Unsupressing Regional Posts

Postby Hassett » Mon Apr 14, 2014 11:19 pm

Is there a way to unsuppress all posts in the regional message board? A while back, some raiders suppressed all our regions posts dating back more than three years.

Thank you.

No. You need to do it post by post.

At least be conforted that the raider also suppressed all 3 years worth of posts, post by post.

No they didn't. Afforess was most helpful to invaders by pointing out how to suppress all at once.

The raider that suppressed those, 'Realm', didn't know how to use that. So he really did do it post-by-post.

Also, Afforess gave the script to a defender asking how to unsuppress all at once. Raiders just removed the "un" and started using it the opposite way. :p

Eh, I disagree. It's useful for GCRs in particular to combat RMB spam.

I think you're right about this, but after a while (let's say 3 months or so) all posts should stay as they are (supressed or unsupressed). It shouldn't be that hard to implement.

Well, it has reeked havoc on other regions, who value its history. Why the admins would support the suppression of free speech is beyond me. And why GCR's complain is completely illogical. Rather than have a robust region, recognized around the world, they alienate themselves, through their endless suppression. What I think it is, is Administrative laziness. The Administrators don't want to deal with a complaint every now and then so they enact some rule change to combat it... Each time systematically destroying the game.

Influence - Destroyed the RD game for months thereafter.
Embassies - Destroyed real meaningful foreign relations.
Telegram Stamps - made it much harder for those without money to recruit and compete.
Post Suppression - devalues regional history and the freedom of speech.

All because the Administrators of the game didn't feel like dealing with a complaint every now and again.

The free-form, anything goes game of NationStates has been reduced to something akin to a low-budget Facebook game. Remember the days when Administrators were about keeping the status quo, enforcing the rules for everyone, rather than bending the rules to benefit a particular group? ... probably not, most have quit since then.

If you can suppress you can also unsuppress. So I don't understand the big deal over giving delegates and founders of all regions this power to suppress the posts of trolls and RMB spammers. It's a power granted to all regions and way better than the old system when GCRs and UCRs alike would make posts on the RMB to push posts outside of the actively viewed ones. Filler posts.

Furthermore, the idea that GCRs are not robust and have alienated themselves is utterly false. Balder's RMB and forums are more active and robust than the Global Syndicate. So... no...

Influence - Improved the R/D game and destroyed the useless bannings
Embassies - Made official foreign relations (sometimes abused) and is being discussed for improving
Stamps - NS API,nuff said,or for the less technical people: NS++,or a few other scrips floating around
Post Suppression - suppressing posts that fall in the grey area of the rules

And you fail to notice the extra rules that have made more work for moderation
