There have been a few nations commenting on my bill, the Internet Act, saying that I cannot do so, but I think that is nonsense as, even though it has virtually no effect on any nations, the bill is intended to affect national legislation and, therefore, stats. Not being able to use them to formulate a bill would be unnecessarily restricting and, although I can't provide examples right now, I'm sure it or other World Census data has been used for previous bills, surely!

No.
The World Census and SMU are not a part of the GA's side of the game, and mentioning either would be illegal for 'Meta-gaming'.
(The same applies incidentally, according to longstanding precedent, to using the game's nation categories or its levels for stats...)

If you create & adequately define a unit in your proposal then that would be allowable.

Act in my nation

Postby Pratihara » Mon Jun 26, 2017 1:25 am

I can't seem to find this in the Help section or in the Technical section
How do you change things about my nation. For example I want to beef up the military except no issue has come up yet regarding the military and I have no idea how to change it.
So do you have to wait for an issue before you can change your nations stqnce on that topic or is there another mechanism. Note: I am not asking how to change my nations stance worldwide. Only within my on nation.
For example: How do I ban skateboards without an issue regarding skateboards coming up

You have to wait for a relevant issue to come up.

That's all there is.

You are free to RP your nation's laws and such as whatever you wish of course.

Region Founder

Hello b I had a question about how a region is perceived via tags. What would you think of a region with the tags:. Democratic, National Sovereignist, Anti Fascist, Independent. What would the Foreign Affairs perception of that be in NS. I'm worried about my regional branding is why I'm asking.

  • Democratic is self-explanatory.
  • National Sovereigntist, as I have earlier explained to you, is the belief that nations should be able to control their own laws as much as possible (and that's just a gross oversimplification).
  • Anti-Fascist is a widely-used tag, and - with the rise of the likes of the Coalition against the Ideology of Nazism, and GP's longstanding distrust of most fascists - has a good reputation.
  • "Independent" is used to describe regions like Europeia and The North Pacific who are neither raider nor defender. For more information, check out The Independent Manifesto.
The following regions have all of the tags you have listed. They range from Balder and the Communist Bloc - both heavily popular - to Equilism and Merridel, and several others like Parliamentary Democracy (and tag-collectors like The Embassy). Foreign affairs perception, to my awareness, is OK, but don't take this as the gospel quite yet - wait for others to have their say on this.

Tinhampton's explanation is fine.

Democratic would suggest you elect your WA Delegate or your government.

National sovereigntist would suggest you vote against World Assembly resolutions that impose international regulations, favouring instead that individual nations be allowed to do as suits them.

Anti fascist just means what it says. It doesn't necessarily imply you actually fight fascists. Most respectable regions are anti fascist.

Independent is the only tag here that is somewhat politically charged. It generally means a region that does what suits the region, and doesn't have a hard policy on invading or defending, but will engage in either to further its interests.

Which is more popular: raiding or defending.

Both are popular.

Which you might pursue depends on what kind of person you want to be. Does kicking down other people's sandcastles appeal to you?

You may want to edit that comment. Disagreeing with invading is fine but calling people unpleasant names could be seen as flaming which is against the site rules.

Historically, most 'National Sovereigntists' who have actually been active in the NSUN GA drafting & debates have accepted some international legislation on matters that actually concern international relations -- diplomatic immunity, the conduct of warfare, international trade, and so on -- and reserved their opposition for attempts to regulate purely 'internal' matters. Quite a few of them have been willing to support at least some resolutions on "fundamental" rights for people, too, although without a complete consensus on what those should include...

I am having a problem sending out Recruitment Telegrams for my region, and I don't understand what I am doing wrong.

For instance, if I want to send out 100 telegrams to New nations, I have entered the following in the "To:" box:

New 100

and then I tried

New (100)

Neither seems to have worked; the reply message I get back is "One telegram sent," and my postal account doesn't change.

What am I doing wrong?

Issues come up randomly.

(Except chains, which follow each other, but the first in the chain is random)

It needs to be "tag: New100" (without the ")

Nope. You can't. The issues are random.

Some have conditions attached, so if you want a particular one, it's worth checking the validity to make sure you're eligible.

Hi! I've been having problems, aka my country's crime rate is high (-ish), my tourism and my environment are dead, my civil rights are below average and it hasn't gone the way I wanted it to. This is my first time playing and I was wondering if there is a way to fix these problems apart from the issues.

Join the World Assembly and support proposed GA resolutions in the appropriate categories: 'International Security' resolutions boost police spending as well as military spending; 'Environmental' resolutions boost the environment, of course; and 'Human Rights' resolutions boost civil rights.

Hey, how much influence is required to password protect a region? I understand that as the WAD of my region, the estimates show that it would require 30% of my influence without showing my residents the password and 10% with showing them, but is this standard across all regions or are there different factors at play here?

What do Francoist and Userite mean? I've been reading the Lazarus thread and having difficulty making heads or tails out of some of the jargon in there.

According to the Francoist manifesto, Proper Francoist Thought:
Francoism is based off of a single and very simple concept - class. It is class consciousness and struggle that creates Francoism within regions, and indeed, it can even be said that it is this that makes the emergence of Francoism and Francoist revolutions in the Pacifics inevitable. It is upon class that all further Francoist political theory, as well as the actions of Francoist and Francoist Pacifics, are based.

The two classes recognised by Francoist Thought are the Feederites, who are the nations of their respective Pacific and seek to harness and work with the means of production (namely the Pacific region itself), and the Userites, who seek to exploit its fruits; by exploiting both the nations of the Pacific and the political structure set up within it to further their own political, military and social power. These two classes, as will be obvious to anyone, are completely incompatible since their interests lie in two completely separate directions.

Put simply, Francoism is a controversial ideology that focuses on isolation from user-created regions* whilst aiming to unite other Pacifics (most famously practised in the Pacific), whilst the term "Userite" is generally used as a derogatory term towards nations from user-created regions* (and even the UCRs themselves).

Nota bene, from the thread you refer to:
Revolutionary Vanguardism wrote:PFT as an essayt and Francoism in general are very much NPO products but aimed at all Feederites.

Pierconium wrote:[Francoist Thought] was a joint effort by several members of the People's Republic of the Pacific to codify what we believed at the time to be the underlying dynamics of GCR relations with the rest of NationStates. It is, admittedly, little more than a bastardized plagiarism of Marxist political thought on class struggle, and like that philosophy, has needed to evolve and reshape itself over the years to deal with the current realities and realpolitik of the NationStates world.

t: PFT is Proper Francoist Thought - see above

*All regions other than: The Warzones, the Pacific, the North Pacific (called "The Not Pacific" by some NPO** members), the East Pacific, the South Pacific, the West Pacific, Lazarus, Osiris, Balder (although the latter two did not exist during Peak Francoism in the mid-2000s), and the Rejected Realms.
**The New Pacific Order - 14-year-old(!) byproduct of the Francoist revolution in The Pacific.

Who are the Sons and Daughters of Fenghuang, and why are they so significant? If it's anything to do with reversing the NLO coup, how come Starberries - created some four months after Stujenske was dethroned - is considered the last Daughter of Fenghuang?
