HEROES RISE NO MORE

After the early abdication of the former delegate, the eventually abdication of ORCA, and only one serious liberation attempt by traditional defenders, the multi-regional operation in Heroes Rise has conclude with the ejection of the final of dozens of natives and the passwording of the region. Thanks to all involved for their supporting, including the previously unmentioned 11th-hour arrival of Conch Kingdom! Oh, and also special thanks to my favorite RO, Black Mekhet (Sorry DK, Green, Tom, Sav, Scar and Siniarius, y'all tied for second favorite) - welcome back to R/D, man! We of course couldn't have done it without all the pilers, updaters, and RO's who put their time into this mission. The Black Hawks look forward to helping and being helped by our allied many more times to come.

A very interesting operation, for sure.

Given the name of the region and our initial intentions of testing out the capabilities of ORCA we believed that this was going to be a relatively short lived deal. One would think that, when given the opportunity to "rise to the challenge", it would be met with enthusiasm for the contest. To the dismay of the natives and all of those who were outright lied to in ORCA, we were wrong. ORCA failed and gave up entirely; their organization is in flames as we speak - reduced to nothing more than an RP region with members jumping ship daily. Liberation attempts by The Grey Wardens and TITO as well as their allies, while being notable, failed to gain real momentum. It was ultimately this combination of events that lead to the death of the community within Heroes Rise.

We now have a World Assembly Security Council proposal that will undoubtedly reach quorum aimed at "liberating" the region. No discussion thread has been established for it and I suspect the reasoning is simple: the powers behind it do not want to discuss the reality of the situation. This is a public relations nightmare for those involved, and one of their own doing. There is nothing left to liberate at this point. 34 days have passed. Even if things work out in their favor with the password being removed and the region eventually " " liberated " " by defender-aligned forces the damage has been done.

Drop the proposal and give up Heroes Rise. It is over. Everyone who actually called the region home has moved on.

This whole series of events should serve as a point of embarrassment for defenders. The inhabitants were laughed at in Lone Wolves United's own Discord voice channel by defenders and completely ignored, only to be given one half-measure liberation attempt before being ultimately forsaken. Their own defender aligned mother organization, ORCA, never even attempted to put up any noticeable fight and abandoned them at the very beginning.

Sergeant Sygian waits for Rai’s cue to move in

In secret Black Hawk war room at secret a location.

Rai: Alright, with Blackout out of the way, we can begin to prepare for our next target. This will enable our Hawks to fly higher than ever before, and hit targets from orbit.

A hawk scout flies into the secret war room.

Scout: Sir! We just found out that the natives have decided to fund a space program to stop us from reaching orbit.

Rai: Oh, they think they can stop us, do they? Well, don’t you worry your tail feathers, I think we can make this work to our advantage.

Rai flies out of the room, into the darkness.

Later, at WSA command
“This is World Space Administration Mission Control Room, we are go to test the new aerial defense system”

Suddenly, Sergeant Rai, who had infiltrated the WSA as a technician months earlier, throws off his lab coat to reveal his wings, and his AKs. After a brief gun fight, Rai walked across the now empty control room and picked up a radio.

Rai: This is Rai, we are go for launch, send ‘em to the moon”

This past major, The Black Hawks soared into the World Space Administration for an easy takeover, following months of infiltration from Sergeant Raionitu. (Special thanks to Firehelm for assisted planning in executing this operation!)

But alas, this successful hit was only a portion of what Sergeant Sygian had in store for new recruits Private Raiders Payday and Private Fallaz. On a special mission get on their good sides, and become officially cooler than Field Marshal EWSouls, Sergeant Sygian brought the rest of the Hawks on the run some Ice Cream(oland)!

Newborn Hawk, Private Fallaz, patiently waits for SGT Sygian to return with their prey.

Huzzcaw! At major update, The Black Hawks, with the gracious help of Hydra Command, flew in and swept up the Alliance of the Northern States in their talons, only to bring their prey home to the nest to feed the rest of the always starving Hawks!

