Senate Limitation Act (Brannack Only!!)

Postby Anarchist X » Mon Dec 01, 2014 3:44 pm

Senate Limitation Act:

Seeing that the Senate was created for the betterment of Brannack, so that we have an efficient legislature.
Noting that we are one of the most democratic regions in the game, with individual freedoms held sacred.
Believing that a senate of elite nations in the region could prove destructive to those ends for the newer nations, ruining what makes Brannack great.
Assuring that legislation can and will still be needed, however, a simple majority of the senate may prove to be corrupted, and vote against the interests of the region either unknowingly or for personal gain.
Requiring, therefore, that all passed laws..., other than:
1. Delegate impeachment (6 votes needed) OR
2. Senator impeachment (6 votes needed)
...MUST pass the Senate by a unanimous vote, to protect the Libertarian Democracy of our glorious region, Brannack.
Proposed on 12/1/14

Approvals: anarchist x

Rejections: None

Requires 3 more approvals, as an act CURRENTLY only requires a simple majority to pass. That would be changed by this proposal.

If it was unanimous every time, nothing would get done. What about a 5-2 majority to pass?

It would be very hard to get unanimous votes on anything.
Those unwilling to fight for their own freedom, or others', is undeserving of it.

This is not the place to organise your regional affairs, nor is it allowed to have "X only" threads. Please keep in mind the following:

Crazy girl wrote:Regions wanting to post their legislation, organise their internal affairs, or to have a discussion for members of their region only are advised to get an offsite forum for this.

6 votes is as far as I'd go. 5 is still to few, and we can't be sure it would be in the best interest of the region.

I agree with Araluen and Eyreland, 5-2 majority is a good amount, otherwise we WOULD get nothing done.

They were elected officials, so they do represent Brannack. If it had to be unanimous, then the senate would be counter-productive. Some of the senators of completely different viewpoints. 5-2 would get things done reasonably fast, and with little error.

Also, instead of days left to vote, why not keep the proposals up until all senators have either approved or denied it.
