Nation Help

Postby Ostronopolis » Sun Jan 31, 2010 7:25 pm

Alright, I rarely come to this forum, however, this issue has me puzzled. I'm attempting to keep my nation with a Laissez-Faire economic system. Yet, I have noticed that in order to have a good or at minimum, a decent environment the only option is quite often the regulation of business or large government action. Both of which, go against my beliefs. So I was curious, is there any way to simultaneously achieve a good environment, WITHOUT increasing government size and economic regulation?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can get a lot of seemingly bizarre national concepts if you answer issues your way for long enough. Normally, the issues that deal with the environment regulate business, but (I think) it's more one than the other. So if you keep protecting the environment and reduce government size and regulation in other ways, you'll eventually have your stats the way you like.

I'm afriad this is where the men are seperated from the boys.

Business need resources to grow, resources an environment provides, so nature will suffer as businesses consume land and materials in order to grow. However, the environment can be a delicate thing that which your citizens and national animal depend on. This is where and when governments usually intrevene to strike a middle ground that benefits both the economy and ecology.

My advice: pick an option and just remember the question, and option you picked. So the next time the question comes around you can pick a different option.

Sorry, I have managed it but can't now remember all of the steps involved...

(On the 'Uranium mining in the rainforest' issue, choose option#3.)
The Confrederated Clans (and other Confrederated Bodys) of the Free Bears of Bears Armed
(includes The Ursine NorthLands) Demonym = Bear[s]; adjective = ‘Urrsish’.
Population = just under 20 million. Economy = only Thriving. Average Life expectancy = c.60 years. If the nation is classified as 'Anarchy' there still is a [strictly limited] national government... and those aren't "biker gangs", they're traditional cross-Clan 'Warrior Societies', generally respected rather than feared.
