Now and DEN: Where are they now?

Gameplay was shaken to it's very core last week when the illegal tool Predator was ruled on, revealing that it was in fact, illegal. While many may feign surprise it's completely unexpected, when it's creater, Halcones, was declared Delete-on-sight for, wait for it, illegal script usage. Now, this isn't to brand every person around as a knowing cheater, but it's safe to assume that if one burner on the stove was hot, that you should check to see if the other is on, before plopping your hand on it.

Amid the punished, DEN as an organization was also declared illegal to form again, killing the organization that has lasted over 12 years, for an incarnation that lasted less than a year. Pretty big bummer for the veterans of DEN, to have their organization branded cheaters, by those who were not the most “Well-disciplined raider army to ever grace the battlefield”, but a community of cheaters who decided to bring the legacy of DEN to an atrocious close.

One question that I thought, was where did the people of DEN go? Only one DENizen was DoSed, so what happened to the rest of them?

The answer, just like with TBR, is not a linear answer. So far my investigations has found the dispersal to be in three regions: Grand Central, Hydra Command, and The Black Devils.

Grand Central has existed in its own right before DEN collasped, but it would be foolish to say their isn't at least some reflections in attitude, seeing how DEN Brigadier-General and High Command member 95 block (Formerly 94 block) is also the founder and Elder of Grand Central. Grand Central is predominantly raider, but exists outside of being a raider organization and more government. Gest and Kknight are both members of the region now, under The Dictatorship of Gest II and The Protectorate of Dark KKnight word is that they plan to get involved with the military. Whether this is just growing the military or participating (once their WA Bans are up, of course) remains to be seen.

Hydra was also a flocking point for the ex-DENners, as it was the officially recommended place by Gest[1], who stated he would be “...funding the region [Hydra] with no strings attached”. It is important to note that while all of the HyCom are former DEN operatives, only one of them was hit with the lowest form of punishment from the Predator scandal (Main nation DEAT and 3 month-WA Ban). It's unapparent at this point that besides being given the benefit of stamps from Gest, that the former DEN command will be going to this organization.

The Black Devils has the least of the DEN soldiers, having only 23 members on it's board, 4 of which were banned. According to their history topic[2], “TBD was mainly founded by 3 former DEN soldier nations. Those nations were Socio Polor, Petar Vasentius, and Trevor Russo”. These were a Corporal, Private First Class, and Private First Class, respectively. The highest ranked ported member is allegedly Liddel Hart, who was a Sergeant. However, 94 block and Nordic Arbor both appear as advisors on the board.

What lies ahead for the former DEN High Command is hopefully a reformed attitude, and more respect for the rules of this site. There will not be leniency towards these serial rule breakers, nor should there be, in the future. Only time will tell if they can keep on the right side of the law this time.

I almost went to Hydra! Instead I decided to make a new region to replace old Iwaku and also made a side region that is doing pretty well.

Where are all my other raider friends? Haven't seen much of you guys in a while.. hope everyone didn't quit NS.. I can tell you where one DEN nation went! A Million Voices is here in my region now! I stole him!

Just a side note, there were a few who went to The Black Hawks, although that number was less than 10 I believe.

A gameplay article that is actually interesting! I hope this publication continues to follow this story and provide updates as time passes. This will be the story of gameplay this year. Even if we fail to recognize that now, the Unibots of the future will write essays about this.

TBH has taken in a few of the lower rank folks, correct, but several have left as well and gone to the regions mentioned above. We've also has several notable names leave us of their own accord following this incident.
Proud Raider; General of The Black Hawks, Ret.

Or how unfair their punishments were and how come DEN-tribute regions owned by other people had to go... I agree.

A few lower ranked members trickled into Auralia, too, and we still have some ex-DEN members raiding with us. Former DEN members, of course, do not have any influence (leadership, senior, or officer positions) over the military or the regional government.

Despite the fact that I think this whole "DEN" nonsense is old news I found this article to give a refreshing view on the matter by not only reporting on the events that happened, but what happened afterwards as well.

Overall, good first publication.

Now and DEN: Aftermath I

As part of Nightbringer’s coverage of this year's biggest controversy, I sat down with Nephmir, who was one of many people to get their region back from the collapsed DEN.

Shadoke: Hello Nephmir! Glad you could join the Nightbringer News today to tell your story. Mind introducing yourself for those who don't know you?

Nephmir: I am the founder of Auralia, an Invader and Role Playing region. Some people know me from back when I was the founder of The Eternal Knights.

Shadoke: Nice nice. Now, The Eternal Knights was recently given back to you, after it fell under TBR/DEN control. In this dispatch, you state there was some sort of internal power shift. Care to explain what happened, and how the region was lost to TEK's enemies?

Nephmir: Enemies infiltrated TEK's government at the time, as was discovered later. One of these enemies, Anders Blakewood, was an independent, seeking to gain control of the region through the founder account and become the new King. His initial coup was successful, however he failed to gain the support of the region afterwards, as the Knights left the region refusing to follow him. With nothing left to rule, he transferred control of TEK to TEK's rival and biggest enemy, The Black Riders, where it remained under their control until they collapsed, with DEN picking it up immediately afterwards.

Shadoke: As we recently found out, the region was given back to you as part of the Predator ruling, and the destruction of DEN. How do you feel about this?

Nephmir: Well, it's cool to have TEK back. Though Auralia is my new home now, it's nice to have the first region I called home back under my control, and former Eternal Knights feel the same way.

Shadoke: So, is this the end of the line for TEK, to stay a memorial, or do you have alternative plans?

Nephmir: TEK will remain a memorial, unless the former TEK community shows an active interest in reviving the region. If anything were to happen to Auralia (after seeing regions being instantly deleted, you never know what could happen) TEK would probably be the back-up region for the community, too. But unless either of these scenarios were to happen, TEK will remain closed to the public with only former Eternal Knights permitted to join, as a memorial.

Shadoke: Back when you were the King of TEK, you were known for very public plays against TBR. After the fall there was less, to no public interactions. Had your sides come to a more cold war stance on the newly formed DEN?

Nephmir: I pursued other plans afterwards, I was just less vocal about them. If your enemies consist of the entirety of the Gameplay community (Natives, Raiders, Defenders, etc.), as it was for me back then, it's best not to post in their "territory", especially when you don't have a region left to back you up.

Shadoke: On one occasion, DEN-backed KGB stole the region The Eternal Realms from you. Considering this, was it justice to have DEN destroyed, and sort of the completion of your TBR takedown plan?

Nephmir: No comment on that. I will say I always refused to work with DEN personally, however, and tried to avoid having Auralia aid them on an official capacity whenever possible (maintaining a neutral stance), but unfortunately dual-citizenship between multiple Raider orgs made it very challenging to do so every time.

Shadoke: Thank you for your time! Any last comments?

Nephmir: Trump 2016!

Nephmir: ...

Nephmir: That's a joke. >_>

Good interview Shadoke  I remember back when I was active on the GP forum, I dislike Neph, but since I've comeback, and especially this interview, he seems to have matured quite a bit :)

I'd be interested in seeing an article in the future that details how former Den members have influenced R/D, how regions that have sprung up as a result have fared, etc.

Hope to see more content.
