The eternal struggle of The Grey Wardens and their allies against the menace of the Darkspawn

28th Day of Ferventis

There is something enchanting about battling darkspawns that struck out to me ever since I joined the Wardens. Perhaps it was the satisfaction of preventing innocent villages from falling prey into the Blight's hands. Perhaps it was the pleasure that came from taking those pesky Darkspawn head-on and defeating them, knowing that you just won against an otherworldly being that has often been portrayed as "undefeatable". Or perhaps it was simply the thrill of the battle itself, the adrenaline rushing through your veins when you pursue the scattering Darkspawn hoping to spread their Blight to as many villages as they could, the joy of being so fast that you feel like you could take on the world. Regardless of what the reason might be, I've grown fond of battling the Darkspawn and the opportunity it gives me for making myself useful to a good cause, regardless of what others might think of.

And tonight provided another chance, as pure Darkspawn of the black hawk variety were sighted venturing on from the deep mines of Orozammar to spread the Blight again, for the first time in weeks. We quickly gathered our equipment and set out for the reported area of sighting, our seven Wardens joined by local warriors from the Liberation Accord. Our numbers stood at over fourteen brave warriors by the time we started following the Darkspawn's distinct trail, emboldened further by the addition of famed warriors from TITO to our outfit. While the weather was unpleasant and the our equipment less-than-adequately-prepared, we still pressed on, knowing that it hinged on us to remain vigilant and defend against the Darkspawn in their malicious bid to ensue chaos upon the world.

We soon came into contact with our foe, measly in numbers, but alarmingly competent in terms of skill. Upon sensing our presence, they scattered, hoping to catch us off-guard and hit some villages along the way. They were quick, but we were ultimately quicker. We pursued them into each and every village they went and struck them down at every opportunity we could find, not giving them a chance to spread their rot around. We outnumbered and outclassed them beyond resistance time and time again and soon the skirmish was over, their Alpha Emissary deeming it wise to withdraw back to their holes after thirty minutes had passed by.

After ensuring that all villages were safe from any further incursions attempted by the Darkspawn, we returned to camp contentedly, knowing that we had succeeded in our goal tonight. While our work wasn't over yet, it was nearing its end. The age where innocent communities were terrorized by these otherworldly beasts was almost over and soon peace and tranquility would descend upon Thedas, as the Maker had originally intended. But until then, we will continue pushing on and seeking out our foe, we will continue defending against the Darkspawn that wishes to run amok and we will continue to carry on this great burden of ours, until we ensure the full eradication of these invaders.

"Winning, yeah, we sure do a lot of that. Too many details to explain, but The black hawks tried to do some tagging with Lily and it didn't go so well. The libcord crew did some chasing and got 33 defences (defences with a c, because Canadian), TBH got 5 hits, and an irrelevant amount of misses. Technically an irrelevant amount of hits too, but you know how it goes."

The Cult grows. The Enemy weakens. The End is near.

So the Darkspawn have declared that they have a "comeback" happening. It's certainly a claim, that is for sure. I wouldn't believe it much, but you have to give them credit for dreaming big eh? The only thing that's happening is we have to come back online to break them once more. Our foes sing their swan song; a song of desperation and hubris, of collapse and complacency. We will see and achieve a world where Darkspawn do not exist. It was our stated purpose, and it continues to be so.

On that topic, it is important to bolster the ranks and recognize accomplishments where it is appropriate. There is little question of this individual's ability to serve as a Warden-Commander, and many would not have been shocked if we had fast-tracked them to the position upon joining The Order. They are an ever-present update force, a scourge upon The Blight wherever they meet it, a great friend, and a beyond capable member of The Order. They are one of the most talented individuals in The Grey Wardens, if not Defenderdom as a whole, and they more than deserve the roles and responsibilities they will be able to take on with this promotion. As we move forward as an organization, we continue to build from our members up, and I am confident that the inclusion of this individual in our Command staff will only help us with those efforts to further elevate us.

I am so fucking excited to formally announce the ascension of Grea Kriopia to Warden-Commander.

While The Order of The Grey Wardens is and always will be a military first, it is important for us to continue developing our culture and our internal affairs as the ranks of darkspawn are felled thin by our swords. With past promotions, such as Sarah becoming our Delegate, have already been geared with improvement on this fronts, it is important to continue to work towards patching holes in our present Command structure that we might lack. Grea Kriopia provides that drive and passion, particularly towards larger event organization, internal affairs, and regional development, that our present Command structure frankly isn't the greatest at. That's fine. We are a military-oriented group, and TGW has traditionally been a military oriented region. However, it is clear when talent is available to fill gaps that we might have, and GK absolutely fits that. This is not to take away from her military skill, mind you - she's easily one of the fastest chasers this game has ever seen and overall one of the most mechanically skilled R/Ders out there - but to simply emphasize what a well-rounded and obvious choice for Warden-Commander Grea Kriopia is for us. It's gonna be a fun time, folks.

Liberating forces airdrop behind Raider lines

Siege of Chaylia succeeds! Natives liberated! Raiders removed!

In another baffling display of Foreign Affairs judgement by the Raider Faction, Lone Wolves United abandoned their occupation of a fascist region and invaded Chaylia, the region project of Augustin Alliance Joint Task Force Commander Aav. As part of a coalition occupation alongside The North Pacific, The West Pacific, Thaecia, Lily and The Black Hawks - the last of this list being particularly notable for recently inciting a Foreign Affairs incident when they carelessly invited The East Pacific to an operation that violated one of their treaties without informing them of such - they quickly piled up to an endorsement count in the mid-60s. Notable things to observe of the piling turnout for the villains included yet another abysmal turnout by the once-capable TBH, Lily pulling out of the occupation, and raiders once again being carried by contributions from independent regions such as Thaecia and The North Pacific.

Yet, as with all invader occupations, it was set to come to a crashing end as a result of defender intervention.

In credit to LWU and Company, they did manage to hold longer than usual. Instead of the usual 12 hours, it did take us 24 hours to liberate this region back to native hands. Thankfully, liberated it we did, and the raider streak of defeat after defeat on their occupations was maintained. With a small beachhead started at major update, when we attempted to defend the region, the calls began to be put out immediately for liberators across the entirety of the extensive Libcord umbrella to muster their forces at the minor update. Come minor, a force of forty individuals in Libcord + folks from TITO and the Europeian Republican Navy besieged the region in an attempt to regain its freedom. While that attempt fell short ~50-58, it allowed for an even larger beachhead to form that would serve as the foundation for victory at major update. As that update drew near, once more the forces of freedom were mustered to achieve victory in the face of those who would so callously violate regional sovereignty. While the raider pile did grow, and we unfortunately had to have some comrades split off to other commitments, this would not deter us from the goal. A total of forty-four individuals in Libcord + folks from TITO + the native delegate attended the liberation. Back to back update with 50+ updater turnouts on short notice is pretty tough do to, but here we are doing it. In a major update which included an update record eighteen Grey Wardens and a spicy 4-second long trigger, the villains who were seeking to destabilize and bring harm to Chaylia were soundly defeated in a rousing 73-66 victory. The native delegate New Scottsville summarily removed all occupying forces to marinate in The Rejected Realms.

This was a massive coalition effort with a lot of work put in by a lot of people, and it's thanks to each and every person who participated that we were once again able to push back our enemies and show them defeat.

Sorry for the lack of activity folks, raiders have been really fucking dead and typically get broken by our libcord stacks within 12-24 hours even when they do come to life.
