with you. With the popularisation of tagging, more effort seems to be put into tagging and chasing then raiding significant regions, or defending those. Quantitiy of tags seems to hold more weight then how significant a region was when it was raided, sadly.

Could be just me tho :P

Unlike Metallica, TGW keeps publishing total head-bangers one after another (with, of course, some occasional dips in quality whenever I, Sir Merlin, publish anything to our GP thread). Just our luck, the charts indicate that we're not gonna plateau anytime soon, so we scored three new recruits that have been actively attending updates. We're shooting for the top! We've accomplished a ton since our last report, but for the sake of breavity, I'm only including The Grey Warden's latest hits from Minor 2019-10-12 to Major of 2019-10-12/2019-10-13. My divine inspiration is usually dedicated to detags, not dissertations.

The Call of the Wintermoon summond the Wardens to cleanse nu-metal from heretical clubs, and so they did, lead by the Immortal Merlin, who was awaken from his thousand-year slumber just 7 hours earlier. Videography and production was planned out by Haku, Merlin's newest convert. The Wardens were merciless in their crusade, and most clubs were cleansed by nightfall.

Merlin had only just risen, only to see that he missed all the snoot booping. A tragic loss, by
And so another Major came, and the Wardens found that there were snoots to be booped at Nasunia. They summoned snoot boopers from around the world, and Hartfielden, Lily, TITO and Ballpit answered the call to capitalize on their shares of love and affection. Musical Metallurgist Merlin wasn't present for this operation because he was too busy sleeping; for he is a wizard, and a wizard arrives precisely when he means to! With his spirit in mind, his beloved Metal Wardens also defended Soviet Union from the darkness within.

Yes, I am sure Fedele, or anyone from LWU won't see this post, and thus see the inevitable surprise attack coming.

The GCRs can trample each other's sovereignty as usual. And as is also usual, we'll sit back and continue defending.

The Grey Wardens | Just Anime Things

Postby Haku » Sun Oct 20, 2019 3:56 pm

Hello everyone! This will be a regular update report from the most active military organization, detailing our recent activities.

Image

A frustrated Warden angrily eating a TBH tag

The Grey Wardens are widely known for our affinity of eating and our desire to constantly be fed. Seeing as the mainstream raiders have been pretty inactive lately, we have been unfortunate enough to be forced to detags for the majority of our updates. You will see me complaining about it constantly throughout this update report. We decided to start off the week of updates with 10 detags. Very fun stuff.

Minor 2019-10-13

Participating Wardens

First Warden Haku
Warden-Commander Kingdom of Circle of Magi
Warden-Lieutenant Roavin
Sort of a Warden Benevolent Thomas

Regions Detagged

Archipelago Of Elysium
Before 2200
Senate Of The Nwa
The Mystical Land Of Proctethian Puppets
Democratic Region Of America
The Lbp Union
Semi Graviotia 2
Silvetta
Devious Tyrant
Exercise Ball

Image

Only one thing to do for 2 updates in a row? So boring!

^ That's the exact reaction we had when we did only 1 mission for 2 updates in a row! Still more active than raiders are, though.

On the second update of our activity in the past week, some new raiders so unforgettable that I can't even remember tried to raid a region, and that's all I'm going to say on that because it's not worth mentioning any further.

Major 2019-10-14

Participating Wardens

First Warden Haku
Chamberlain Vincent Drake
Warden New Oster Reich
Sort of a Warden Benevolent Thomas

Participating Allies

Nakarisaune from The South Pacific Special Forces
The United Vex Imperium from Hartfelden
Twobagger from The Ten Thousand Islands Treaty Organization

Regions Defended

Lotions Second Puppet Storage

But on the next update, we did something extremely fascinating! We detagged 1 region, because as we all know, detagging is the most important part of training.

Minor 2019-10-15

Participating Wardens

First Warden Haku
Warden-Recruit Aterniand

Regions Detagged

Lazarus Mint

Image

Yet another TGW reaction to constantly being forced to detags.

Finally, something different! Well...not yet. On the minor update of the 16th, we did even more detags.

Minor 2019-10-16

Participating Wardens

Warden-Commander Kingdom of Circle of Magi
Warden-Recruit Aterniand
Sort of a Warden Benevolent Thomas

Participating Allies

Eolusia from The Rejected Realms Army

Regions Detagged

European Confederated States
Royal Alliance Of Socialist Monarchies

But wait! On the minor update of the 17th, we liberated a region from "anti-Lily" retaggers and some anti WA (ironic) raiders.

Also, we did even more detags. sighs

Minor 2019-10-17

Participating Wardens

First Warden Haku
Warden-Commander Kingdom of Circle of Magi
Warden-Recruit Aterniand
Sort of a Warden Benevolent Thomas

Participating Allies

The United Vex Imperium from Hartfelden
IzOn

Regions Liberated

Non Conformists Unite
The Communist Assembly

Regions Detagged

Raxus Puppet Storage
Opulentia
Votrus

Image

TGW reaction to the events of the following 2 updates

Finally, something other than detags! So, you remember that "raiding organization", The Invaders? Yeahhhh...this is about them. Apparently, they had some random new people volunteer to raid on behalf of TI, likely unbeknownst to TI's high command (whoever that is). Basically, we crushed their tiny raid. Credits to these two new players for actually doing something unlike the rest of TI, though, I guess.

Major 2019-10-18

Participating Wardens

First Warden Haku
Chamberlain Vincent Drake
Warden-Commander Tim
Warden New Oster Reich

Participating Allies

Nakarisaune from The South Pacific Special Forces
The United Vex Imperium from Hartfelden

Regions Liberated

A Land Resplendent With Dank Spicy Memes

Following this update, we saw a tagging attempt, if you can even call it that. The raiders were using already updated nations and overall just having an overall bad time even without our intervention, but managed to get a hit in while we were bored of the long target intervals. Still managed to get in a drive-by, though!

Major 2019-10-20

Participating Wardens

First Warden Haku

Participating Allies

twobagger from The Ten Thousand Islands Treaty Organization

Regions Driven By (lol)

The League

Next, we were lucky enough to get yet another update filled with mostly detags! Yay! We were definitely starting to miss doing them all the time. But we also had a liberation to do to clean up some of the raiders from the previous update, so unfortunately, it wasn't all detags.

Minor 2019-10-20

Participating Wardens

First Warden Haku
Warden-Commander Kingdom of Circle of Magi
Warden Indo-Malaysia

Participating Allies

Frattastan IV from The Rejected Realms Army
tupelope

Regions Liberated

Yeet Bois

Regions Detagged

Lowlands
The Doge Union
New Socialist Bloc

Image

Ja ne! See you next time!

To sum it up, we continue to be the most active military region. In the past week, we had at least one successful mission for 57% of the updates in the week (8/14), and we intend to continue this trend.

Yeah, I guess it is really unfortunate that TBH requires 6+ people on one team just to pick up some wins. :P

If you have that many people seemingly at random PLEASE prep an extra tag list some nights just in case. Having a fast group and a slow group or something similar is better than having one group of 8 that jumps once every other minute. It's like how when we've had enough people on while chasing lily, we split into two groups (one consistent, one not-as-much) that alternate jumps for better efficiency. If there's only three or four on to defend against that, it'd require some actual skill to combat it, instead of just getting in before the better half the tag group and losing to a 10s trigger.

Please do, I'd be ecstatic to chase TBH running two groups at once :) :) :) I've needed a real chase that isn't just confused wardens getting swamped by Lily.
