What are the benefits of becoming a state in The Global Federation?
Well, you don't have an army, so to speak. You put your military forces into The Global Federation Services.
This means that small nations could have a military that is more than their entire population. This gives extra security to the smaller nations, because if they were to be attacked by a bigger nation, they would be more likely to win the battle, than if they were independent. Why?
Well The Global Federation Services currently have 3,109,000 employees, with 974,000 of those being currently active and 2,135,000 in reserve. That's more personnel than the Russian Federation!
Are there any benefits that aren't related to the military
Yes, although not a vast amount.
Trade, because you would be a part of the same country as other states, trade between the two would be completely free!
Immigration, you would still be able to enforce your own immigration laws, although you must follow the constitution.
What about bigger nations
Well, bigger nations would already have a fair grip on the world, but why stop there? if you become a state, you would become a part of The Global Federation, which would give you an even bigger grip on the world.
What about newly established nations? Can we join?
Yes! We are one of the few nations in the world to recognize ALL new countries as independent, as long as they are democratic!
So obviously, we would accept them without a second thought!
What If a state wants independence?
Well they simply bring it up at the weekly DCS meeting and it get's voted on.
Once the vote has passed, a newly independent nation can 1) completely leave the federation and join a new region, or 2) remain in the federation as an Autonomous Republic. This would give them FULL independence to have their own military, currency, ect.. but they would remain in The Global Federation and therefore would still be eligible for the free trade, and the other benefits. They would also be given the opportunity to become a Vassal state, so if they were attacked, we would defend them. Option 2 is only available to nations that remain democratic after independence.