I'd also like to give kudos to Private Fallaz, as they have shown a lot of integrity and discipline on the battlefield. They were also the first to move into the region within a fraction of a second after I issued the GO order. Nice work!

Final Update on Heroes Rise

Postby Ever-Wandering Souls » Sun Sep 25, 2016 11:10 pm

A bit of an editorial on the end of Heroes Rise:

I figured I'd give a final update on Heroes rise. Following a strong pre-campaign to beat the Security Council liberation (with several thousand Against votes lined up to be submitted as it went to vote, and a crafted telegram campaign ready to go), Pfc. We Are Not TBH noticed a technical error in the proposal and was able to get it dismissed from the queue shortly before coming to vote. Combined, these efforts showcase TBH's ability as a multi-faced Gameplay region to leverage personal connections, various members' individual skillsets, and diplomatic lines of communications to fight and win not just the battles of the update, but other assorted angles of raiding (throwback to our recruitment contest with LWU and Unknown!).

Unfortunately, shortly after that, the founder finally noticed something was amok (after letting the region be occupied for well over a month and cleared out), revived their nation, booted me, told us to "fuck off" in the WFE, and while I was away camping, apparently left the region to die, seeing as it's community had long since made their peace and moved on.

That's where things get interesting: Seems, as in the Security Council, the "defenders" of NS, after failing to do any actual defending of Heroes Rise, have again failed to let the wishes of the natives stand as is. Instead, they've refounded the region away from the actual founder, and appear to be doing about exactly what I tend to do with refounded regions: remove WA delegate powers, slap up a WFE that's not the same as what was there before, and open the region back up to anyone who wishes to come there (See, for example, The association of Imperialism, which once even had a more grand WFE prior to some long ago events). I wish them success in their region-building, and congratulate them on stealing it from the natives. Truly, had I not been away, I would have hoped to execute this exactly as well as they are. Though, may I suggest, if the states of war, raids, refusing to defend those who dare to question your methods, and region-stealing from founders are to continue alongside the actual defensive actions, you go ahead and take the title of Imperialists already? I wager that would make things less confusing for all of us.

I'd say in the end, perhaps the Heroes really did Rise... but the hero in this case, the original founder, not only was too late to save much of anything, but also was defeated again in the end by those that would have you believe it is they who serve the greater good.

All in all, not the most disappointing end to an operation where we initially expected the recently-cte'd founder to return in a matter of days.

Until next time,

-Souls

This whole operation never ceased to puzzle me. A region of defenders who gives up on defending once they've been invaded, defenders laughing at natives in an invader chat as the natives ask for help, WA nations wandering in haphazardly, a defender turned raider, another defender criticizing Lazarus for being unable to help and then joining them for the stated goal of rising to power, now the founder comes back and defenders refound the region.

Did I miss anything? This is amazing.

Wow.

A quote comes to mind when thinking about all of this.

[10:03 AM] JaroZawiercie: @Roavin I would like to say a perversive joke but I have honor.
[10:04 AM] Roavin: @Antartica You do? When did you steal it?

The "joke" being this situation and "honor" being Heroes Rise.

I suppose it was a folly to believe that this had reached a point where things could not get worse for Defenders involving Heroes Rise.

A flock of The Black Hawks swarm into TNI to snatch their prey

Location: The Nest

Sergeant Sygian (On The Nest's intercom): Rise and shine, Hawks! It is time to ruin the days of those natives in LatinoAmerica!

Colonel Ever-Wandering Souls: Baha! This will be a fun one! I'll just use this puppet that I used the last time we raided this place.. I might as well copy and paste the original World Factbook Entry as well! Oh boy, I cannot wait for the natives to be salty about this one.

Sgt. Sygian: We are about there, everyone get ready....

Col. Souls: Syg.. I accidentally moved... I...

Colonel Souls reaches into his pocket and begins flipping through the pages of Generic Excuses: 101; Written by Rai Vasentius

Col. Souls: I accidentally nudged my touchpad! Everyone just go!

Major Koth: Souls.. You didn't move..

Col. Souls: Flips through the book some more Oh! It's because I used the same point as last time and it is still banned!
