DANBURG SEIZED

It is a little known fact that Osiris is actually a contractor of the Nuclear regulatory commission, and frequently performs surprise inspections on regions believed to be mishandling radioactive materials. This relationship was born in the 1940s and early 50s when Osiris loaned some of its vast deserts to the US government for nuclear testing (bad idea in hindsight), and shortly thereafter began working with the government to prevent the spread of radioactive contamination within its borders. The Osiran Homeland-Nuclear Organization (OH-NO) received a call Friday morning about a suspicious-looking region that was allegedly committing several serious violations.

Arriving on site that night for a surprise inspection were Nota, Phoebe, and Addison. Nota was excited, as she had never led an inspection before, and was looking forward to taking charge for once! Phoebe and Addison on the other hand, were more bored than anything else…they just wanted the inspection to be over so they could go home.

Unfortunately for Addi and Phoebe, the inspectors quickly realized that this inspection would be anything but short. Right away, the team discovered a whole host of violations! The facility door was completely unguarded, for one thing. In fact, not only was it unguarded and open, but the facility entrance was secured by nothing more than a single screen door! But it only got worse from there.

Inside, the inspectors found that every radiation area was left open and unguarded. No one had any survey meters, or any way to measure how much dose they were receiving (no one had any dosimeters). People were tearing off lead shielding to use as dinner plates (and eating off of them in a radiation area), depleted uranium bricks were used as paperweights in office areas, hot cells were left open and unguarded, and 3 strangely appetizing radioactive cookies were just sitting out in the open! Furthermore, the site reactor was leaking tritium water, coolant levels were dropping dangerously low, and the floor was contaminated.

Oh, and not just a part of the floor….the entire floor. Of the whole facility.

Did you ever play the game “the floor is lava” when you were a kid? Where you have to jump on the furniture to get around without touching the floor? Yeah. That’s basically how the inspection was carried out. The site operators had no shoe-covers or personal protective equipment (because why would they) so the inspectors had to leap around the facility without touching the floor to avoid contaminating themselves.

The native site operators were in bad shape. Symptoms of radiation poisoning were prevalent. They tried to deny the severity of their predicament…insisting that their facility could be up and running before long, and that the inspectors had no authority to permanently shut them down. Then they tried to plead with the inspection team, begging for a deal, or anything that could spare them from the inevitable. But it was too late for that. Phoebe called in backup from headquarters to secure and contain this mess. The facility was shut down, and the site operators were fired one at a time as the plant was decommissioned.

Nobody was really quite sure who Dan was, but he was definitely looking at a hefty fine.

Let me tell you a very, very sad story, the saddest story you will ever hear, did you know you can't spell "Danburg's" without sad? I received a telegram from a Marxist called Concordiaa that called me the DUMBEST writer in the history of the Security Council. That's fake news. Fake news that they got from the Low Ratings Europeian Broadcasting Corporation. I looked at the nation's page, I was thinking, this has to be an organized attack by the Ageist Accords? So who could it be, the Little League Defenders, Crooked Europeia, the Radical Left Wardens? No. I found out a terrible thing. That telegram came from the FOUNDER of the DEMOCRATIC ORDER OF DANSBURG. So sad. Destroy them, Osiris. Show absolutely zero mercy, Algerheaven is so, so mad right now, we're the most outraged region in NationStates history.

[MAJOR TAGS + Promotions]

You know, I've been thinking. The whole "desertification" business is a lot less profitable than it sounds. People just don't want to associate their regions with the negative connotations of reducing thriving ecosystems to barren wastelands of sand and dust. For some reason that makes some people uncomfortable, or even say that it is a "tragedy" that such life could be smothered out. We at Sekhmet of course believe that deserts are worthy ecosystems in and of themselves, but others choose not to see it that way. As such, we have decided to rebrand our enterprises to avoid the negative connotations of our work.

From now on, our so-called "desertification" will be referred to as sand-focused landscaping, our "induced droughts" will be called collective water reorganization, and "mass extinction" will be called large-scale animal control. With our fancy new brand names and a new can-do attitude, the Sekhmet legion has already found 7 new clients to take on our business, thanks to the work of our up-and-coming legionnaire, Rabbit!

TL;DR
Tonight, the sekhmet legion conducted a tag raid! This was a historic occassion, as it was Rabbit's first time triggering, but she did very well and managed to hit a majority of her targets (better than I did my first time, lol). Looking forward to seeing what she will do next!

She has consistently been a positive presence at update, and has shown dedication to both the sekhmet legion and her allies. With the completion of her first raid as trigger, rabbit has demonstrated both that she is highly knowledgeable in raiding, and that she is developing leadership capabilities that will be helpful to her further on in her raiding career. As such, I am pleased to award Rabbit a promotion to Mosaid!

Major Tagging + Rank Changes

Looks like winter is finally upon us, lol. Unfortunately, we in osiris are mostly used to warm, arid and desert-like climates, so the freezing wetness of winter tends to suit us poorly. As such, a few nights ago, a couple of legionnaires went out to try to find a nice warm cabin to wait out the winter in. They didn’t succeed of course…it turns out concepts like “warmth” and “shelter” don’t really exist in the digital world of nationstates, but they did get to raid 30 regions along the way at least (looks like the fendas got turned around in a blizzard)
