| Council Update │ 10th April 2023 │

The clock of time ticks on, as the winds of change blow gently across. A flower gently floats down, its time come.

Today, The Black Hawks have some news, a sad event? Perhaps.
The news comes in the form of a leadership change.

Major Wasc will be stepping down as the Overseer of Blade Corps.

Wasc was a key player in the region, and overall in raiderdom during the slump of 2021. Wasc dutifully lead and planned operations throughout the head against stacked odds, eventually rising to Council in the beginning of 2022. She helped oversee some of the biggest operations in the history of our region, all the while becoming an integral member of our community. We thank Wasc for all she has done for us over the years, and hope that she gets a good rest as she joins us in an advisory role going forward.

Taking over her, is a rather reputable Hawk, a ball of energy at that.
Lieutenant Qekitor will be taking over the role as Overseer of Blade Corps.

Qekitor was voted 2022's Up and Coming Raider, and they have fueled the nest through their passion for anime, and their absolutely vibrant character can be seen clearly through their appearances on our wall of shame.

Please congratulate Qekitor on their ascension to the Council of Hawks!

Statement on Frontiers

Conflict – driven by an open opt-in to being a target, in exchange for benefits - is a loud and proud design goal of Frontiers, and The Black Hawks will not shy from it. We are a raider region, and while we do not, and will not limit our raids to only those who “opt in” to (or “deserve”) it, those who do willfully choose to take these risks embrace the conflict that our Gameplay brings.

Let us state this simply: Frontiers are battleground, valid targets for raiding by default. The Black Hawks will consider them as such unless we have either treaty text, specific conversation, or other clear commitment to partnership otherwise. Frontiers will not be afforded default exclusion from our target lists merely by who they associate with, who claims ownership of them, and tertiary chains of such relationships especially, but only by specific privilege that goes hand-in-hand with being an ally, partner, mutual non-aggressor, or something of similar standing to The Black Hawks.

Should you wish to confirm existing status along those lines or seek it anew, please reach out to a member of The Council of Hawks. Should you actively eschew such status...count your endorsements.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, TBH!!!

Yesterday was our birthday here in TBH, and we wanted to do something special! Last night, (well, like 3 hours ago, actually), we set out to have a BIG BIRD BIRTHDAY BASH like none other! And boy did we succeed!

4 teams set out to gather supplies and seek the best venue to host the epic party! Ultimately, we couldn't pick just one, so we decided to decorate and celebrate in all of them!

107 regions got to help celebrate our birthday, despite the nay-sayers who felt that we were being too raucous, and tried to put a damper on the party.

Thanks for celebrating with us, everyone! If you missed the party, then no worries...we just hope you remembered to bring us a present >:3

This 2nd of July, was a very special day for The Black Hawks.

It was after all - their anniversary, and the 18th one at that! In most places, they would become adults, and be capable of doing things such as the legendary handholding.

There were years that the anniversary had slipped by unnoticed, with only quiet well wishes, but this year, a party was in order. The Hawks rolled around, setting up events like drawing games, and decided to bake a cake, which turned out perfectly!

It would have been. Until someone placed 180 candles instead of 18 candles.

[ Of course, the cake burnt down ]

The lesson learnt this time, was not to let the hawks cook.

A cake was absolutely essential for any party (source), in contrary to those who say all one needs is plain water and brain. With that in mind, The Hawks invited friends from The East Pacific, Sky Haven and Thaecia to come along to bake a cake!

The first step was to get the ingredients for a cake, which had run out. To this end, the gang drove out to the nearby marketplace to get what they needed.

Chaos was an understatement. Despite the trip being to buy flour and eggs, Vor just wouldn't stop wandering back to the store selling weapons of mass destruction, with Omukama Skygreen having to drag him back each time. Andy and Sunipi chased each other, exploring the marketplace, while Qekitor and Altys stood by the corner and tried to find various green leaves and white powder to add into the cake.

Eventually all the ingredients were gathered, and the team split into two. The friends - to bake the cake, and The hawks, to visit a cafe after being banned from the kitchen.

Gutorng: Hey Qek, what's in the bags?
Qekitor: .. .----. -- / ... --- .-. .-. -.-- [translation: I’M SORRY]
Gutorng: What's that?
Qekitor: Remorse code.
Gutorng: I'm even angrier now.

No one quite knew what was the white powder that Qekitor told the Hawks to bring home, but it did attract a series of cops. Only by performing stunt maneuvers learnt with the power of anime and love, were we able to shake the unreasonable cops off.

After all the chasing, The Hawks finally reached home, to where their friends were waiting for them.

Tales from the Nest: Raidercon and Confetti!

Confetti! Confetti! Lowts of Confwetti! Awawawa

It was quiet day at The Nest. Most of the hawkies were out on leave to go join Raidercon. Well all except for three hawkies who were busy trying to find some confetti poppers to bring back to Raidercon: Lucklife, Emu, and Ben. As Raidercon organizers, they had underestimated how a lot of people liked going to Raidercon 2023 just to pop off a lot of confetti.

