October/November Update: St Abbaddon Invaded!

St. Abbaddon Invaded: The Massive Army Returns
MISSIONS | Brigadier General Knot

Image

Last hit by the Brotherhood of Malice nearly two years ago, St. Abbaddon, a prominent region with well-established ties to defenders and the UDL, was once again invaded by the invincible forces of DEN. Brigadier General Knot first infiltrated the password-protected region about two months ago and led the update operation to seize St. Abbaddon at major on the 21st.

A series of unfortunate events, including a tight trigger and an update glitch, caused the team to miss and defenders from TITO, UDL, and WHR to begin piling onto the native delegate. As the minor approached and the gap between raiders and defenders widened to seven endorsements, a stealth invasion was scrambled by Knot, consisting of elite soldiers from DEN, The Kingdom of Great Britain, and Cimmeria.

Despite the numerous defenders available during update, no further troops were pulled in to support the native delegate. A minute before the second invader wave struck, Ravania posted a conceited reply to the RMB post of a native asking if an invasion had taken place, stating that there was indeed an attempted raid, but defenders like himself successfully stopped it. The leader of the UDL quickly erased his post after seeing the subsequent blue-and-gold standard fly over St. Abbaddon when invaders won at update, 14-12.

Within a single update, forty units from DEN marched in to aid the occupation of St. Abbaddon. At the major update, TITO sought to rectify their wrongdoing, with five updaters jumping in under the command of 3lite3 in a daring attempt to liberate the region. Unfortunately for them, four found themselves on an unscheduled, all-inclusive vacation to the Rejected Realms before the update rolled over. Led by Brigadier General Knot, Field Marshal Gest, Colonel 94 block, and Captain Gladio, the operation continues with the invader delegate resting at a stable 85 endorsements. We'd like to thank Europeia, The Black Hawks, Ile de France, and Lone Wolves United for their steady support. The massive army returns.

BOOM: There goes the population
REGIONAL NEWS | Sergeant Tyegëa

Standing at a mere 518 nations but a week before Halloween, when it shot 562 nations, DEN’s population is growing in leaps and bounds. As if that wasn’t enough, the end of the next week saw the population jump by almost 80 nations to 640, before reaching a staggering 691 nations on World Diabetes Day. But only four days later, the population jumped once again by over a hundred nations to the 793, finally to its peak on the 21st, and on page two on the list of regions, as 15th most populous region in the world and the 4th largest, non-puppet storage User-Created Region.

All in all, we give a massive shoutout to our dedicated recruiters who -- fighting the onslaught of competitors and the dreaded carpal tunnel syndrome -- continue to send recruitment TGs without flinching in the face of overwhelming adversity.

Making History: WAD The F**k?
SPECIAL | Sergeant Tyegëa

“We have a Delegate?! Since when?” — Just about every DENmate

Making history with a landmark decision completely unheard of and breaking over a decade of DEN and purist raider protocol, the 16th of November saw the High Command give the green light to DEN to endorse a veteran of DEN from many years ago, FOREVERDEN, otherwise known as Brigadier General Rose. After over half a year of unauthorised delegates being elected by other members of the World Assembly in DEN -- since everyone endorsed anyway despite being ordered not to time and time again, it wasn’t going to hurt anyone and everyone seemed so happy endorsing each other -- this unofficial, oft-unspoken taboo was struck out and rendered null and void.

As an added bonus, Rose has been gifted with a flag befitting her position as Delegate and Sovereign General, as well as her very name!

Yorkshire Invaded!

Invasion forces disembark on the eastern coast of England

Yorkshire Invaded!

The blue-and-gold standard flew over another historical, founderless region as defenders continued to mindlessly break "detagging records."
Despite a 95-man army (number as of current) garrisoned in St Abbaddon, the elite soldiers of DEN, along with friends from The Black Hawks and Auralia, stormed into passworded Yorkshire, ending a native delegacy of 227 days.

Troops of DEN:

Brigadier General Knot II
Sergeant The Type 49 Tardis
Corporal Malvacka
Corporal Demzelka

The Black Hawks:

Lieutenant Ever-Wandering Souls
Sergeant Raging Zen Master
Private First Class Starkhawk
Private Seland9

Auralia:

Horsemen The Tomanian Reich
Senior Warrior Thalerland
Senior Warrior Laraor

History will record the DEN as the most notorious, well-organized and well-disciplined raider army ever to grace the battlefield.

December 2015 Update: CONDEMNED

CONDEMNED

The High Command:

✯✯ Generals: KKnight and Nordic Arbor
✯✯ Brigadier-General: Knot

CONDEMNED: Guilt by association
SPECIAL | Sergeant Tyegëa

Through a series of failed proposals of the same name and purpose -- all ill-written -- before it and even its present state of #187, the region of DEN has been branded as one of the condemned: as an entity towards which widespread, apoplectic shock, horror, disgust and rage have all been expressed of its actions and crimes towards nativedom and defenders alike.

DEN, not even a year old in this present-day incarnation, has raided many, many regions: numbering in their thousands, and possibly even in their tens of thousands! For DEN shall sleep not through the long nights, for DEN shall waver not in resolve, for DEN shall falter not in their future steps forward, for DEN shall grant not mercy to the nativedom and defenders they continue to scourge to this day.

