Let's not screw up the history here; that region existed before I became SC. It was founded under my predecessor. I was a major part of coming to a reasonable understanding with them, sure, but that wasn't when I was SC either.

4 years ago, yesterday, on the 29th of January the USSD, at that time called "the United Soviet Socialist Dictatorships" was founded. In previous years anniversaries I have made long speeches and prepared lots of events and awards. This year I have been a little less active in NationStates, and I forgot to do anything like that, which is why this announcement is a day late. However, I will be issuing awards to those deserving in the following days, as I have done before. I will be also working with the rest of government to find new ways to revitalize the region. We are still going strong though, still standing at over 200 nations. That is far more than any of those who founded this community imagined, and it makes all of us proud. I originally started the USSD with a small group of friends that I invited to play NS, around 10. Today from those founding members there is only myself, Neu-Ulm, Neu Terra, and Ascendant humanity still active. I'd like to thank them for sticking around so long, and everyone else who has supported the region throughout the years. Supreme Commissars, Politburo members, ministers, advisors, Supreme Soviet members, and average citizens have all taken a part in continuing our glorious legacy. With any luck, we will continue to be a thriving and prosperous meritocracy for many years to come. Happy 4th Anniversary of the USSD to everyone!

Today we celebrate the longest reigning leader of our glorious region, Supreme Commissar Abrams / Free State Bottleneck! He has ruled for a total of 222 days, which is longer than any Supreme Commissar besides my original 619 day term. Abrams has maintained the stability of the region and integrity of the government, and continues to push our region along its eternal path of progress. He has facilitated the implementation of the first democratic institution, the Supreme Soviet, and helped smooth the transition of the community over to our Discord server.

With that being said, I'd also like to announce a few awards today.

Hero of Socialist Labour
sheeppusher / Ravae - Ravae has shown her dedication to the region in her role as Partisan Advisor, and is a very easy to work with and friendly person who we value very much.
The Multiversal Communist Collective - The last government member of our former sister region, the CTSN, now graces us with their presence in our community. We are happy to provide a home for all leftists, and we hope to see more CTSN members join forces in the coming days.

State Prize for Culture
sheep / Ravae - Ravae has continuously ran the USSD Minecraft server since its inception, and listens to the questions and comments of all participating users. The server has become a mainstay of our culture, and we are grateful she has put the time and effort into keeping the server running smoothly.

I am also proud to announce that Ravae will be the newest addition to the Advisory Board! She has proven she is responsible, friendly, smart, and is very active within the region. I'm sure she will prove her capabilities even more in her new position as Advisor to the central government.

I'd like to give some more clarification on what happened exactly so there is no confusion on the matter. As far as we know, the plot against us started a few months back, during the last Supreme Soviet elections. What we do know is that Abrams shared the election results with Sinovieta prior to the end of it, which was contrary to the point of the new voting system, which was supposed to be private. Sino then shared this with Neam, who at the time went along with everything. Around this time Neam was invited to the group DM which we know at least Sino and Abrams were a part of at the time. Sino said many times not to share this with anyone in the government. The exception being Abrams, as Sino has been quoted as saying "he's the one you can talk to about how you feel" (about corruption in the government).

Yesterday morning is when the situation started to escalate. As you know, I made the debate about what should be done with the Supreme Soviet open to all Partisans. We are assuming that Bunny/Alethea as well as Glac were invited to the group DM around this time, though it could have been earlier. There were two main proposals on what to do, created by Neam and Stoichia. Alethea, Glac, and Sino were opposed to Stoichis proposal, and argued against every point instead of trying to come to a consensus. We had actually already worked out an agreement between Neam and Stoichi, but as soon as Alethea came on she proposed a completely separate piece of legislation that had nothing to do with what we were talking about. She claimed it was "in tandem" with Neam's proposal, and that it had to be passed alongside his or couldn't be passed at all. Neam was not online to confirm this, so we told Alethea to wait until we at least worked out which of the first two proposals would be chosen. Instead, she decided to go the low route and guilt trip Neam for not being online. The details of that will not be made public for privacy reasons. Just know that because of this incident, as well as Alethea creating a divide in government, resulted in a vote to ban her by the Politburo. She was already on thin ice, being banned and made an enemy of the state previously. This time when we let her in, she was supposed to not be allowed in government, and this entire situation explains why. Around this time Neam revealed to me the plot to overthrow the government as well as the group DM, after he was kicked out of it.

After Alethea was banned, Sino, Glac, and Abrams stopped talking in the Discord server. We can assume that they were planning on what to do in the group DM. Glac and Sino eventually posted goodbye messages and left the server. Abrams left shortly after, and his message I posted earlier. If you would like to see Glac's message, it's still available on the Discord. Sino's message was extremely inflammatory and contained phrases like "death to the USSD" and "death to vetelo". Sino also complained about how USSD is the last place you will find democracy. I will be frank, if you came here for democracy, then you aren't very good at reading. We are the United Soviet Socialist Dictatorship, and we have always been fine without democratic institutions. I gave the Supreme Soviet a chance because I believed the people of the region deserved a say in government affairs. I gave the chance for everyone to make their voice heard in the matter of the SuSo, after it became inactive. I did not expect people to take advantage of it to create chaos in our community. I'm sorry for letting that happen, and I'm sorry I made the decision to let Alethea back in the region.

It's actually someone who's occupied the position before, our second SC. The great Concordato Tauriano, also known as Leo, Taurus, and by his current nation Hrabri Reka. Acktoria, a former Politburo member as well, has been voted Commissar of Internal Affairs. We will sort out the SuSo business in the coming days, as well as most likely make a few more appointments. I let Caroline/Bunny back into the region because we were dating, not because I have sympathy for "blacklisted" players. I accept that that decision was a mistake. The glorious and benevolent USSD government has decided to revive its presence in NationStates for the upcoming fifth anniversary of our amazing community. Recruitment is back online, and government documents onsite are being maintenanced as they do not reflect the current reality. We are happy to accept all of our new members to our Discord, which can be found on our World Factbook Entry. Visitors from across NS who are not residents or citizens are also welcome in the server and region as long as they are not prejudiced, toxic, reactionary, or a defender.

Greetings, people of the world!

The advisor and minister positions have been abolished! Every category of our Discord server has been reworked. The rules have been completely redone, removing 80% of the original garbage taking up the channel. The roles system has also been redone, and it is even easier than ever to add and remove roles yourself! A bunch of new roles have been added here and there for the heck of it as well.

The NationStates side of things is very neglected, though purposefully so. I heed all NationStates players who are checking out this forum embassy to join our region, but most importantly our Discord. You can find the link to our Discord in the first post in the forum embassy, or all over our NationStates page. I continue to maintain a limited role on-site as Deputy Supreme Commissar, though I continue to focus further mainly on our Discord platform. That is not to say that we have not been increasing our presence elsewhere, however. We plan to incorporate many other platforms into the USSD community as a whole, while using Discord as a central hub for intercommunication.

Just a short little update for you guys. You won't see even the half of it without joining the Discord though

Ashenov, our longtime Commissar of Security, chosen WA Delegate, and Former Supreme Commissar has been designated the successor of USSD. I am happy to see some significant changes are finally being made to NationStates, as the frontier system has a lot of potential. It will be interesting to see how the community will utilize these new tools we have been provided.
