About the Grey Wardens

The Grey Wardens are an order of warriors of exceptional ability, dedicated to fighting darkspawn (invaders) throughout NationStates. The Grey Wardens are known for ignoring a recruit's racial, social, national, and even criminal background if they deem the person valuable in terms of character or ability. Of course in the sense of NS this means that we shall accept just about anyone without prejudice. Former invaders are also welcome as long as they stay true to the Wardens and our cause. It is the goal of this order to efficiently defeat as many invaders as possible as frequently as needed. We are not the white knights who clamor for the approval of our peers. We embrace the darkness and shall follow our enemy wherever they attempt to spread the blight.

March 13th Major Update

The Grey Wardens were out in force tonight on this, their first update. The darkspawn had no clue what hit them in the early stages of update as defenders continued to rack up successful defenses. Partially through update, the darkspawn horde was forced to call in reinforcements to keep their dreams of pillaging alive. The Wardens followed suit calling in friends of the cause Ivo of the EPSA and Acronius of the RIASF. This skirmish would prove to be one of the longest in recent NationStates history, lasting just under two hours, but the Wardens never gave an inch. In total, The Grey Wardens and allies managed to save six regions from the Blight and managed to liberate another region, slaughtering the remaining darkspawn.

Count
6 Successful Defenses (30 natives, 1 Delegate [33 days])
1 Successful Liberation (4 natives)

Wardens participating in this operation:
First Warden Benevolent Thomas | Pointman, Switcher
Warden-Commander Cormac Stark | Pointman, Switcher

Allies who contributed to our victory:
Acronius | Trigger, Pointman, Switcher
Ivo Mullur | Pointman, Switcher
Tangaroan Islands | Liberator

For The Grey Wardens!

March 14th Major Update

If you thought our last report was awesome, get ready to hear something even crazier. This update it seems that defenders may have defended more regions than were invaded. No, I'm not discounting TBR's tagging efforts. We seriously may have beat our darkspawn rival in terms of overall successes. The emboldened Grey Wardens took to the fields fiercely, eagerly looking forward to engaging with the enemy. Once again we were joined by our friends Ivo Mullur (EPSA) and Acronius (RIAF), and along with them came Eluvatar of the Taijitu Militia, North Pacific Army and the United Defenders League. After a few easy victories on the taglands, we moved in to secure a region from a different foe accompanying the FRA, TaiMil and RIASF on their mission. Waiting for us there was Warden-recruit Kogvuron. TITO also decided to join in too, because you can never outnumber darkspawn enough. We then took back to the fields for repeated victories all the way through the end of update which was yet again over 110 minutes long. A blow has been dealt to the blight tonight and those that doubt the might of the Grey Wardens should look into reconsidering.

Count
10 Successful Defenses (53 natives, 5 Delegates [6 days, 8 days, 12 days, 15 days, 80 days])

Wardens Participating in this operation
First Warden Benevolent Thomas | Pointman, Switcher
Warden-Commander Cormac Stark | Pointman, Switcher
Kogvuron | Support

Allies who contributed to this glorious victory
Ivo Mullur | Switcher
Acronius | Pointman, Switcher
Eluvatar | Pointman, Switcher

Factual Statistics on the report are Correct.

We had systematical weapon test update and at least for me it seems malfunctioning badly, forcing to use not optimal artistic, instinctive and in-accurate aiming methods. No-report for this one. Good job. Proceed. (if the trend continues you guys achieve soon 50% success rate)

At least we have now real R/D here in the NationStates, not only R. :)

The comparison of Raiders to darkspawn is rather off. Raiders conquer and capture, darkspawn just destroy and trample.

Also, leave it to Cor to get so moralistic he is literally RPing saving the world from raider hordes. Kek.

Whilst it is refreshing to see Defender activity in the field again, I am concerned that you have not provided the names of the regions defended?

Although I do not doubt that the Grey Wardens have done what they said, anyone could state that they foiled raiders in such a manner if providing supporting evidence is not required.

I applaud the initiative to re-boost activity in the R/D game but would prefer some back-up to be presented to substantiate these claims - we know who took place, we know when it took place, but your dispatches fail to mention where.

While Corvus more or less confirmed the truth of these reports I must also ask, who did you liberate/defend?

There was indeed 10 successful defenses against TBR test squadron. TGW determines itself were and when it operates. It isn't others responsibility to Confirm things to the details, If they decide that is best, but it is also vain hope expect that TBR would in future confirm every single report for TGW, thus listing successes by themselves would be good new etiquette (or not publish reports at all). While TBR targets are usually completely random, based more on available resources and objectives of the update, and decided by raid leader/trigger and/or ordered by General Staff, it is normally unlike TBR would just try retaliate in successes of a last update by other R/D organisation. however, we cannot make any promises about that how we would react in the future to published defender successes. We cannot either make decisions on behalf of third parties.

Then... Nevertheless, and after all. We know the list of those regions already anyway.

I am glad that defenders seem to be taking a more active stand, but I think it would be wise in the future to post the regions you "saved" from us evil raiders.

Why don't you list the regions you've defended? - everyone

I've already given an answer to that:

The reports are going to look small because I'm still not sold on listing defended regions. Now, will a list make it more likely that TBR will tag them next update? Doubtful, they would have been targets anyways. Its about not giving the Doom Noob Squads of the world new targets to go after.

To be honest, anyone determined enough to try hit the regions you defended would just go look at Spear Danes' activity feed and scroll back a little.
Posting the list in (Reverse sometimes) Alphabetical order is something raiders had to do when TEK was around to stop them from using the hit lists as shopping lists, so that may work for you here.

But even without the region list, you're doing well enough to get recruits. As out of character for a raider it may be to say, good job!

I believe we actually did get a 50% success rate. We blocked 10 out of 20 tags that update, IIRC. :)

My gut is telling me the world of gameplay will soon turn into a game of slaps, where raiders and defenders just keep tagging/liberating each others targets now that they have easy access lists on each others hits... All while regions become desolate from constant war.
Guess which side wins when regions suffer?

Getti: Raiders of Course! We support and 'defend' free and democratic elections (by highest number of endorsements to a WAD canditate) in NS, meanwhile Defenders try prevent us to do our task (for what ever reasons). We also spread the Idea of The Freedom of movement for freedom loving nations.

How it would be ever possible that majority of NationStates players would support limitations to their given natural rights by supporting Defenders? :p

There isn't much difference between "conquer and capture" vs. "destroy and trample" in NationStates. The regions conquered and captured by The Black Riders (e.g., re-founded) are also destroyed and trampled. It's not like any of you are building better communities, or building anything at all, in the regions you raid. Destroy and trample is pretty much what you do.

Venico wrote:Also, leave it to Cor to get so moralistic he is literally RPing saving the world from raider hordes. Kek.

Actually, I think you've missed the point. We're here to have fun booting raiders, which has the nice effect of also helping regions. RPing a theme is part of that fun. This is probably the least actually moralistic defender group in recent memory, if not ever.
