This was definitely not an instance of collaboration between raiders and defenders, it's true. Perhaps you won't see this particular raiding org collaborate with defender orgs, but collaboration between individual raiders and defenders, or even large groups acting unofficially, isn't unheard of.

In fact, I'm pretty sure you've been on a mission extremely recently where we worked together with some raiders, and their involvement helped things quite a bit. Not going to name it in public, and you shouldn't either, but I bet you could figure it out if you thought hard about it. I'd like to think we could collaborate when necessary, especially on things like ensuring player safety or building a better environment for players.

Totally Real Photo of Malphe With A Knife

In a surprising turn of events, Malphe, with a herd of angry rats, decided to chase The Black Hawks around NationStates, stealing back cheese and taking revenge for accidentally feeding his cousin Steve to the hawklings. The Hawks managed to escape this angry rat army, returning home to the Nest for a good nap, but not before flying through a few dozen regions and stealing some more cheese.

The adventures of Ursidae; the oversized Bear-Hawk


Ursidae leaps into an unsuspecting region

Since he was a little cubling all Ursidae wanted to do was fly like his Hawk friends, but no matter how hard he would flap and flail his arms he could never manage any more than a few seconds in the air. After a long time trying he started to lose heart, all he had ever known was the life of a Hawk, and a sadness washed over him. Upset at seeing their friend down, the Hawks hatched a plan to give him what he wanted more than anything and they set out to convince the downcast bear to try his hand at flying one last time.

Ursidae was convinced he would fail but a glimmer of hope still remained, and it gnawed at him as the Hawks encouraged him. The hope grew and at last he gave in, plodding over to the same cliff edge where he had failed so many times before. Slowly, the bear raised himself on his hind legs, filled his lungs and took a leap of faith, all the while flapping his arms wildly. With his eyes closed he fully expected to feel the sudden and solid disappointment of the ground greeting him, but it did not come. He opened his eyes to find himself hovering in the air, with all the grace you can expect from a fully grown bear, above the very spot he had stood just seconds ago. Delighted, he didn’t even notice the clearly beleaguered group of Hawks straining their wings to keep him afloat.

Marshalling all their energy, the Hawks guided the bear towards the countless regions they regularly preyed upon. These regions and their Defenders were well prepared for a Bear attack from the ground, but what they did not expect was a sudden Tactical Bear Drop™. Stunned, they could do nothing as the Bear and his Hawk friends soared from region to region, crushing or disregarding any opposition they happened upon. Ursidae's flight was everything and more than he had dreamed of, and he had never been able to achieve as much success as he was now. On the approach to the last region he flung his head back, to take in the stars in the gradually darkening sky, only to be greeted by the sight of his Hawk friends flapping furiously in an effort to keep him in the air. Disappointment welled inside of him, and the Hawks worried for their friend as they came to the last region. With ease they dispatched the inhabitants and claimed it as their own. With the fighting over the Hawk’s attention immediately returned to that of their Bear companion, concerned with how he would be handling the inescapable truth – that Bears can’t fly. Instead, they found him in good spirits, for Ursidae knew he had experienced what no other Bear had and that more importantly, he was a Hawk at heart.
