I did. It shows the link address, but it does not make a link one can click on.

you have to use the [url] tags.

Code: Select all

Is it possible to make your own region?

If it is, how is it done?

Go to the main page of your current region. Under the World Factbook Entry of your region, there should be a box saying "Tired of living in @@YOURREGION@@?" Click on it. In the page that opens you will be given the option to choose a region to move to or to found your own region.

Plus, I think this topic is gonna be locked.

Someone already reported it to moved.

Make sure the tickbox that your nation has permanent executive authority is checked.

I telegrammed them since they'll likely not find where their topic was moved.

Just a note that I've added various things, including some info on refounding, and more edits to make better sense of regional officers. Also added a section on interregional politics, which is in need of much love and expansion.

Wonderful stuff! I look forward to referencing this information often.

If I were to make a region where there are open opportunities to be a powerful elected official and for the WA delegate to have executive powers, should I take the risk for my region to be potentially raided?

I would say hold off from giving executive powers to your WA Delegate until your region get enough members and your WA Delegate gains a safe amount of endorsements..

No reason for them to hold the delegacy when you can just appoint someone with all the powers and "force" the delegate to vote how that leader wants.

Only if your region is very large, and your Delegate has a great number of endorsements. In that case you could enforce a maximum endorsement limit on other nations to keep the Delegate safe. But the gap between your Delegate and any other nation ought to be around 30 endorsements to be safe, and that can be quite the ask.

It would be much safer to create a regional officer position with all the powers, and give that to the nation of your elected official. They would therefore have all powers (except the Delegate's WA vote - but you could require the Delegate to vote as commanded) and would not have any risk of losing those powers to invaders.

What makes a good recruitment tg?

I listed a few tips for recruitment TGs here. I'll repost it here:

  • Use the code "%Nation%" (without the quotation marks) in a recruitment telegram, and it will be replaced with the name of the recipient of the telegram. For example, if you type "Hi %Nation%!", and your telegram is delivered to Maxtopia, it will be replaced with "Hi Maxtopia!". This is a great tool to make your telegrams seem more personal. Note that this tag only works if there is more than one recipient of the telegram, or if it is a telegram template. The tag will not work in a non-template to a single recipient nation.
  • Simply asking that players move to your region is not enough. Your recruitment telegram should explain why your region is a great place to be. Talk about what your region is like, such as its theme if it has one, the kind of role plays it has running if you do role plays. Include information on activities and things to do, such as a regional map, or active chatroom. A good idea would be to create a new nation, and have a look at the recruitment telegrams it receives for ideas.
  • A wall of text looks horrible and people will not read it. Break up your text into paragraphs, use sub headings to its always clear what you're talking about. Focus on specific points, don't just ramble. Do not make the telegram too long.
  • While good use of boldened, italic, or underlined text can make your telegrams a lot more interesting to look at, overusing any of these can also have the opposite effect. Do not use ALLCAPS, for most players it is obnoxious to read. Make absolutely sure your spelling and grammar are correct.
  • Make sure your region actually is interesting! Having a lovely recruitment message is all well and good, but if your region is in fact inactive and empty, players will not stay very long. Overselling and failing to deliver will not grow your region in the long run. If your focus is on the community and activity of your region, and that is coming along nicely, you'll find your recruitment rates will pick up as well. Make your region somewhere people will want to be, and they'll come.

Well I imagine you'd use some kind of editing software like photoshop. The actual act of creating a map isn't really something I'm good at, sorry.

Can you delete previously created regions?

Yes, but you need to clear everybody from the region first and then leave. The region will then CTE. (This is generally done by raider groups, who subsequently refound the region.)

If there are no nations in a region when it updates (game update is every 12 hours) it will automatically be deleted. There is no manual delete button however. So if you want to delete your region for whatever reason, empty it of nations, then password lock it so nobody else can join, and it will vanish at update.

With regards to telegrams, which kind are you using? I have run API and manual for 2 regions now in the past few years, and my current project has had over 7000 API telegrams sent, of which about 20% were read, and maybe 1% resulted in a recruit. Manual is at about 1000 telegrams, and about a 1-2% recruitment rate. (I don't have read reports, as that only becomes available over 1000 sent telegrams, and I've used 2 different templates). I don't have stamps running, as I don't currently have the funds to set aside for stamps.

How your telegram is structured and worded can also affect who reads it, and further who joins because of it. You also need to remember that you're often competing against something like 40 other regions at any given time.
This thread may be able to help you see what successful recruitment telegrams can look like

As for other ways to recruit, a well structured forum thread that is interesting to read may bring a few recruits, but that's really the only other way that I can think of.

I presume the person in question might have blocked recruitment telegrams in the settings.

Ok, I've been running recruitment for more than a week now, 24 hours a day. According to NS++, the total amount of telegrams I sent to were 1,035 - 0 have been recruited. I also set up a NS Gameplay thread advertising my region. So far I only got 1 other small nation.

Is there any other good way to get active people interested in RP to join my region (The United Nations)?

Some general advice:

API telegrams from NS++ are not terribly effective sadly, since so very many of them are sent. Manual recruitment is ideal, though very tedious and only really reasonable if you have lots of people putting in the work. Even then, players are swamped with telegrams and yours will need to really stand out to be effective. Even then, returns remain quite low for the investment you put in.

If you're trying to make an RP dedicated region, it would perhaps be better to advertise to RPers. You'd want to talk to a proper RP Mentor on how you might best approach that.

More importantly, I always recommend that you don't start a new region on your own. Spend some time in other regions, build up friendships and relationships first. It is far better to start a new region with a group of active friends or associates. That way you can split the work. And perhaps of greater benefit, from day one your region will appear active, because it's you and these friends talking to each other, and that does a lot to draw people in. Players are more likely to join an energetic new community where they can see interaction and things being set up, than they are to join a region with one nation who is just waiting for people.
