OOC: well how i do it is i look at real nations' armies and look at the ration of soldiers to normal people, for example Great Britain has around 65 million people in it, and its army is around 400,000. so i just see what percentage that is in comparison
since you are like a billion now, it wont be goin over the top having millions and millions of soldiers, but i dont think you should have them all in one place like som idiots on here do, like for instance, a nation had around 800 million people and he said he had a conscription....so he says "haha i have 10 million troops attacking your border"............well he didnt take into account territorial armies and stuff

hope that helps

OOC: Thats good advice, I'll use it for when I try to make my realistic army thanks. So do you know how Britain is in % of citizens in the army. I know N. Korea used to have the highest, and I'd hazard a guess they still do, so whats average for most nations?

OOC: Most people use the 1% of the pop. rule. You can have 5 to 10% in wartime when you are attacked. The most you can have in peacetime (with a imploded economy and starving people) is 5% but they will have outdated equipment and will be trained enough to just know where to point one end of the gun to.

OOC: well i did the calculation, 1% of 65000000 = 650,000; so Great Britain has half of 1% of its citizens in the armed forces, howver that is with volunteers, i know that it has doubled since the iraq war begun, so it would be much more id there was a conscription

I'll get you moved to Gameplay.

Anyway, the best bet is to start off simple. That means sort out how many's in your army - that's usually 0.5 - 1% of your population.

The next thing to do is sort out how many soldiers you'll need for active activities and how many for reserve (attack and defense).

Then, you'll need to sort out naval craft and aircraft you'll have - or just aircraft if you're landlocked.

Then, you might want to research what types of weapons and defenses you're going to have (anti aircraft guns, SAM sites, that sort of stuff for defense.) Some of the topics in Factbooks and National Information might help for the research - but if you're going to copy someones designs (either handmade or made on a program) always ask. If you're really stuck for ideas - try making your own (for your soldiers weapons, of course.) There are some good sites out there, but the one for beginners is pimpmygun.doctornoob.com/app.html . Try the old one, that's more simpler than new one.

Vehicles and uniforms for your soldiers are the next key, and that's about it.

Yeah, don't get 'finishers' or such amazingly huge/pwnzer things that the RTS equivelent is The Scarab from Halo wars, Mammoth Tank, or other amazingly costly device.

No they wouldn't.

They would use the eyes in their giant robots.