Crosswords: Did you get it right?
SPOILER | Sergeant Tyegëa

“I took this. I'm pretty sure I got all of them except the last one, 3 down. Sigh.” — Cormac Stark

Now these words may not be cross, but this is definitely a crossword. And it goes in one direction and the other direction: down and across. Perplexing many, but only one brave soul dared to complete it and sent the answers off to Esooreet. But we saved the worst till last: 3 down. Now you might be thinking, “What the bleep was 3 down?” but think no more, for the answers are as follows, with compliments:

1. Knot | I did ____ see that coming!
4. Rose | A ____ by any other name would smell just as sweet.
5. SunRawr | Last Field Marshal of DEN before its current incarnation.
6. Grippsholm | The RLA spy who succeeded Franks as Field Marshal upon the latter's retirement.
7. TITO | Seized the region of DEN from raiders in 2005.
8. Isaraider | Mallorea and Riva is the Patriarch of the raider family _________.
9. Gest | ____ is best.
10. Tommy Franks | The most notorious Field Marshal of DEN and founder of The Jolly Rodger.

2. Of Crazed | A former Field Marshal of DEN who was elected Delegate of The South Pacific.
3. North West Somerset | The youngest member of the High Command in the history of DEN.

And since we’re being really nice here, North East Somerset is also acceptable as the answer to 3 down! Now let’s tell you a little bit about North East Somerset:

When most of us were just starting high school, North East Somerset was a Brigadier-General in DEN II back in the good (or bad) old pre-Influence days with MSN by his side, and that of his fellow raiders back in 2004. Now he may have been deleted by the moderators for raiding, but that didn't stop him from going on to becoming the King and now Crown Prince of Balder! How the years fly by...

NationStates World Fair IV: Now and DEN
FOREIGN CORRESPONDENT | Sergeant Tyegëa

Having unexpectedly ended up with having a booth cleared for us in this year’s NationStates World Fair -- an annual, Gameplay-wide event attended by many -- we were left in quite the predicament: what were we to do with it? With neither preparation nor premeditation, Sergeant Tyegëa took the initiative immediately and set off on preparing a guestbook complete with a badge, as well as a crossword. Receiving each and every attendee who paid a visit with pleasure, here’s what some of the customers were saying:

“DEN’s den, eh?” — Almonaster Nuevo
“Hail! Sgt Tye *salutes” — North East Somerset
“Where is the Doritos™ stand? Don't tell me you guys don't have one.” — Pauline Bonaparte
“You know, when I first started playing, you were on the list of Bad People I should never talk to. I’m so glad we grew out of that phase.” — Naivetry

Early on, our booth turned into a makeshift pub with IPA being brought in, with Arnott’s Assorted Creams biscuits following close behind alongside revelry, chatter and hospitality. But one thing stood out from the others: our badge. For something made so quickly, it was quite a surprise for so many to have the want to snaffle it up, and the praise heaped upon it was absolutely monumental.

Brigadier-General Knot also took the initiative and set off writing up the history of DEN extending well through the past decade, back to the very dawn of Raiderdom, but nothing is ever complete without a complimentary “Ask Me Anything” session!

But this did nothing to stop the two DENmates from taking part in the fun. Though Knot mostly attended to DEN’s booth, Tyegëa (under her more universal name of “Kemi”) went on a massive badge-hunt, collecting as many badges as she could and was spotted taking part in a number of activities, and became the person who made the 5th most posts of all attendees.

All in all, for such an impromptu preparation, DEN’s booth turned out to be more successful than anticipated. A shout-out goes out to whoever asked for a booth to be cleared for DEN at our very first World Fair! o/

Post count: Over 6000!
(LITERALLY) BREAKING NEWS | Sergeant Tyegëa

Despite being only seven-and-a-half months old, DEN’s forums have been growing up in leaps and bounds, and hit the 6000-post milestone in the middle of December. And even at the time of writing, it continues to skyrocket to greater and greater heights. But a few individuals here are worth mentioning as instrumental in raising the post count (counts conducted on 23/12/2015):

#1 Sgt. Tyegëa ~ 1286 posts | #2 Col. 94 Block ~ 534 posts | #4 Cpl. Annihilators of Chan Island ~ 456 posts:

This intrepid trio -- consisting of the Director of Foreign Affairs, his Secretary and a proud, long-time member of the Piler Club -- set off and sought to conquer each other in a three-way spam war. As an older member of the forums than both Tye and 94 by almost five months, Chan had the advantage of a head-start, but as the war dragged on, the newest member -- 94, who signed up to the forums only a single day after Tye -- soon got the lead of both Tye and Chan. But it was not to be.

Tye, in a last-ditch attempt, upped the ante and page-refreshing, and ever-so-gradually managed to surpass Chan and gain on 94 with her fast-growing post count. She rose through the ranks from #4, to #3, to #2, and finally managed to snatch the coveted rank of #1 from 94 Block. Many sought to compete against her, but were met with disappointment as her post count hit the 1000-post mark.

