The first light appeared on January 9th, 2004. The Europa Empire decided to (re)found the region in his own image. And he saw that it was good. Every year we celebrate this period with some nice regional festivities. Many other first creations happened in this period. Four months later the regional forum was created. Back then the RMB didn't hold more than 10 posts, so everyone was happy to have a dedicated place to continue their conversations.

Today, 16 years later, a thriving community remains. Yes: it's really been that long ago. We grew from an innocent and naive toddler into an annoying teenager hitting the end of puberty and wanting to borrow the car. So let's just feature everyone here as one big happy community.

Today this community celebrates its 17th birthday. Yes: it's really been that long. A lot has changed, and yet a lot has also stayed the same.

These past 12 months have brought quite a few changes, both here and IRL. Thanks to generous stamps our thriving community grew to nearly double its original size. We're very grateful to make so many new friends. The expanded membership also provided an opportunity to include more staff members. This all-volunteer staff team includes mentors, moderators, cartographers and tech-admins. Together we continue to strive for a healthy social space to get through this global pandemic.

I personally can't wait to see the results of our current big projects.
And I look forward to more RP stories with more friends.

Welcome, welcome, welcome to "last years tonight"! I'm Orioni. Time now for a quick recap of the news.

1. Eurth. An update is rather challenging when you flaked updates for twenty-two months. We invested time in polishing our little corner of the NationVerse. Focussing on quality still seems to work. Since the last time of my posting, an additional 36 players joined. Staff like to keep a tight ship, though. As a consequence caps were introduced to limit the number of culturally-similar countries. Applications for !African and !Asian countries a very welcome.

2. Roleplay. Our writers have been as busy with their own story. The main thread is the ongoing Anglian War, a conflict that erupted in 2021 evolved into a wurld war. Check out some of these featured stories:

3. Getting old. Last November, NS celebrated its 20th anniversary. And our little old region isn't too far behind either. How very exciting.

Today, we gather to celebrate an incredible milestone: the 20th anniversary of our beloved community, Eurth. Two decades ago, our journey began as a small group of imaginative minds. And today, we stand here as a vibrant, diverse, and ever-growing family of creators, thinkers, and storytellers.

First and foremost, I want to extend my deepest gratitude to each and every one of you. To the founders and OG players, who laid the first stones of this magnificent edifice of imagination; to the moderators, cartographers, mentors, officers, and administrators, who have tirelessly worked behind the scenes to keep our community thriving; and to the members, new and old, who have poured their creativity and passion into this world, making it a rich symphony of stories, cultures, and histories. Your dedication, enthusiasm, and boundless creativity have been the lifeblood of the community that is Eurth.

As we celebrate this remarkable anniversary, let us reflect on the incredible journey we've shared. From our earliest days, we've built not just countries, but also friendships and memories that span continents and cultures. We've witnessed epic tales unfold, seen empires rise and fall, and explored the very limits of our collective imagination. Our community has been a beacon of creativity, a safe haven for dreamers, and a proof of the power of collaborative storytelling.

Looking ahead, the future of Eurth is as boundless as the universe we create. Let us continue to foster a welcoming, inclusive, and nurturing environment for all who wish to join us.