Luck’s phone rang. “Where are you guys?”. Nota’s voice could be heard on the other end. “We are down to just a few confetti poppers! The Assassins used a whole bunch of poppers to celebrate Greater Sahara and I just saw qek bring a boatload back to their boat! We need moooorrreeee!”

“We tryna find some. We’ll be there in a while”. Lucklife hanged up and looked back the mess they made trying to find confetti. Emu was swimming on a literal pile of council paper documents and Ben was busy munching on some secretly defender grown sunflower seeds he brought from their fortress. Luck sighed. At this rate Raidercon would run out of confetti poppers and the entire convention would devolve into anarchy and chaos. Luck shook his head to erase that thought.

“Alrighty hawkies, listen up!” Luck ordered Emu and Ben, who both quickly stopped whatever they were doing.”It seems we used up all our confetti supplies from last year’s Raidercon. We need to find some more. We need to R-A-I-D!” Luck spelled out.

“Caw! Caw!”. Emu cawed. “Meepu! Meepu!” Ben the hamster squealed.

Just as they started to prep for the raid. There was a knock on the door into the nest.

“Eeep! Its all over! We were too late!” Lucklife screamed. Thoughts of Raidercon running out of confetti poppers and a mob coming over to the nest to take them flooded into Luck’s anime filled mind.”Run! Run aw-“. Just as Luck was about to magically turn into a Vtuber and jump into a laptop screen he saw Ben and Emu at the Nest’s door about to open and let in whomever was outside. Lucklife froze but quickly got a hold of himself.

“Waaaiiitssuuu! Dont Oppeennn iitttt!” Lucklife shouted at the top of his lungs. But it was too late. The Nest’s door opened and a pair of hands raised towards the two hawkies.

“Greetings der!”, three people entered. Two had purple robes while another was having a shiny glow. One of the Assassinrs in purple with a British accent waved at the two hawkies by the door. The three people looked around. “So this is de Hawk’s Nest. Hmmm…” the Assassin with the British accent bent down to look at and inspected Ben. “You seem oddly familiar…”.

“Meepu?” Ben looked back at the Assassin with an inquisitive look as well.

“Looks like a server hamster, they seem to be everywhere”. The other assassin told the British one before looking at Emu as well. “Thats one odd looking hamster if i should say”

“Haihai!”. Lucklife called out to the to new arrivals “Am lucklife! Who be might you?”

“Oh sorry, allow us to introduce ourselves. “I am Sleet and this here is Alex and Sparkles”. Alex and Sparkles smiled and waved at the Luck. “We were heading to Raidercon from Greater Sahara and decided to stop by”.

“Oh! Welcome! Welcome!” Luckife proceeded to greet them. “We are kinda in a tight schedule here so I cant give you a Nest tour. We are supposed to find more confetti poppers for Raidercon but it seemed we used up all our supplies. We were about to go out to find more”

“Oh yeah! You guys raiding then I assume?” Sleet asked. “We could lend a hand if you want. Alex and Sparkles here were devoid of that sweet smelling scent of “hits” for nearly three months!”.

“To be fair”, Alex spoke. “It was fucking worth i- Sparkles stop giving that server hamster sunflower seeds”

The sparkling figure had been reaching out her hand to give sunflower seeds to the smol hamster and giving it a few headpats. “Legends say they run the multiverse in their own small way. Hopefully its happy enough to let us live let alone raid”

Before Luck could reply Yes to their offer, the door to Mira’s room suddenly opened and Frenchy poked her head out. “What is this I heard about a raid”.

“Fr-Frenchy? H-how are you here?” Lucklife stanmered, visibly confused as to how a Lily snuck inside the Nest.

“Mira invited me last night to help coach him for his interview. He left the password to your wifi so I decided to stay and continue using wifi after Mira left”

“Oh okay then”. Lucklife organized everyone at the Nest Hall to see how the raid would play out. With a checklist on hand. lucklife began to take names. “Two assassins, One Sparkles, One Lily, an Emu and then a hamster”. He murmured as he wrote the names. “I guess we are set then!”

“Remember, we need 2,023 confetti poppers. Alex and Sleet you run point. Sparkles and Frenchy your our rearguard.” lukclife barked orders to the group. “Ben, make sure you dont get stepped on. And Emu you provide overwatch. All right that looks about right. Lets go!”

And so off went this ragtag team of raiders into the multiverse. Raiding towns and regions to steal confetti poppers all in the name of avoiding Raidercon anarchy and chaos. Their enemies, the Evil Libbites knew this and made sure to try and not make that happen.

As the raid drew to a close, the group arrived at the Raidercon server. Lucklife started to count the poppers they managed to take. “30…31….32!”

“Is that enough?”. Sleet asked.

