Is there a way to get people to join your region without spending money?
I really want to know

There are a few scripts around to send TGs automatically,if you don't know your way around with programming try NS++,which besides some handy features has a recruiting function

Just a note to the regulars here, this is not /technical,so NS++ discussion isn't appropriate here,so keep opinions in the right place, okay?
No,I don't speak for TBR,TBH,your mom, moderation or any other person/organization,just saying before anyone thinks that

Yes. Simply recruit. It's slow and hard work but eventually it pays dividends and you can get some really cool and active members.

It helps if you can make the region particularly interesting in some way.
It helps if you choose a name that people might look for anyway, even without active recruitment attempts.
Also, apply relevant 'tags'.
The Confrederated Clans (and other Confrederated Bodys) of the Free Bears of Bears Armed
(includes The Ursine NorthLands) Demonym = Bear[s]; adjective = ‘Urrsish’.
Population = just under 20 million. Economy = only Thriving. Average Life expectancy = c.60 years. If the nation is classified as 'Anarchy' there still is a [strictly limited] national government... and those aren't "biker gangs", they're traditional cross-Clan 'Warrior Societies', generally respected rather than feared.

I would recommend moving to a region first, see how things are done, learn the game a bit more.

Our region, for example, does not recruit at all by telegram. We 'Promote" and have had some success with it. There are many ways to get nations to join your region you just have to be a bit creative about it.

The easiest way is through word of mouth, talk to your NS friends, and have each one send a puppet nation over to your region to help you out. Make sure its not an old fashioned style region, or they will get bored.

You can also, have something of value or particularly interesting on your forum to draw in players from the world. A couple of our members came to our forum to play in our government because we have a massive library of rare religious texts. (bringing a few players to NS is always a good thing).

Likewise, you want to have a specific target audience. While our region targets experienced players, most regions target new players. Ideally, you want a bit of a balance.

Lastly, a good way to promote is to be active here on the Gameplay Forums as well. Many of our nations come because we publish a daily news that people read and get drawn in with.

My region has 40 nations, and have not had one successful nation come through sending recruitment telegram messages or buying the game-killing Telegram Stamps. Success is achievable, but it takes a bit of creative thinking to get it done.

If you need additional advice, just ask.
