Hope this is the right place to ask, but I get a fair few issues which involve Tasmania and was basically wondering... why Tasmania? Is it based on the flag I chose? I mean, I am meant to be alt-Australia basically but I've also got a fair few issues that literally couldn't happen in Australia (something to do with ice sheets blocking a port or town, ha) so that makes me think it can't actually be country-specific. No other Australian states are mentioned either, and the way Tasmania is described makes it sound like another country. It's pretty funny, but it's just been bugging me.

I am the founder of a region called The Forge of Hephaestus.
I have an idea that I would like to share for both my region and for anyone that is starting out with RP. My idea is to have an active RP dedicated to newcomers. The goal is that the RP will run like normal but will also be a practice RP. So nothing too hard or too complex. Mentors would play as normal but would also help out newcomers by going OOC. This idea would need people experienced with RP to run. I do intend for this kind of RP idea to be implemented in my region but can be open to all as well. Hopefully I can get the mentors to start it the Practice RP idea can become reality.

It's because Max Barry is Australian. Same reason as why the default flag is the Aborigine one.

That's as satisfactory an answer as I expected, thanks haha. I did also wonder why the default was the Aboriginal flag. It's funny to me because I think all of the other countries that come up in issues are clearly made up, then I just get something like "Tasmania's killing and eating your endangered birds" and it's like "god fucking dammit Tasmania, why have you seceded and become such a pain in the arse in this alternate timeline".

I have a suggestion. Add a parentheses to the choices in the issues that hints the possible pros and cons of such a decision. I feel sometimes that there're so many changes for each choice that not being given at least an inkling of the negatives makes those choices wracking, especially when I'm trying to keep my country as crime free as possible while trying to strengthen the economy.

There are usually some hints in the text. For instance think who is proposing the choice - often that gives you some idea of how it will work out.

Not entirely sure what you're talking about. At a guess people are getting pictures from Google, and it isn't hard to put a flag in the background using photoshop or something equivalent.

The pictures they chose themselves. If you're asking how to get a custom flag, go to https://www.nationstates.net/page=settings scroll down to nation flag, and click "create your own flag". This takes you to a page where you can upload a picture.

I can't think of a website people have been referring to, but if you have a general idea of what you want it to be or pictures of crests/seals you want included, you can ask someone to make it on the flag makers/request thread.

How do I join a region or the WA? I'm getting these telegrams saying "join our region, click below" but when I click below it just lets me view the region, and there's no button I can see for "join this region". And the WA page doesn't have a button to join it either. New player please help.

Regarding joining a region: At the end of those telegrams is a button that says "Move to <Region>". Here's an example:



That arrow in red is pointing towards the button I mean. Clicking that region automatically places your nation in that region. Alternatively, if you see a region's page, you can also click a button to move there (scroll down a bit to find it):



Regarding the World Assembly, first go to your settings to make sure you have entered a correct email address. Then, there's the big button "World Assembly" at the left. Click it, and there's another button "Apply to Join". I can make screenshots for that too if you need them.

I've actually never heard it as other player. I've always heard it as some variation of "Original Post(er)".
