The Holy Principality of Saint Mark wrote:**Statement from the West Pacific Regarding Recent Events in TEP**
Today, there was an attempt by the incumbent delegate of The East Pacific to overthrow its constitutional government. Many of the allies of The West Pacific questioned whether or not we would take a side in this struggle and some demanded that we make a statement immediately. The West Pacific is not a reactionary region. In order to respond in a way that both honors our obligations and reflects our principles, we needed the time to outlay the sequence of events, and determine not only what action we wanted to take, but how we were going to take it and why.
TWP has a strong tradition of relying on game mechanics as the clearest source of authority in NationStates. This has not changed with the events that unfolded in TEP today. While we have always been champions of Delegate Supremacy, we also respect the flip side of this concept: namely, that the populace of a region has the right to rebel. Delegate Supremacy is not assumed. It is earned. A delegate who does not earn the respect and loyalty of their populace is not, in fact, a supreme delegate.
It is also worth noting that even by the strictest definition of Delegate Supremacy, we are still justified in choosing to support the natives of TEP. Per a dispatch made three days ago by Fedele, the Concordat and laws of TEP were reaffirmed as the legitimate laws of the region. As such, we are justified in recognizing both Fedele’s violations of regional law and Marrabuk’s legitimacy as Delegate-Elect.
As such, by the rules set out in our treaty with The East Pacific, The West Pacific is justified in acting in the interests of the constitutional government of TEP. At this time, The East Pacific’s constitutional government has made no request for military support. If such a request is made through the proper channels, however, TWP will honor its treaty.

Although the statement seems a bit contradictory, I'm glad to see we've balanced the need to avoid a reactionary response with the need for timeliness and respect for our allies.