#3 Brigadier-General Knot ~ 474 posts:

As an older member of the forums, Knot’s clear head-start may be all fine and dandy, but when it came to maintaining it, his consistency is second to none. From approving applicants into DEN’s formidable army, to meeting each and every new member’s introductions with warmth and salutations, Knot is testament to the fact that it’s not always spam that makes the forums go round, but the simplest greetings, too, though Knot has participated in spam games in the past.

Christmas presents: drowning in promotions with a banner on top!
EPILOGUE | Sergeant Tyegëa

Christmas time is here and so is DEN’s spirit, festive as ever at this time of the year! Sergeant (or should we say, Lieutenant) Tyegëa went full-on Santa Claus and gifted the region with a new forum banner (with the instructions NOT to open the spoiler until Christmas Day, or else the unfortunate peeper would find themselves on Santa’s Naughty list)...

But Tyegëa was not the only Santa Claus that had come to town: the High Command also got themselves into the holiday spirit. And for all their hard work and dedication to the region, the following soldiers have received much-deserved promotions, some of which were long overdue...

First came Corporals in their viridian masks and second chevron:

Nom de guerre: 9003
Previous rank: Private First-class
Current rank: Corporal

Nom de guerre: Brysor
Previous rank: Private First-class
Current rank: Corporal

Nom de guerre: Chingis
Previous rank: Private First-class
Current rank: Corporal

Nom de guerre: SirZane
Previous rank: Private First-class
Current rank: Corporal

Next up to the podium were the Sergeants in all their iridescent greens and third stripe:

Nom de guerre: Malvacka
Previous rank: Corporal
Current rank: Sergeant

Nom de guerre: Varax
Previous rank: Corporal
Current rank: Sergeant

With honours, the newly-fledged Lieutenants were inducted as officers in their own right... with their smexy gold bar! Let’s hear it for:

Nom de guerre: FatFreddy
Previous rank: Sergeant
Current rank: Lieutenant

Nom de guerre: Tyegëa
Previous rank: Sergeant
Current rank: Lieutenant

Nom de guerre: The Type 49 TARDIS
Previous rank: Sergeant
Current rank: Lieutenant

But the High Command saved the biggest, best Christmas gift till last, for a most extraordinary inductee into their own prestigious ranks:

Nom de guerre: 94 Block
Previous rank: Colonel
Current rank: Brigadier-General

Congratulations to the promoted, and a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all!

Great! Congratulations! o/

I was wondering could it be possible organize someday real test by DEN,TBR, & all raiders for gauging how things would go beyond those eternal one hitters. 20 pups per raider would be enough. Custom tags for joint ops. are invented too. Just for seeing what thing could look like if an evolution of R/D would've continued other ways.

15-20 raider updaters would do miracles out there, and Old TBR records are made to be broken. ;)

@ Cora, our DEN Games are still being planned and organized. You'll get your competition, albeit in good raider spirit though.

Thanks everyone for the well wishes on the promotions. Happy all the holidays to you. 2016 is going to be great!

Let's see: 94 Block responded nicely to your inquiry, thanked everyone for the well wishes on his promotion, and wished everyone happy holidays. For this he gets two posts to tell him how bad his attitude is? There's someone with a bad attitude posting in this thread, all right, but it's not the new DEN Brigadier General.

I hope the newer raiders who are following your lead on the field are also paying attention to your examples of what not to do in your interactions with other raiders.

Congratulations to 94 Block and everyone else for the much deserved promotions, and to DEN for its continued success.

Mate, cool it will you? At least 94 Block doesn't seem to bring a toxic attitude to everything like you do. Afterall, there's a reason you've been banned from both DEN and TBH. And trust me, like, 94 Block and I don't really get along at all, but hell at least I can have a normal conversation with the guy and be like "Alright this is a cool fellow" without being called a moderate traitor, or defender scum, or whatever terms you use for people that don't subscribe to your ridiculous ideology these days.

I forgive Cora's outbursts guys. It's okay. I do somewhat deserve his anger considering what I did several months ago after being spam added to the cimmeria skype chat. I've apologized for that since. Now that I officially represent DEN as a member of High Command, I will no longer continue such actions.

Yep, I intend on leading again once my schedule clears up a bit in a couple days.

@94. Apologies. Few years in defensive positions for purist gameplay approach within raiderdom has caused to me certain habit of reactions in situations where I find that a raider individual is rewarded for exactly same sh*tty behavior I myself been accused. Often without real reasons. This time I simply pointed it out. So called "classy" raiders seems to me oftenmost worst ones, what comes their ability to handle critisisms. My purpose was constructive, a style as blunt as ever.

Good luck general 94, act like general.

Nothing personal.

A couple of days late, but...

No. Saying "Nothing personal" doesn't change the fact that this is pretty much nothing but an attack on another player, without even a flimsy veil of being psuedo-IC to try and pass it off as "just GP snark." *** Warned for flaming. ***

I suspect moderation has let "just GP snark" go unattended for too long, because the increased toxicity all around is becoming quite the concern. I think that the team is overdue a discussion in the sekrit lair regarding our enforcement standards for Gameplay.
