More Dialogue Needed Dealing with Issues

Postby Arimaon » Mon Feb 01, 2010 6:12 am

Many times the issues at stake are really interesting, but I have to decide between two or three opinions with which I do not agree at all. I understand that it may not be possible for us to formulate rullings, but I would like to be able send the issues "back" for re-discussion and see if I get a chance to be presented with a different set of options that might approach my personal point of view.
Otherwise I will have to start dismissing even if I think that something should be done.

That's not how the issues work, bro. Every issue has pre-set (in fact, typed manually to the letter) and the only things that change are the names involved. (I know since I had a ~1bil nation back in 07-08) The change you request would mean the writers and the editors have a shit-ton more work to do.

Also, it ruins the fun of issues. Part of it is the fun of biting the bullet and choosing the lesser evil, and some of it is the elation you get when you have a choice that steps right in line with your political beliefs after 500 bad issues. Having "re-discussion" would simply make the whole mechanic bland. If you had cake every day, it won't be as tasty if you could only eat it on your birthday.

As Satirius touched on, issues are not meant to be realistic. Remember that while this is a nation simulation game, it's a nation simulation game based off of a satire novel. So, you have to read between the lines, in order to figure out what the option is really saying. If you still don't agree with any of them, the best option is to dismiss the issue altogether. I do it quite frequently.