Lucklife scratched his head. “Well…it is enough for us not to run out for now”. Lucklife smiled as he glanced at the rest of the group entering the doors to Raidercon. “Time to say Hi to everyone!”. He exclaimed as he went after them inside.
raiders managed to steal 32 confetti poppers. Not quite the 2,023 they were hoping but just enough for Raidercon to continue normally.

Tales from the Nest: Weapons Testing & Goo

If the radiance of a thousand suns were to burst at once into the sky
that would be like the splendor of the Mighty One - J. Robert Oppenheimer.

It was the dead dark of the night yet light radiated through the Nest's windows from the inside with the occasional sparks here and there. Going closer, one could see several figures working non-stop in building some sort of contraption in what appeared to be a nest room turned into a workshop.

Several things were happening at once, Assassins Rosa and Agust were struggling to bring inside the room a huge missile-like contraption through the small door. On one end of the room, Aleena was working on what appeared to be green goo-ey slime, Nota was surrounded by the Nest's computers, busy inputting and fixing some code for what appeared to be guidance and launching systems. And finally, at the center of the room stood Alex the Shadowbringer, clipboard in hand and a sleeping hamster on top of his head, looking intently at everyone's progress.

"Bring that in slowly please", Alex told Agust and Rosa as they slowly laid down the missile-looking contraption right in front of Alex. Alex quickly took out a small marker and scribbled "YAFFeather 3.61" on the tip of the missile.

"What is all this for?", Rosa asked, wiping the sweat from her forehead. "I think I lost 50% of my body's water content from carrying this through several flights of stairs...why do Hawks even need stairs". Rosa grumbled.

"I-*huff* *huff*- agree". Agust tried to catch his breath.

"We need this to carry out the test properly. You two can go ahead and go to the breakroom, towards the left. I'll call you when I need help moving it towards the launch area". Alex replied t them as she checked a checkbox in her clipboard. Alex then went towards Nota's working area just as one of the printer's started printing out a series of codes.

"I finally got it! EUREKA!! EUREKA!!", Nota exclaimed with excitement without noticing the approaching Alex but enough to startle the sleeping Ben to fall towards the side of Alex's head. With point speed, Alex easily grabbed the falling hamster and placed it back on his head.

"Hey there Nota! How's the programming working out?". Alex asked calmly hoping Nota can notice him as the latter continued to shout in excitement. After a good few minutes, Nota collapsed to sleep out of exhaustion. "Oh well, seemed they got it working". Alex smiled as he checked another box on their clipboard and headed towards where Addi was.

Lying on the floor and covered in green goo was Addi, she was haplessly looking at the ceiling. Peacefully meditating it seemed.

"Ummm Addi, how the hell did you get covered in all of the fuel?" Alex looked at the sprawled out gree goo everywhere in Addi's working area. Addi remained motionless before murmuring "I am rewriting history, it is goo now".

"What does that even mean?", Alex grumbled as Addi closed her eyes and continued whispering. "Goo moment" several times.

Alex sighed and brought out a phone from her pocket. "Hello. Yes Rosa. Can you come back here and help me gather up all the goo fuel and put it in the missile? Yeah yeah, I need help washing it off of Addi as well". Alex spoke before hanging up and looking at a sound asleep Addi.

Minutes later, Rosa and Agust arrived to help collect the goo fuel and put it inside the misile, then moving and mounting the missile in a launching pad outside the Nest after walking through the grueling flight of stairs once more. Nota also woke up and started to punch codes and numbers in the missile's programming. After a while the group moved back to the Nest to watch the much-anticipated launch.

"Well then, good work everyone! Appreciate all the hard work and hopefully, our test goes great!", Alex exclaimed as she joined the rest of the group to sit by the window with Alex having on her lap what seemed to be a device with several keys that had a program running, somewhat connected to the launch of the missile and a big red button encased in glass next to the keys.

"You have to do the launch slowly Alex. The program might bug if you press it too suddenly. Wait for the GO command.", Nota reminded Alex. "And it all goes Kaboom"

Alex nodded. "What's the launch keys again?" Alex asked.

"3-6-1", Nota replied. Alex typed the three numbers and the glass surrounding the red button opened up.

"Okay, prepped nice and good so far, waiting for the G-", Alex was cut short from finishing her sentence as she saw Ben leap out from her head and land directly on the big red button.

"NO!", both Alex and Nota screamed just as as a loud burst of energy pushed the group away from the nest and slammed them on the floor of the room.

"WHAT IS HAPPENING!!!", yelled out Addi who awoke from her sleep, still covered in some goo. "I WAASSS HAAVINGGG AN AAMZZZAAING DREEEAMM!!!".

And so it was at that moment, that fortunately, the missile test of Yaffeather went out successfully, destroying several regions in a short amount of time as intended despite a hamster-sized mistake. Albeit at the cost of a good dream.
