Featured Warden December 2023 - Igualla

This month's Featured Warden and our final Featured Warden for 2023 is Igualla who is one of the Orders' Senior Wardens. Ever since joining TGW in January, he's worked hard both at being a busy presence at update and improving the region's domestic affairs. Primarily, Igualla runs the WA Discussions that keep Wardens engaged with the WA. Since joining, he's fully become a part of the TGW atmosphere and one of our highly active Wardens. Ostrovskiy sits down with Igualla for a quick chat today.

The Ballad of Wardens and Football-playing Wolves

The Wardens surrounded the building. While it may have looked like an innocent football stadium, they knew that it was filled with (lone) wolves (united), kicking out natives fans from the stadium. They had people inside the stadium, people equivalent to the amount that the wolves had, but last update they had won the match with home team advantage. Not this time. As a dozen Wardens and their allies rushed into the stadium, the wolves simply had no chance against such an overwhelming force. The endorsements had spoken, and LWU FC was shut down for tax evasion.

Oh, and, along the way, a few minor regions stadiums were stopped from getting overrun too.

Warden Report 2024-02-09 - No biggie, just some liberations


An Update Commander preparing to lead their forces into battle... again...

Right. So you're probably wondering how we got here.

Two nights ago, our scouts spotted two pillars of smoke on the horizon - one from a small collection of nations turned into a wolf's den, and the other from a tavern town off the coast taken hostage by pirates. No biggie, just a routine night. We gathered our forces and prepared to march at sunset.

Sunset came, and our commanders realized Darkspawn forces had managed to outdo themselves this time, pulling together double-digit forces for once. No biggie, just a routine liberation. Except we our numbers seemed awfully low for our usual count, leaving us to lose in a last minute scramble by... one or two endorsements. All good, we'll get them next time.

With our newly reinvigorated force, we marched on to free a region from the hold of the pirate crew. With confidence and vigour, I called the go and we strode into the region guns blazing... way too early, our liberating crew being brought down low by TWPAF and TSR cannons that shredded our count and leaving us to lose ina tie. Right, well, that sucks. No big deal, I whiffed it, we keep going.

We rose once more at dawn to go knock-knock-knocking on a Darkspawn hold that had grown in size. We lost once more. No big deal, really, it's all fine. Right after that, we went and knocked out the swashbuckling buccaneers with a quick hit, in and out, just like that, leaving them to flee to the wolves and their hideout. No worries, we'll get them at major.

Come major, the scallywags and wolves had brewed up quite the commotion over in HC Republic, drawing the ire of one panicked Warden-Commander -

and a bit of panic from me, after having been out of commission for ten hours, with a subsequent mass last-minute mass whipping of soldiers to support the ones that had formed the beachhead at minor occurring. Should be easy, just half an hour of prep time, in and out and we’re done, no biggie.

Yeah, we lost.

HOWEVER, BEING THE OUTSTANDING DEFENDERS WE ARE, WE DO NOT KNOW HOW TO GIVE UP OR ADMIT DEFEAT. SO WE RODE ONCE MORE AT MINOR, INTO A YET LARGER PILE, OUR INDIGNANT AND NOT AT ALL SHAMED HEADS HIGH AGAINST THE DARKSPAWN.

Allies showed from every corner of defending – the beaches of the South Pacific, the archipelagos of the Europeia, the small banks of the Region That Has No Big Banks, the lands of the League and Concord, of the North Pacific, of the Rejected Realms – united to bring home the victory.

MVP Sulenia helped nab us the native for an FPM, and in a last minute effort to even the odds, we quickly shortened the trigger to minimize the bans that had been wreaking havoc on our forces for the past few updates, with only a slight bit of panic involved in our decisionmaking -

In a heartstopping three seconds, our forces seized the region and freed it from raider forces. No biggie, no sweat, it was absolutely fine.

Wardens are no strangers to defeat. We are no strangers to setbacks, to loss, or to sacrifice. Mistakes happen. Lessons are learned. Challenges rear their heads, and we surmount them. The Darkspawn may rise to claim whatever victories the light allows them, but in time, the Grey vanquishes all. Thank you to the incredible liberators who showed up four updates in a row because of my shoddy leadership, and carried us forward to final victory. Hard losses suck, but few true victories are gained without the bittersweet taste of horrid defeat. Taunt us, scoff at us – we will rise to challenge you all the same.

No it was never actually converted, just was promised to become one. TGW has promised the world they would hold two frontiers simultaneously to funnel more and more nations in to their region. It looks like now they will have none

I have to say, this is a rather interesting side effect of the attack on Europe, not even from a "tgw won't be getting spawns anymore" perspective, but also from the perspective of what it implies. What this essentially is is an admission of defenderdoms current inability to protect native communities, after all, how is anyone expected to believe that defenders can protect them when defenders have just taken an action that shows they do not even believe they can protect themselves.

Just some food for thought for any natives reading who think they're at all protected by anything other than raider unity, signing a treaty, or making their delegate nonexec. You aren't, those tasked with that protection can no longer even defend their own.
